Default Re: The Blue Book Fail, Dr James McDonald, Science In Default, AAAS, December 1969, Boston

    • Investigating the UFO investigator Dr James E. McDonald:

    • Dr. James E. McDonald September 24, 1968 lecture, UFOs: A Case Study in Public Mis-information, at Kent State University, OH:

    • Rare audio on Westall UFO Encounter - James Kibel talked to Westall teacher (1966) [QUFOSR]:

This video contains rare audio of James J. Kibel (commonly confused as James E. McDonald as it was later sent to him) discussing the infamous Westall UFO incident after meeting with the science teacher who witnessed the object. I believe this is the first copy to be posted on YouTube and is relatively rare.

Here are notes of interest below if you're having trouble understanding the audio:

    - Science master, two other staff and 300 kids watched a UFO maneuver over the school

    - 5 planes tried to intercept the UFO

    - Science master was in the same club as Mcdonalds brother-in-law, a bizarre coincidence. Because of this connection Mcdonald invited the Science teacher over and discussed in depth what he witnessed.

    - Believes it wasn't the officials who squashed the sighting, it was the head master. He was so scared he refused to go into school yard even after it was back in the sky.

    - When the Royal Australian Air Force tried to contact the headmaster he told them 'go jump in a lake'

    - Children ran into science masters room hysterical so he went to look himself

    - Couldn't see UFO at first but saw other children looking towards the north-east

    - When he joined the children he saw the UFO hovering just above power lines

    - Science master described the object as a bright silver object, size of a tire with a 'bar/rod' into the air.

    - At this point he noted a light plane moving towards it about 1000ft up, 2000ft from where he was standing

    - Now joined by more children and the physical education teacher they watched

    - The light plane supposedly called in other planes and 4 converged on object with this light plane

    - Science master says most amazing flight maneuvering he ever seen in his life commenced, planes were doing everything possible to approach the object. Amazed there was no collision.

    - Every time planes got near the object it would slowly accelerate, then rapidly accelerate away from the planes and then stop again. Every time they chased it would do the same.

    - This continued for 20 minutes, by this stage 360 people (children, staff) were watching

    - The thing shot away in seconds (I don't know if I heard that correctly, so sorry)

    - The headmaster then come out and demanded everyone to return to their classes at once and gave the school a lecture. He told the students they would be punished if they discussed it and told staff they'd lose their jobs if they did.

    - Science master has 3 degrees, was not stupid. He was very annoyed with the headmaster

    - When asking the PE teacher to describe what she saw in detail she wouldn't say anything

    - One of the older children confirmed the full story and accurately described the object. When going to re-ask the student she was no long there, she had gone home and wouldn't discuss it again.

The Westall UFO encounter is an event that occurred on 6 April 1966 in Melbourne, Australia. For more than 20 minutes 200 students and teachers at two schools allegedly witnessed an unexplained flying object which descended into a nearby open wild grass field. The paddock was adjacent to a grove of pine trees in an area known as The Grange. According to reports, the object then ascended in a north-westerly direction over the suburb of Clayton South, Victoria, Australia.

    Much more background-info here

    cheers,
    John

Default Re: The Blue Book Fail, Dr James McDonald, Science In Default, AAAS, December 1969, Boston

Thank you John for creating a whole thread of probably one of the most important scientists as regards the science behind UFOs. James McDonald was an inspiration for those future scientists that were open to his research findings. In particular, James McDonald conclusion that we have tentatively a “surveillance” of the Earth.

Discovery of UAP patterns as a “surveillance” of the Earth?

It was James McDonald and team over a two year period of research, Principle Scientist statement to the House Committee on Science and Astronautics in 1968 on UFOs “are probably extraterrestrial devices engaged in something that might very tentatively be termed "surveillance" (McDonald 1968).

