Default The importance of facing our emotions - shadow work

This bothers me quite a bit and gives me frustration. It’s the way our society is living. We have buried our emotions so much that we aren't even in touch with ourselves now. We have become disconnected. Why did this happen? For starters it goes back to our childhoods.

You all know and heard things like this " Hey why are you crying, stop it only babies cry" Our parent and peers taught us this and what has it done? We have grown up to think emotions are weak and this has cost us dearly.

Addictions are through the roof along with illnesses and obesity too. All of our diseases and addictions trace back to our unresolved emotions buried deeply within us. i have no scientific background so i can't prove it scientifically but i feel strongly about it. Many of us are not willing to look at the true source of our problems.

We would rather not go there and cover it up with alcohol abuse or the next high. But I believe in order to be truly free we have to look deep within. We have to dig out those roots that were planted in us.

This take a lot of courage and this is why i think shadow work is so important. Shadow work is the wiliness to look within at all of our unresolved emotions and pain and to allow it to come to the surface to be resolved. Imagine what the world would be like if we were taught this growing up?

Anyways those are just my thoughts

...and we need to support a good opening post like this one! Well said!

I took a minute to look up the meaning of shadow-work. To be honest, I am not sure if I had heard of it before although from the opening post I had a good idea. And I felt that I, myself, have been doing this for many years - some things take time but the rewards are felt quickly when you make progress.

    With a quick search...

What is shadow work? The shadow work meaning is as follows: Working with your unconscious mind to uncover the parts of yourself that you repress and hide from yourself. This can include trauma or parts of your personality that you subconsciously consider undesirable. Anyone can do shadow work on their own.

I can feel that many Canadians were traumatized when the peaceful protesters in Ottawa were met with brutality from a hired (from the UN?) police force.

People have lowered their heads. Here in Canada Bill C-11 is another threat to everyone. We are seeing lay offs of people in Canadian media now. Some might think this is a good thing, but the play might lead us to have fewer and fewer sources of news sources to review and get at the truth. Other people might not want to speak out online for fear of negative consequences.

We need to support everyone that we can at every opportunity - help people feel confident, supported and loved. Then they will likely do their own shadow-work.

I have heard that in the east there is a tradition, that it is acceptable for a person entering middle age, usually 40ish, to take some time to find a guru and learn to meditate with the intention to seek an inner knowing and a deeper meaning of some import. I believe even a few years is considered a reasonable devotion of time to the practice.

This pursuit often leads to shadow work, as it must if the adept is sincere and honest with themselves. No progress can occur until the person meets their repressed side. Under the proper guidaince the meditations and other work will of themselves require sometimes profound introspections.

Default Re: The importance of facing our emotions - shadow work

Shadows are intimately tied to our emotions in many ways including stifling them as Jay82 describes. Shadows are a term coined by Carl Jung to describe the personality traits and beliefs that we reject about ourselves because they are too painful to accept. Shadows are hidden deep within our unconscious mind and we are unaware of their existence because we have ‘disowned’ them.

Here are two books I have published for a friend who wants to remain anonymous. These books describe shadow work from different perspectives. The first book we published (The Inconsequential Child) was about his personal journey toward awareness of the problem and the path he took to "overcome emotional neglect". The next describes how to do shadow work but within the context of the Parent / Child Relationship.

The Inconsequential Child: Overcoming Emotional Neglect
An intimate memoir of one man's journey of self-discovery. The book is written in the form of a letter where each chapter conveys one of the lessons the author has learned during his journey toward emotional well-being, love and hope. The book centers around a series of memories which were the basis of the author's personal psychoanalysis. The memories are written as he remembers them; in his voice, often in first-person, present tense.

The author also offers both real-time and post analysis of the memories that have guided him through his journey. As such, the Inconsequential Child is not a self-help book. Instead, it is a book of possibility. The possibility that you too can heal as you walk along your path toward self-discovery. Also, please note that the author is not a medical professional and he is using a pseudonym.

My Kid, My Shadow: Fewer Triggers, Better Parenting, Less Guilt
Does your kid trigger you? Is he or she struggling, unhappy, lost, or just having a tough time? Are you wondering what you did wrong? Too many parents find themselves in this situation. They are frustrated and feel guilty because they believe they have failed their children and don’t know how to fix it.

This book delves deeply into the root cause of these problems and offers a life-changing method for resolving the issues at their source. As you read ‘My Kid, My Shadow’, you will come to understand the mechanisms at play when parents and children interact, and you will learn why children push their parent’s buttons so easily. You will see that this whole process is all so very normal, and you will realize that you are not the only parent who is struggling.

