Facebook Fact-Checker Funded by Chinese Money Through TikTok
BY PETR SVAB December 10, 2020
    https://www.theepochtimes.com/facebo...g-2020-12-10-2

"While Facebook portrays its army of fact-checkers as independent, the money behind at least one carries a distinct taint.

One such fact-checker, Lead Stories, is partly paid through a partnership with TikTok, a social media platform run by a Chinese company that owes its allegiance to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). TikTok currently is being probed by U.S. officials as a national security threat.

Moreover, the organization that’s supposed to oversee the quality of fact-checkers is run by Poynter Institute, another TikTok partner.

Lead Stories says it’s been contracted by ByteDance “for fact-checking-related work,” referring to TikTok’s announcement earlier this year that it has partnered with several organizations “to further aid our efforts to reduce the spread of misinformation,” particularly regarding the CCP virus pandemic, which originated in China and was exacerbated by the CCP regime’s coverup.

Lead Stories was started in 2015 by Belgian website developer Maarten Schenk, CNN veteran Alan Duke, and two lawyers from Florida and Colorado. It listed operating expenses of less than $50,000 in 2017, but had expanded sevenfold by 2019, largely because of the more than $460,000 Facebook paid it for fact-checking services in 2018 and 2019. The company took on more than a dozen staffers, about half of them CNN alumni, and became one of Facebook’s most prolific fact-checkers of U.S. content.

This year, the funding sources included Google, Facebook, ByteDance, and several online advertising services. Advertising brought it less than $25,000 last year, the group said.

“The bulk” of the funding still comes from Facebook, it says.

Part of its revenue comes from subscriptions to “Trendolizer,” its viral content tracking tool. “For privacy reasons, we cannot reveal the list of Trendolizer users … but none of them individually accounted for more than 5% of our revenue,” it says.

The Trendolizer website only shows three pages “powered” by it: Trendolizer.com, LeadStories.com, and StoryTide.com, a news aggregator started by LeadStories in 2016.

Lead Stories didn’t immediately respond to emailed questions from The Epoch Times."

This explains the election censorship: YouTube has been infiltrated by Chinese Communist Party-linked engineers

Monday, December 14, 2020 by: JD Heyes

(Natural News) In recent days, YouTube made an alarming announcement that the video platform behemoth would begin censoring any content questioning the deep state narrative: “Joe Biden won and is now your leader — accept it.”

Even while the Trump campaign and others were legally contesting the results for Biden in just enough swing states to ‘win’ — challenges that were accompanied by literally hundreds of witness statements in the form of sworn affidavits, the platform issued its blanket dictate: ‘There shall be no content allowed questioning Biden’s legitimacy.’

    Now we know why.

As reported by the National Pulse, YouTube employs several software engineers who have ties to the Chinese Communist Party, and since we all know that Biden and his spawn do as well, that explains a lot.
    Here’s what the outlet discovered:

Tai Jinjiang is a software engineer who’s been with YouTube since 2019 and who previously worked for Guanghzou Shian Technology as a project manager. Tia provided details about his work for the firm, which is based in China, noting that he played a “major role in successful PLA certification of ShiAn terminal by [the] Minister of Public Security, State Secrecy Bureau, and IT Evaluation Center.”
    Notes the National Pulse:

In other words, Jinjiang led software efforts on behalf of the PLA – appearing to reference China’s People’s Liberation Army – and a host of Chinese government-led intelligence bodies. What’s more, he notes he “garnered numerous staff awards for excellent performance.”

Xiao Chen is listed as having become a software engineer at YouTube last month. He previously worked as a research assistant at Sun Yat-Sen University, which recently sent a researcher to the United States who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI over his China ties. The university’s Supercomputing Center has been on the U.S. government’s entity list since 2015. The list contains “people and companies the U.S. government deems a national security risk.”

Xifei Huang is another software engineer and has been with the platform since February 2014 though he previously worked as a developer for Peking University in Beijing.

Researchers from Peking University have been sentenced in the U.S. for stealing American intellectual property and for failing to disclose to immigration officials their Chinese Communist Party affiliations.

“The university also counts former and current party apparatchiks among its leadership, including its leader: a former head of the country’s spy agency’s Beijing branch,” The National Pulse noted.

Fan Yang has been employed as a software engineer by YouTube since April 2017 after doing an internship at China Telecom, which has been deemed by the Defense Department as having collaborated with the Chinese military for at least 20 years.
Fan was a research assistant at Fudan University, which recently took out “freedom of thought” from its charter after acceding to demands from the Chinese Communist Party. During Fan’s stint as an assistant, five Chinese military-tied hackers based at Fudan University were indicted for pilfering U.S. secrets.

