They showed a clip on the news last night , neverr said who was chasing them or why which was really weird to begin with. Just said they were found and ok. I was left thinking what's this all about its even on the news?

Same here, but there has to be a reason.

I'm coming to the conclusion that things like this are to seed or reinforce ideas & concepts in the minds of the masses.

Seeing as generally people only remember a kind of condensed version, I'd go with "conspiracy theorist = mental illness" in this case.