McDonald was an inspiration for future scientists to explore this possible “surveillance”

Early research into UAP patterns had been carried out by Aime Michel (Michel 1958) and Bruce Cathie (1963) Eamonn Ansbro (Ansbro 1992, 2001) Roy Dutton (Dutton 1998).

However, the work of Ansbro and Dutton theoretical research did provide correlations with timed UAP events that have been confirmed at a number of locations around the Earth.

UAP patterns can be traced back to the 1880s. However, the data on the best 1300 reliable multiple witnessed and sensor recorded reports out of 30,000 reports demonstrated a pattern of activity that correlates with this theoretical model. The model demonstrates the discovery of orbital tracks around the Earth that are synchronized with the rotation of the Earth. Where the orbital tracks intersect at specific locations at specific times is where UAP events may occur. The model demonstrates a controlled autonomous surveillance of the Earth by NHI over the last 140 years since known UAP records. This is a pre-aeronautical period when humankind didn’t have this form of technology. (Ansbro 2001)

In particular, the scientific rigor of the Hessdalen Project in Norway had a ninety per cent recordings of light BOL phenomenon with the additional EMBLA 2000 mission witnessing a triangle craft (Ansbro, 2001). Light BOL phenomenon in the Hessdalen area has had a history of UAP activity with a category of constructs like triangles, cylindrical, and disc type craft.

Similar, constructs at another established scientific station SETI Kingsland, Ireland (Ansbro 2017) correlated with the patterns, using multiple platforms and multisensory capabilities of recordings showing similar categories as in Hessdalen. One interesting discovery was that through triangulation of multiple sensors what can only be described as a ‘portal’ was recorded by means of which the constructs may be using a multidimensional location for appearance and disappearance of their constructs. Measurement of high magnetic anomalies were also correlated at this location. In the case of Hessdalen the UAP constructs were unfortunately left out of publications due to the very sensitive nature of the taboo in politics in science of revealing such constructs. This has been a common behavior by science journal editors of research papers been rejected over the decades.

Confirmed experiments of events using computerised timing graphs at 27 locations in 8 countries provided windows of opportunity when these events occurred within qualifying tolerances of time in order to fit the model.

    • Ann Druffell - The Firestorm: Dr. McDonald's Fight for UFO Science:

Firestorm : Dr . James E . McDonald ’ s Fight for UFO Science by Ann Druffel

Like Dr. James E. McDonald, I am a mainstream ‘‘establishment’’ scientist who, at a certain point, became convinced that the UFO phenomenon deserves serious consideration. There, the resemblance between me and McDonald ends. In my case, I decided, very early on, that my particular mix of strengths and weaknesses was such that active effort by me on this problem was unlikely to be dramatically productive, and also would require such effort and time that I could not expect to have a normal scientific career if I were to pursue it. I therefore simply dropped it, except that I could not, in conscience, refrain from lending my name to the support of the legitimacy of this study. For example, I serve today on the National Board of Directors of the Fund for UFO Research (FUFOR), which funded Ann Druffel’s archiving of McDonald’s UFO files. And, I write an occasional book review: my slowly evolving views on UFOs, if they are of interest, are described in JSE 15, p. 385, 2001. McDonald, in contrast, attempted to continue his very successful scientific career, and to elucidate UFOs on top of that. And he did a great, wonderful job of it, as I have now learned from reading Ann Druffel’s fine biography. From her book, I have learned for the first time that McDonald’s suicide had nothing at all to do with his UFO involvement. I dearly wish that we had someone to take McDonald’s place, for, to my mind, the principal value of Druffel’s book is not for its biography of a superb scientist, valuable as that is, but rather for the book’s systematic exposition of the seriousness of the UFO issue, as ferreted out by McDonald. My own interest in UFOs began forty years ago, and it is depressing to me that, forty years on, I find myself in exactly the same position as then. Why has there been so little progress? Reading this book suggests why. It hardly comes as a surprise that our society is conservative, and that most scientists, like me, are not up to what McDonald did. This is not unique to UFOs (and other areas that are regarded as ‘‘fringe’’ science), it even applies, as I have discovered, to mainstream science. I am thinking of the place of quantum mechanics in human attitudes toward the world. What happened with quantum mechanics, is what would likely have happened, had Galileo decided that Copernicus was wrong, and had therefore written his famous book to reflect that incorrect conviction. (And, please, don’t think that to be an impossibility, without re-reading Galileo’s ‘‘Dialogue.’’ One thing that shines through, is just how difficult Galileo himself found it, to believe the Copernican idea.) In the case of quantum mechanics, the ‘‘modern Galileo,’’ Albert Einstein, most unfortunately rejected the completeness of quantum mechanics, with the result that today, while everyone does use Journal of Scientific Exploration, Vol. 17, No. 4, pp. 743–782, 2003 0892-3310/03