    The National Pulse adds:

The unearthed ties cast YouTube’s decision to ban all content disputing a victory for Joe Biden – the Chinese Communist Party’s preferred candidate – in an interesting light. It similarly calls into question reports of YouTube automatically deleting Chinese-language phrases critical of the Chinese Communist Party, which the platform attributed to “an error in our enforcement systems.”
The revelations also add to a growing list of American tech corporates hiring Chinese Communist Party-linked individuals including Facebook and Twitter.

As previously reported, ‘China Joe’ Biden and son Hunter have extensive business and financial ties to the ChiComs. What’s more, nearly his entire transition team and several people he has chosen to be in his Cabinet, if he is, in fact, actually inaugurated, also have close ties to the Communist regime in Beijing.

So essentially, after four years of Donald Trump trying to break down the ties China developed with U.S. officials and corporations, Biden is getting ready to reinstate them and give Beijing’s authoritarians a seat at the table of American government.
Where is the ‘mainstream media’ now? Or are they still focused on the ‘Trump-Russia’ lie?

Stay current with the growing China threat at NationalSecurity.news.

Chris Martenson's video update yesterday was his second-shortest ever. He now encourages everyone to go to his site (peakprosperity.com) and register to view his uncensored content. It has to be behind a register wall to keep the googlebots from it.

(Richard Dolan does much the same thing these days, but his is a paywall. Chris Martenson's is free.)

Instagram is Using False “Fact-Checking” to Protect Joe Biden’s Crime Record From Criticisms

The Facebook-owned platform’s denunciation of a well-established view of Biden shows the dangers of internet censorship and the fraudulent use of “fact-checking.”

    Glenn Greenwald 18 Dec, 2020

A long-standing and vehement criticism of Joe Biden is that legislation he championed as a Senator in the 1980s and 1990s, particularly his crime bill of 1994, contributed to the mass incarceration of Americans generally and African-Americans specifically.

Among the many on the left and libertarian right who have voiced this criticism (along with President Trump) is then-Senator Kamala Harris, who said during the 2020 Democratic primary race that Biden’s “crime bill -- that 1994 crime bill -- it did contribute to mass incarceration in our country.” When Hillary Clinton was running for President in 2015, Bill Clinton, who as president signed Biden’s bill into law, told the NAACP: “I signed a bill that made the problem worse. And I want to admit it.”

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) told Biden during a 2019 presidential debate: “There are people right now in prison for life for drug offenses because you stood up and used that tough-on-crime phony rhetoric that got a lot of people elected but destroyed communities like mine.” Booker then said in an interview with The Huffington Post that that Biden’s “crime bill was shameful, what it did to black and brown communities like mine [and] low-income communities from Appalachia to rural Iowa,” also denouncing it for “overwhelmingly putting people in prison for nonviolent drug offenses that members of Congress and the Senate admit to breaking now.”

In 2016, author and scholar Michele Alexander argued that Hillary did not deserve the votes of black people due to her and her husband’s support for numerous bills, including Biden’s 1994 crime bill, that led to the mass incarceration of African-Americans. Harvard’s Cornel West said in 2019: “When [Biden] says [the 1994 crime bill] didn't contribute to mass incarceration, I tell him he has to get off his symbolic crack pipe."

While that debate over the damage done by Biden’s crime bill has long raged in Democratic Party politics and the criminal justice reform movement, it is now barred from being aired on the Facebook-owned social media giant Instagram, or at least is formally denounced as disinformation. With Joe Biden about to enter the White House — one that will exercise significant influence in determining Silicon Valley’s interests, will be filled with tech executives, and was made possible in large part by Silicon Valley’s largesse poured into the Biden/Harris campaign — Instagram has arrogated unto itself the power to declare these well-established criticisms of Biden and his crime bill to be “False” and having “no basis in fact.”

As first noted on Monday by former Sanders campaign organizer Ben Mora, Instagram publicly denounced as “False” a post on Sunday by the left-wing artist and frequent Biden critic Brad Troemel, who has more than 107,000 followers on that platform. Troemel’s post said nothing more than what Biden’s chosen running mate, Kamala Harris, has herself said, as well as numerous mainstream media outlets and countless criminal justice reform advocates have long maintained.

Troemel posted a 1994 photo of a smiling, mullet-sporting Biden standing next to then-President Bill Clinton. The photo contained this caption: “Find someone that looks at you the way Biden looked at Clinton after Clinton signed Biden’s crime bill into law. Bringing mass incarceration to black Americans.” This was the same photo and caption which an anonymous Trump supporter under the name “realtina40” first posted back in June.

