What does totalitarianism look like? In the 20th century, it took the form of secret police violently silencing anyone who spoke out against the government. Now, it has a very different face — one we should be wary of just the same. Rod Dreher, author of Live Not By Lies, explains.

It has been happening for a long time.

Hard totalitarism has its limitations, it is not quite total and its people know about it, seeking freedom and overthrow it when it becomes extreme and threatens survival. Soft neo-totalitarianism is the completion, is total and people are "happy" living in it. It is total because the great part of it is done by AI, no minor infringement can escape its sight. We are entering this totalitarianism from 2020, experiencing a tyranny never experienced before by mankind (Has all humanity been locked up, not free to make a living before?). Happy in this neo-totalitarianism because the integral part is mind control, believing big brother is good, much like believing that we have to endure the hardship because of a bad pandemic.
