Hello Artycarl, this comes from another former member "Ontarioguy" and he joined this site the same day that you did. March 16th, 2010. Ontarioguy decided recently to leave Avalon as well as he felt it no longer had the same "flavour" that it did back in the first 3/4 of the 2010 year. People come and they go, and who knows, certainly some will perhaps return. The important thing is to follow ones heart! Ontarioguy felt that something had definately changed, and the change , whatever he felt it was, no longer resonated well with him. And that is allowed right? Ontarioguy wishes nothing but blessings to all at Avolon.

I dont want to make a huge fuss about this or to fanfare my own departure from Avalon but the feeling I get from being here has changed this year and I am no longer happy being a part of it.

My instinct is that all this 'Charles' material has flooded Avalon and diluted many important messages and I feel personally that things have changed for good and it is time to find a new home.

I guess what you and many other elders have been feeling is comparable to having your kids already moving out of the house, things getting easier, living for yourself, you get to read the morning paper and BOOM, yet another baby appears from nowhere........here we go again, you love the newbie, although it keeps you awake at nights, does not know how to go to toilet, doesn´t speak a language familiar to anyone, a pain at times, but finally after a while it will be worthwhile, even if you feel like you´re too old for this hsit!

I definitely can understand your and many others frustration, you´ve done 126 posts in a year, I bet thinking long and hard about each and everyone - and here we are, newbies posting 126 a week.. I being a father of two, but also not very far from being a child can relate to both situations, I ask for patience, just like a child would, with absolutely nothing(if evergrowing demand doesn´t count ) to bargain with, other than the promise that even the tiniest child will grow and in general they are darn qute.

This all applies to Atticus too, you have been demanded truckloads of patience this far.

Certainly Avalon is a big place and we can all fit in here, compartmentalised but flowing between sections. So the site may be a sister site, that Atticus is considering creating.

In order to protect certain people here who may want to stay out of that specifc spotlight, I see that it may be necessary. To protect Avalon's Identity.

But also, in a way, it is not exactly taking the Bull by the horns, is it.

It seems a rather difficult scenario. Wherever the battle goes, to transcend the gameboard, I'll be there.

People didnt like Elvis when he sprung on the scene. Why ? Some didnt like the way he danced, that he challenged morals, it changed and swayed people to a new thing. But in the end Elvis was the King ! good or bad its only a personal opinion at the end of the day. Does anyone now wish Elvis never existed, retrospectively speaking ? I dont think so..

in order to have a better future we need to have a basic air of acceptance. Charles shared a personal story with us about the Jewish man he met at the pub. What was the legacy of what he stood for that got through to a man like Charles ? Acceptance, Accepting people for who they are good or bad. If we dont then we are just one of them ... Yes that poor man got kicked to the ground , they hurt his body but they didnt get to HIM !

Its pretty hard for us to all be Angels.. We are not there yet... And in all honesty when you point a finger there is 3 fingers pointing back at you. So what am i trying to say .. Look at what we have here. We have access to an extrodinary person who is willing to answer questions about our future who has an inside track. Its a 2 way street , we are all to benefit in the end retrospectively speaking .. Having Charles here .. its crazy , ominous , exciting , he could be the devil ! he may be a saviour ! I dont know but i feel alive being in the moment.

What it will show us ultimately is who we are. Lets grow the confidence to look at this in the eye , that's what its about, because if we cannot negotiate a forum how are we to survive out there ?

Id like to end this with a story i told a worthy adversary that i came up against in my life. He was a very powerful business man that wanted to take me out. And he very nearly did but in my first altercation with him one day i sated to him this , My friend you are a great South African Lion, powerful and strong and i am but a small bull ant .. But please remember this, the bull ant is at the top of the food chain ! you can imagine how he looked at me after saying that .. lol

I know how you feel, I'm considering doing the same myself. There is no unity on this site anymore and no support from it's leaders, I feel like we are part of some experiment.

Perhaps this is about protecting whistle blowers from the flack of the forum. Not just Atticus but any whistle blower can be hurt by callous and hate full comments coming from members of Avalon... The dynamics of Avalon change not just from new members but old members too. We say we are kind all loving spirits but we seem to have trouble putting that in the comment sections. This is by no means all but enough to make a solid difference.

I would suggest that all whistle blowers have there very own section of the forum that is protected from the flack, petty name calling and belittling, that has been happening.

This section would be a read all basis and perhaps invite only... And hurtful, spiteful commenters will be down graded so that commenting for them would not be allowed in those sections. Also the whistle blower has the right to down grade anyone from their section as deemed necessarily. So it would be like a buffer zone between the forums.

As we have seen many times before whistle blowers leave because of the actions from a few. If we want to continue this way that is fine, but it will keep happening unless the mechanics of the forum change. Or we grow up and stop being nasty... Of course this is to late for the past whistle blowers they are just pages in the book of Avalon.

Perhaps in the new paradigm that we are all waiting for will be nice, kind and loving to each other.

Rather than start a private forum, may I suggest that Charles be invited to our chat room as a more intimate environment, security permitting?

We have a longstanding member who is announcing his intentions to depart the forum, and then suddenly it becomes the Charles thread with "please don't leave Charles".

Where are you guys when a thread goes seriously O/T? As I remember, mods were quite active on this sort of thing prior to that auspicious date of 1/1/11.

It seems every post anyone makes these days is somehow related to Charles, but IMO this is a hijacked thread. This would have never been tolerated by the mods prior to the circus event.