Shortly after Troemel posted this on Sunday, Instagram appended a note in red letters, with a warning sign that read: “Learn why fact-checkers have indicated that this is false.” That was followed by a note plastered over Troemel’s original post with the title: “False,” and which claimed “independent fact-checkers say this information has no basis in fact.” The same thing was done by Instagram to the original post from “realtina40” back in June.

This is not the first time Troemel has been censored by Instagram for posting criticisms of Biden. In response to questions, he told me he first earned the “false” label when posting a meme in April which he had created that mocked Biden’s campaign messaging. Instagram’s retaliation happened after the Biden campaign loudly complained about Troemel’s satirical ad. Biden campaign operatives falsely blamed the Trump campaign for having created it, and then induced Twitter to censor it.

As Troemel told me: “Here you can see Dems using the Russia-tinged cover of disinformation as a way to discredit any and all criticism of Biden found on social media.” When Troemel re-posted that meme last month with the clear notation that it was satirical, Instagram began “shadow banning” him: severely limiting the reach of his posts. It was those events — all involving Troemel’s criticisms of Biden from the left — that caused Instagram to heavily scrutinize his postings, culminating in its blurring of his latest post with a “False” label that contained these well-documented criticisms of Biden’s crime bill.

The only thing that is demonstrably “false” here is Instagram’s Biden-shielding assertion that there is a “fact-checking” consensus that this criticism of Biden’s 1994 crime bill is false. It is true that one media outlet, USA Today, fact-checked the identical claim posted back in June by the anonymous Instagram user and concluded that “our research finds that while the crime bill did increase the prison population in states, it did not bring about a mass incarceration relative to earlier years.” But that article so concluded even while admitting that Biden’s “crime bill did increase the prison population in states” and “any increase in the overall prison population would automatically translate into a larger number of Black inmates.” The article’s own premises thus bolster, not refute, the claim at issue.

But numerous other media outlets and fact-checking organizations — far more than just one — concluded the opposite: namely, that there is at least a reasonable and substantial basis for these claims about Biden’s bill:

    PolitiFact rated as only “Half True” Biden’s claim that the 1994 crime bill “did not generate mass incarceration,” noting the bill provided funds to states on the condition that they force prisoners to serve longer sentences and that it bolstered the tough-on-crime climate that led to higher incarceration rates in the states (that was the same point Bill Clinton made to the NAACP: “the federal law set a trend…. [W]e had a lot people who were locked up, who were minor actors, for way too long”);

The Washington Post’s designated fact-checker Glenn Kessler assigned two Pinocchios to Biden’s insistence that his crime bill “did not generate mass incarceration,” noting that “the bill encouraged states to build more prisons — with more money coming to them if they increased penalties.” Kessler cited a Brennan Center report that “the 1994 Crime Bill is justly criticized for encouraging states to build and fill new prisons.”

    The Post added: “There are many factors that contributed to the United States having such a high incarceration rate, but few dispute the crime bill was a contributor. Bill Clinton has acknowledged this.” The paper’s “two Pinocchio” rating means Biden’s denial contains “significant omissions and/or exaggerations….Similar to ‘half true’”);

CNN purported to fact-check the same claims from Biden and found that Biden’s denial “misses the broader impact that federal policy can have on the way that states incarcerate, including the influence of federal money,” concluding that the view that the 1994 crime bill was a significant factor in mass incarceration was, at the very least, debatable.

The fact-check from NBC News flatly stated that “though the bill was not the root cause of ‘mass incarceration,’ it was ‘the most high-profile legislation to increase the number of people behind bars,’ according to a Brennan Center analysis in 2016.”

Fact-checking Sen. Booker’s accusations against Biden, The Atlantic said: “it is true that the bill—which extended the death penalty to 60 new crimes, stiffened sentences, offered states strong financial incentives for building new prisons, and banned a range of assault weapons—helped lead to the wave of mass incarceration that’s resulted in the United States accounting for 25 percent of the world’s prison population.” It added that “a 2016 analysis by the Brennan Center concluded that the 1994 bill contributed both to the subsequent decline in crime and to the doubling of the rate of imprisonment from 1994 to 2009.”

The New York Times’ fact-check of Biden’s denial rated it “Exaggerated,” quoting a criminologist to say that Biden’s bill “encouraged [states] to mass incarcerate further.”

Regarding Biden’s denial that his 1994 crime bill “led to more prison sentences, more prison cells, and more aggressive policing — especially hurting Black and brown Americans,” Vox pronounced: “The truth, it turns out, is somewhere in the middle,” noting that “the law imposed tougher prison sentences at the federal level and encouraged states to do the same” and also ensured “an escalation of the War on Drugs.”