Indeed ... patterns of mass deception did not change:

The way Professor Dr. James E. McDonald was treated in the 1960s** by the vast majority of so called "academics" and the so called "free press" (the "guardians" of democracy) is not much different how UFO/UAP is treated in 2021 but on another level.

Similar evasive/dodging tactics ... suppression of real good UFO/UAP cases ... hiding so so much more evidence etc. etc.

We are all put up with yet another pathetic BS Report to give the appearance of "transparency" & "accountability" which is clearly NOT the case.

There are so many (deep) layers & aspects to this UFO/UAP topic it is obvious they can compartmentalize all (sub)-groups of research & development NOT openly discussed by lame-stream mass media.
    • I would not be surprised when a decade from now, they tell they found another secret government UFO/UAP research/study group having 10 times more material (better cases) ... then another 10 years they find another secret government UFO/UAP research/study group having even more evidence.
    • The term "UAP" (Unidentified Arial Phenomena) was already used 22 years ago by NARCAP founder Dr. Richard Haines (mainly focused on 3000+ Pilot UFO Cases around the world) ... also systematically ignored by mass media ... they either act dumb on purpose, or they ARE dumb about it, what is worse here?
The best way to measure the quality of ANY (pseudo) UFO-'Skeptic' (UFO debunker) is how he or she is able to make an honest representation & accurate summary of that what they attack ... As long we can prove they can't ... they lose all credibility just like how CNN works.

** (leading up to Official Government UFO Hearings ... which surprisingly most 'common' people now, never heard of ... and why it is so important part of real Government UFO History!)

Quote At a Congressional UFO hearing on April 5, 1966, Air Force Secretary Harold Brown defended the Air Force's UFO studies and repeated the O'Brien Committee's call for more studies. Hynek repeated his call for "a civilian panel of physical and social scientists" to "examine the UFO problem critically for the express purpose of determining whether a major problem exists." Shortly after the hearing, the Air Force announced it was seeking one or more universities to undertake a study of UFOs. The Air Force wanted to have several groups, but it took some time to find even a single school willing to accept the Air Force's offer. Both Dr. J. Allen Hynek and Dr. James E. McDonald suggested their own campuses, Northwestern University and the University of Arizona, and others suggested astronomer Donald Menzel. All were judged too closely allied with one position or another. Walter Orr Roberts, director of the National Center for Atmospheric Research, and Menzel suggested physicist Edward Condon of the University of Colorado.

ps. maybe it is time for me to start a new "UFO/UAP Lectures Tour 2021-2022" again ... but this time it will be different ... as I have to sift through 1000s of new material most "common" people never heard of and select the best new cases worldwide most (if not all of) mainstream media willfully ignores.

Try to search for: "Congressional UFO hearing on April 5, 1966" using Google Search engine ... it only forwards to government (summary) statements debunking the importance of real UFO research! ... I remember long time ago (1990s) listening to the authentic audio recordings of military testifying on those Congressional UFO Hearings in 1966 (my birth year)... Not to be found via Google ... I wonder why.

It is as if they want to erase that part of UFO History.
