Default Tales Of The Face Diaper

This is a thread to document awkward face mask stories. Don't know about you guys but I have quite a few. This is not another covid thread I just figure this might be a space where we can have a little laugh about the lunacy going on in the world regarding masks, or "face diapers", as my friend calls them.

    I'll get us started...

    This actually happened today:
So I work at a school and am required to wear a face diaper when I enter the building. However, when the students leave most of the teachers and admin remove their face diaper. I do too. But there are a few die-hards that keep theirs on. And fair enough.

But there is one teacher in particular who makes a hugely obnoxious, sanctimonious show of avoiding me in the evenings when we cross paths. She's pleasant enough, outwardly, but the pleasantness is irritatingly passive aggressive. She might offer a smile and a 'hello' for example, but then she'll make a show of adjusting her face diaper and creating about 20 feet of space between us. It's very, very annoying.

Tonight when we crossed paths I noticed that her mask was strangely absent. And even though the students had left the building, I still happened to have mine on (occasionally I'll forget I'm wearing the stupid thing). So with her moral high ground hanging in the balance, she went fumbling for her mask in a panic so as to achieve the requisite, nightly passive-aggressive shaming of me/virtue signaling she normally performs...and with the tables turned and a feeling for the moment, I offered her the same disingenuous smile and hello she normally offers me, and then I twisted my face into an exaggerated display of discomfort and basically straddled the walls until she was a good 15 or 20 feet away. And then I told her with a glorious faux sincerity to have a nice day.

    It was nearly orgasmic.

This one qualifies as lunacy. I ran a search figuring it’s got to be a hoax but it appears that even main stream media is reporting on this:

Chinese flight attendants told to wear diapers to avoid COVID-19

    December 10, 2020
    article
Flight attendants in China are being advised to wear diapers in order to ward off COVID-19 infections — by helping them avoid the plane bathroom, according to new airline guidelines.

The disposable undergarments and other personal protective equipment — masks, goggles, shoe covers — are on a list of recommendations for flight crew on flights to and from high-risk countries, CNN reported.

“It is recommended that cabin crew members wear disposable diapers and avoid using the lavatories barring special circumstances to avoid infection risks,” says the guidelines from the Civil Aviation Administration of China, which oversees the country’s airlines.

The advice comes after a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study in August found that coronavirus can spread on airplanes, even among asymptomatic passengers.

In late March, a passenger aboard a flight from Milan, Italy, to Seoul, South Korea, picked up the bug despite wearing an N95 mask everywhere on the plane — except the bathroom.

Researchers said the passenger — who had been seated three rows ahead of asymptomatic fliers — used the same toilet as one of the infected passengers and that it was “highly likely” that’s where she caught the virus.

We’re required to wear a mask. I use a home made bandana that only covers my mouth. As soon as I leave the store, I remove it.

Last week, I walked out of the market and down the sidewalk. I caught a Grizzly Adams kind of guy act as if I had cooties by quickly stepping along side the wall.

I didn’t take offense. Though, I was surprised by the big guy’s conditioned response.

This past summer in the heat of July, there were two young people riding in a junky car down the country road with the windows rolled down and music blasting. They wore full face masks.

My favorite one is the tall, hotness guy. The hottie entered the market with no mask. I caught up and said, “You’re one of the brave ones.”

He said I could join them. I lowered my home-made bandana and placed my hand on his strong upper arm, gave it a sweet squeeze and simply said, “You’re taller than me.”

    He belted out a laugh.

He’s the third customer I’ve come across since this all began. What I noticed is they keep their head down and make no eye contact. Kinda like when you practice being invisible.

A few years back in Calgary and other parts of Canada (particularly Alberta as its a very right wing province), the was a bit of an uproar over Muslim women wearing burkas, as it hid their identity and I guess this scared people. There were tales floating around about men wearing burkas - to hide their identity, and then robbing stores; I don't know if that was true or not, maybe, but anyway it cause a lot of fear and hoopla and the city even thought about whether or not there should be laws banning masks in store.

Many store owners started putting up their own signs on their front doors stating "NO MASKS ALLOWED"

The Liquor store I used to go to had one of these signs on the door. Then the city mandated that masks were required in all stores and were required to put up signage to that effect. So the store owner just taped the "Masks mandatory" sign over top of the "No masks allowed" sign ... and you could clearly see the other sign behind it ... the contradiction is pretty funny. Amazing how fear can be disguised as practicality without question ...
When you are one step ahead of the crowd, you are a genius.
Two steps ahead, and you are deemed a crackpot.