One could spend literally all day listing media outlets, criminal justice experts, and politicians from both parties who have insisted that Biden’s 1994 crime bill was a significant factor in mass incarceration generally and of African-Americans specifically, or that the assertion is at least reasonably debatable and grounded in empirical facts — exactly what Instagram has decided is out of bounds to state. It is axiomatically true, or at the very least logically reasonable, that if Biden’s crime bill led to more mass incarceration — and few doubt that it did — then the bill, in the words of the denounced Instagram post, “brought mass incarceration to black Americans.”

On Monday, The New York Post sought comment from Facebook about Instagram’s “False” label. The tech giant, in the words of that paper, said “that Instagram won’t end its censorship unless USA Today changes its assessment.” Yet the Post — long an advocate for tough-on-crime legislation — itself echoed virtually every other media outlet by noting that “whether Biden’s law contributed to mass incarceration is a matter of debate.”

Indeed, from what I can tell, USA Today is the only prominent media outlet of all the ones which fact-checked this issue to conclude that the claim about Biden’s bill is “false.” The overwhelming consensus of fact-checkers and experts is that the 1994 crime bill at the very least contributed to mass incarceration generally and of African-Americans specifically, and that the magnitude of that role is debatable.

But Instagram has closed this debate, at least on its platform. They have announced that the claims about Biden’s 1994 crime bill as expressed by not only Brad Troemel — but also Kamala Harris, Bill Clinton, Cory Booker, Cornel West, the Brennan Center and countless others — has been proven false.

Free Speech Streaming Site Bitchute Deplatforms Law-Abiding Nationalist Groups On Behalf of Leftist NGOs

    Eric Striker
    Dec 18, 2020

Alt-tech powerhouse Bitchute has grown exponentially, going from a humble volunteer project to a rising Youtube competitor. Yet after tasting a degree of success, it is now finding itself mired in controversy over betrayal of its founding beliefs.

While the platform itself is technically clunky, the key to its business model is their promise to protect political dissidents and not censor their speech.

But last week, members of the Sweden-based activist organization, the Nordic Resistance Movement, were shocked to find that Bitchute not only deleted all of the videos on their official channel, but actually put them on a "Proscribed List of Terrorists" alongside ISIS and Al-Qaeda. By placing NRM on the list, Bitchute can get around its promise to defend free expression by claiming they are an officially designated violent terror group.

NRM is not engaging in armed struggle and it does not have a militia, nor does it engage in terrorism. It is an above-ground advocacy organization that runs candidates in Swedish elections. The group does not hide its activities, and its actions are published to their website for everyone to see.

The main goal of NRM is to create a united confederation of Scandinavian nations through political, not violent means. The group takes painstaking efforts to obey the law and prohibits members from engaging in violence except in cases of self-defense, as "Antifa" groups often target them.

Bitchute's designation of NRM as a "terrorist" group seems to stem entirely from a controversial ruling by Finnish courts to ban the group's local branch. The Finnish government was pressured by Israel to ban the Finnish activist group in September 2020 after Israeli diplomats claimed their embassy was vandalized following an anti-war protest, even though the culprits were never actually identified.

Also on Bitchute's terrorist list is Golden Dawn, the Greek nationalist group that until recently held 18 parliamentary seats and was the country's third largest party. This year, Golden Dawn's parliamentary bloc was declared a "criminal organization" and imprisoned.

Neither NRM or Golden Dawn are classified as terrorist or criminal organizations in the UK. British companies are not tethered to the rules and whims of individual European Union states. Bitchute's choice to take away the voice of dissidents while they face unfair political persecution is selective and self-defeating, making the whole concept of free speech pointless. Last July, the Chinese government declared leaders of the Hong Kong protests to be terrorists, yet they are not banned from using Bitchute.

A spokesman for the Nordic Resistance Movement told National Justice that he believes Bitchute's owner, Ray Vahey, is buckling under Jewish pressure. Last June a UK-based Zionist organization, the Community Safety Trust, listed Bitchute as a "purveyor of anti-Semitism" because it allows members to criticize Jews and discuss the Holocaust. The next month, Bitchute released a press release vowing to give Hope Not Hate -- the British equivalent of the Southern Poverty Law Center -- say over who can and cannot use their platform.

Bitchute has been able to grow largely thanks to support from political dissidents who groups like Hope Not Hate would love to see banned. Censorship is always a slippery slope, by shutting down legitimate political parties and parliamentary groups facing political oppression, Bitchute ends up being nothing more than a buggy and small version of Youtube.

