In this 109th in a series of live discussions with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (both PhDs in Biology), we discuss the state of the world through an evolutionary lens. This week, we talk about many things Covid. Obesity is a well-established comorbidity for Covid, but the mainstream media often insists that stigma, rather than actual physiological reality, is what puts fat people at risk. Why do public health injunctions so rarely offer anything that individuals can actually do for themselves? Children are at very low risk from bad outcomes from Covid. What are we stealing from them that we have no right to steal—with masks, physical distancing, and other interventions? Australia: Protesters set Old Parliament House in Canberra on fire
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-59824914

Australia's former parliament building in the capital Canberra was briefly set alight on Thursday by protesters during a demonstration for Aboriginal sovereignty, police said.

No-one was injured in the fire, which engulfed the Old Parliament House's front doors before it was put out.

It follows a fortnight of protest activity at the site, police said.

Protest violence on this scale is rare in Australia, but flare-ups have become more common during the pandemic.

Some of the protesters had identified themselves as part of anti-government and "sovereign citizen" groups, observers said.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison condemned the violence, saying: "This is not how Australia works."

"I am disgusted and appalled by behaviour that would see Australians come and set fire to such a symbol of democracy in this country," he said.

Workers inside the heritage building were quickly evacuated once the fire broke out on Thursday.

The current residents of the building, the Museum of Australian Democracy, had on 20 December shut its doors after indigenous protesters held a "peaceful sit-in".

The museum said it recognised protesters' rights to a peaceful protest. It has not yet addressed Thursday's protest.

Indigenous campaigners have been holding demonstrations in the lead-up to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy on the former parliament's front lawns.

The tent embassy was a protest occupation site that launched national discussion about indigenous land rights. It has been a permanent fixture on the lawns outside Old Parliament House since 1992 but is not always occupied.

Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Police said activity had escalated at the site in recent weeks.

Australia's parliament moved to a new building a short distance away on Capital Hill in 1988, but the Old Parliament House has remained as a museum and national heritage site.

Government lawmakers condemned the attack on Thursday, with several describing it as an "attack on democracy".

"Setting fire to a building is not a lawful protest, it is a crime and a serious one," tweeted the deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce.

His predecessor, and current MP, Michael McCormack said: "Old Parliament House is on fire with protesters screaming "Let it burn! Let it burn!" How disgraceful. An outrageous attack on our democracy, our history, our sovereignty. This modern penchant for tearing down our past serves no purpose."

ACT Police said they had launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.

Wow, isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black? Our current sitting PM (Scott Morrison) and his crony “government lawmakers” have completely destroyed democracy in this country already. A bunch of malcontents setting fire to a front porch pales in comparison to the damage that this sellout PM has brought down upon the nation. No wonder the people are angry. I think the PM needs to get perspective.

What about when the police opened fire on their own people [during the non-violent protests in Victoria]? Wasn’t that a blatant attack on democracy? Was that the way Australia works? Why didn’t Scott Morrison condemn that?

Shock as Australia's expert panel on immunisation reveals it NEVER recommended controversial Covid vaccine mandates be put in place

    Daily Mail Australia
    8 December 2021

Australia's expert immunisation panel has distanced itself from state-enforced Covid-19 vaccine mandates and says it never recommended them.

The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) insists no recommendation was made at any time to the states regarding mandatory vaccine rules, which have sparked widespread protests across the country.

The advisory body was grilled at a parliamentary committee hearing on Wednesday, where it was asked the controversial mandates are still necessary if 90 per cent of the population are double jabbed.

'ATAGI has not provided a recommendation for mandates at any time,' co-chair Dr Christopher Blyth replied.

'We believe in the benefits and safety of vaccinations, and how they are implemented and rolled out is absolutely up to the states' public health orders.'

Now, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, friends and enemies, this is one of the wonderful things about the Avalon community. Support among the membership, pure and simple. And how easy was that? A simple error, politely pointed out, and a simple correction made. Awesome.

