Thanks Scott for this lead. I've just read the whole of Carol Rainey's account here and it is a model of objective journalism which should be compulsory reading for anyone interested in the way abductees are managed by the likes of Budd Hopkins and David Jacobs (who incidentally turn out to be the closest of friends). They come across as unqualified, unprofessional practitioners who put their own self-interests ahead of their clients. Anyone who reads books such as The Threat (by David Jacobs) should bear this in mind.

Ms. Rainey has not only provided an amazing cover story for Paratopia Quarterly at great personal expense, but probably the most important ufological article you will read all year. It’s January.

Look, it’s time for something new. And that’s not just increasingly obvious to the ufological community but to interested outsiders like Dr. Tyler Kokjohn, a noted scientist and Professor of Microbiology at Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. So moved was he by Carol’s article that he has generously stepped forward to show us what real scientific standards and practices look like when it comes to human subjects. This is the theme of his article, Tainted, Toxic, and Taboo: A Scientist’s Assessment of Alien Abduction Research.

It is worth stressing the amount of bravery we are seeing on display here with Dr. Kokjohn stepping into the fray to… well… help us. And most especially from Carol Rainey. Carol was married to Budd for 10 years. They share many of the same friends. Losing them is only one of the risks for her to speak out and it’s minor in comparison to some of the others. But when she investigated the David Jacobs scandal for herself, she felt like she had to say something. Felt like she had to speak her truth no matter the cost.

Interestingly, there is a reply on the Imaginative Worlds forum by apparently the same Emma Woods as mentioned by Carol Rainey, denying that she was a CIA asset sent to discredit David Jacobs, also refuting claims that she is an alias for Arizona Wilder who was allegedly responsible for breaking up David Icke's marriage.

Emma Woods' website is here, and I must say she comes across as straightforward and truthful.

If nothing else its very interesting and tends to confirm what some other long term UFO investigators have thought for a long time.

Just a quick update on this, we managed to Interview Carol Rainey along with Dr Tyler Kokjohn, it was a very interesting show as they both had lots to say about abduction research and the methods used in that field to garner information.