Really Comcast? Data caps during COVID-19?
    https://action.consumerreports.org/20201221_finance
    12/21/20

"Comcast: Drop the internet data cap and fees! It’s hard enough for so many of us to be home together sharing the same internet connection for school, work, and streaming. But Comcast plans to make it even harder for American households during the pandemic!

The nation’s largest internet service provider is slapping a data cap on all its customers’ internet usage, and charging overage fees that could top out at $100 a month!

Help us stop Comcast’s money grab! Sign our petition demanding Comcast stop this data cap before it goes into effect next year!

    Sign the petition

Beginning in January, Comcast has said it will place a 1.2 TB internet data cap on its most of its residential customers. And starting in March, it will start charging customers who go over that cap fees that could add up to $100 a month.

During this national health crisis when affordable and reliable home internet is more important than ever, Comcast’s decision to cap data and charge big overage fees is just plain wrong.

Join us in telling Comcast to be part of the solution — not part of the problem — in helping American families learn and work from home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Sign the petition https://action.consumerreports.org/20201221_finance

This is a critical moment where we can get Comcast’s attention before they implement the data cap and fees. Please share this with friends and family so they can help us put on the pressure.

Well, what grates completely here is the wanton ignorance of context.

Donald Trump's statement yesterday was addressed as a 'thankyou' to all those who attended the rally in support, and not related in any way to the incident that took place at the Capitol building. As is typical of the mainstream media and behemoths such as Facebook is the deliberate conflating of his statement to that incident. Donald Trump made no mention of the incident in that statement and no inference should have been made to the contrary.

One only need listen to it, properly in context to know just how mendacious this statement from Facebook is. Zuckerberg, clearly one of Satan's many concubines but we knew this already.

But we are of course dealing with the enemies of humanity here so one shouldn't be too surprised, sadly.

Only a matter of time, now, before my ISP decides PA is too "dangerous" for me to read.

A Prof Dolores Cahill video link via Vanessa Beeley's The Wall Will Fall website was "blocked" by (I think) Google yesterday - browser issue I think - claiming that this "material wasn't legal in your country" (paraphrasing). Today, it's fine.

    It was this link: https://thewallwillfall.org/2021/01/...-mrna-vccines/

Twitter, Facebook and now Steve Bannon’s War Room got nixed off YouTube. They’re @podbay (audio), @parler and @pandemic.warroom.org is a list of other places.

@ 20:40 - Part One: Professor John Eastman, the president’s constitutional lawyer breaks down what happened yesterday and with Vice President Pence. (10 minutes)

@ 35:10 - Footage where Kelly Loeffler reneged on her promise to fully object to the certification of the votes to the people of Georgia and to Trump at the rally less than a day before where he encouraged Georgians to get out and vote for her. Her reason? Because of the violence, lawlessness and siege of the Halls of Congress… Steven Bannon points out that a couple of hundred million dollars was raised to get her back into the Senate. Up to that point Loeffler was vague on where she stood on the certification. It wasn’t until she realized that her chances of winning were waning that she came up on stage and made that promise.

@ 36:30 - Part Two: Professor John Eastman continues. (10 minutes)

Donald Trump is also on GAB, and GAB will be the way to go forward. Mark my words, Parler is up to no good, all it will do is shuffle everyone off into an echo chamber. I follow a lot of news on Twitter, and I am not a member. Parler? Yeah, good luck with that. I cancelled my membership months ago, when I saw what was going on with it.

I got @DonaldJTrumpOfficialPresident from Gwin Ru's link but it said I had to be verified. So I spent the last bit of time trying to sign up on Parler because I had to be verified to join Trump. What a hassle. They expect you to give them a cell number, so I gave them my old one. The password was 12 letters and symbols and they said it wasn't 'safe enough', so I allow my computer to generate one. Again it wasn't 'safe enough'. So I went back to the 12 letter one and added another 4 strokes. Finally I made it but got kick off right away. I tried to log back on and they've instructed me to create a new account.

In my search for President Trumps parlor address I found: ThePotus45. I learned that it was a fake one. I don’t know if it’s true because this link supposedly has posts by President Trump.

I tried to sign up as well. I have an account now, after a long struggle, but when I click on my profile to change my profile name, it says my profile name (which they automatically assigned to me) doesn’t exist....

I now know why Donald Trump has been quiet between his first and last video message. He was busy trying to get an account on Parler!

I bookmarked President Trump on Gab a while ago: realdonaldtrump. Also, x22report and iPot1776, but the Gab site won’t come up.