Do you know, it shouldn’t really be a novelty to respect people like that. But, in a weird kind of a way, it is a novelty, when one compares this forum to others (reputable and otherwise).

It’s this kind of thing that makes me feel very comfortable posting views on this forum, and listening to / reading the views of others.

    • Australia Admits Widespread Severe Adverse Reactions From COVID Jab, Offers Compensation Payments To Victims
The Australian government admitted that the COVID-19 injection has resulted in tens of thousands of adverse reactions and is offering financial compensation to some victims, according to reports.

7News Australia reported on Friday that as much as 79,000 people have suffered from severe side effects from the COVID jab, and the government is prepared to dole out over $600,000 in compensation for some victims.

“Now the federal government is offering compensation for anyone who’ve become seriously ill after having their COVID shot,” the 7News reporter said.

The news segment described how some people developed pericarditis and myocarditis shortly after taking the jab.

“It’s estimated that 79,000 people have suffered adverse reactions to vaccines. Now the government’s offering compensation. Claims under $20,000 will need evidence from your doctor. Claims over $20,000 assessed by a team of legal experts. The highest figure reserved for only the most serious of cases,” the report explained.
Medical law expert Daniel Opare said expenses to deal with the jab’s adverse reactions can be costly.

“If you do suffer pericarditis, it can result in you being out of pocket, you might have to see a cardiologist, you might need procedures, so it is definitely appropriate that there is a vaccination scheme there to compensate those people,” he said.

But to even make a claim, victims must have spent at least one night in the hospital.
The CDC has updated its website in November 2020 to include myocarditis and pericarditis as possible adverse reactions from the jab, but still recommends every person over 5 years old to receive the injection.

The AHPRA basically ordering doctors how to doctor, unless they want to be investigated and possibly de-registered for disobeying AHPRA orders.

And the biggest order was all doctors must not interfere with the rollout of the vaccinations!

    I'll cut to the chase.

The truth of the matter is the people of Australia and the world are coming to understand is that what the 36,938 Australian doctor's are truely terrified about is losing " their "

    licence,
    business,
    income,
    lifestyle

which is MORE important to them than worrying about the welling being of their patients.

Reciting and pledging to the Hippocratic Oath is not taken literally anymore it simply a right of passage.

Either that or you have 36,000 doctors whom are well educated and financially capable of making a change being TOTALLY GUTLESS.

When this is all over no one will trust nor respect doctors ever again.

They'll be all facing Nuremberg 2.0 along with the politicians, MSM and other people whom lied and influenced this plandemic into being by their action, inaction or complicity.

I agree. I've stated this before.
Yes it's nice to see doctors, police, firefighters, pilots etc. etc. standing up against the jabs and other tyrannical measures.

But where were they months/year ago?

Only when the measures started to hit them personally did they begin to 'care about the public'.

‘Appalling message’: outrage over Novak Djokovic’s medical exemption to play Australian Open

"The decision to grant Novak Djokovic an exemption from Covid-19 vaccination requirements to play in the Australian Open in Melbourne has been labelled “appalling”, with some players expressing surprise at the late decision.
On Tuesday night, the defending Australian Open champion posted on Instagram that he was coming to Melbourne to participate in the tennis tournament with an “exemption permission”...."

Djokovic's exemption is based on the fact that he has diagnosed celiac disease.

https://7news.com.au/sport/tennis/no...lash-c-5200432 ..playin out to be quite the sh*7 show.

Meanwhile in NT, Mr Crazy Eyed Gunner announced lockout in Northern Territory from Thursday 1pm to Monday.. (two weeks to flatten the curve vibes.. remember that one?!)... anyways lockout for unvaxinated. *** Vaccine-Pass system will be introduced ***. I think like many other instances of encroachment will be extended and introduced to the other states once they get to gauge reception by public and what tweaks would be needed etc. Buckle Up Buckaroos!
