Why is Betelgeuse dimming?
The supergiant is going to end its life as a supernova. Is the sudden dimming a warning sign? Betelgeuse is a variable red super giant star located in the Orion constellation. Most estimations have it going supernova within the next 100,000 years, but could it be sooner? Dr. Andrea Dupree, associate director of the Center for Astrophysics at the Harvard & Smithsonian institute, joins John Michael Godier to discuss recent observations of Betelgeuse by Hubble.