‘My Kid, My Shadow’ is more than just a parenting book. It is a book of self-awareness and self-discovery. It is based on Carl Jung’s work on Shadow identification and Shadow integration. It describes these concepts and processes in simple, pragmatic ways. If you are interested in pursuing inner consciousness work and self-discovery, you will find the information in this book tangible, practical, and doable.

Bernhard Guenther & Laura Matsue - TCM 95 - Learn How To do Shadow Work On Social Media
    46 minutes - Posted Oct 28, 2022

    SHOW NOTES
Laura and Bernhard talk about how we can use social media for self-work and shadow work. They talk about the dark side of social media, where people project their unconscious shadow, trauma, and pathologies on each other, the importance of boundaries, and what to do to navigate the internet consciously.

In the second hour, they talk about the epidemic of overt/covert narcissism and entitlement on social media, how to work with your narcissism, the lack of relationship and social skills, how plagiarism on social media has become normalized, the Agent Smith syndrome, how occult entities work through people on social media, and more...

Default Re: The importance of facing our emotions - shadow work

Thank you Norman for the link. I listened to the first part and found the content worthwhile and recommend folks listen to it with the following caveats:

I was intrigued because the title was “Learn How To Do Shadow Work On Social Media”. This made no sense to me because Shadow Work is an internal, self discovery process and I could not imagine doing Shadow Work with an external focus ON Social Media. After listening, I would suggest a more accurate title of “Use Social Media To Do Shadow Work”. I believe this is an important distinction because a first time listener will easily be confused thinking that they can actively participate in Social Media and do Shadow Work at the same time. You can’t.

Having said that, I agree with their suggestion to use Social Media to:
    • Identify things or people that trigger you from Social Media
    • Do your Shadow Work (in private) so that you are no longer triggered in that way and therefore stop feeding the negative/unhealthy energy.

I like the idea of using Social Media to identify your triggers. The book I listed above (My Kid My Shadow) does something very similar but it uses triggers sourced from the parent/child relationship and then identifies a process for doing shadow work so that you can heal yourself and also heal the parent/child relationship.

The podcast correctly defines shadows as that part of you that you deny or disown. Those traits resident deep within you that you don’t accept or acknowledge as being true for you. But they incorrectly use your outward response or behaviors as examples of shadows. They use anger and bitchiness as typical examples of shadows. I would argue that those external behaviors are not shadows; instead, they are how we manifest our shadows.

Shadows are the underlying trait or belief that cause you to be angry or bitchy. For instance, there are many, many reasons why someone is bitchy. Let’s say I am bitchy because I want to keep people from getting too close to me. My bitchy behavior puts up a wall between me and you and I am therefore not vulnerable. The next question is, why do I need to protect myself in this particular way. Why am I afraid to be vulnerable? The reason is often because of a wound that cut deep, so deep that it altered my way of interacting with everyone in the world. The answer to that question is the shadow. The shadow is the belief or point of view that I developed in response to that wound and often is used as a means of protecting myself from the pain caused by the original wound. Those beliefs (i.e. shadows) become fundamental personality traits and they reside deep within my unconscious mind.

Shadow Work is the process of uncovering those traits that we have repressed and disowned so that they no longer over power us and rule our lives.

Shadow work is very much an internal activity. Social Media is an externally focused activity. Yes, it is a great way to identify triggers which in turn open a small door into your shadows but, one cannot and should not do Shadow Work on Social Media (i.e. do not chronicle your shadow work on social media, keep it private and protect yourself).

If you plan to listen to the podcast, you may want to skip the first 12 minutes.
Happiness comes from within, nowhere else.

The Sacred Sacrifice & The Great Awakening
    Piercing the Veil of Reality
    Bernhard & Laura Guenther
    bernhard@veilofreality.com via s2.csa1.acemsc4.com

"The process of Awakening, especially at the beginning - the "Initiation" - is not an experience of a "great enlightenment" with feelings of "oneness, love, and bliss."

It is not merely getting "red-pilled" on an external informational level alone. That's just the first baby step and can become a distraction in itself (or worse, getting black-pilled, getting stuck in paranoia, doom & gloom) if the impulse to awaken is not followed up by the inner work.

Yes, the initial awakening impulse may have aspects of a positive experience at first as well [for some], but ultimately, it is a "Shamanic descent into hell" and suffering, battling with demons and our own thought creations based on shadow projection (that act like entities) within and without.

It brings up everything that is not in alignment with Truth – not what the limited monkey ego mind considers as "truth" in its oversimplified black-and-white thinking and tendency to externalize all evil - but anything within the seeker that stands in the way of realizing the true Self and embodying the Divine Force.

It is Law, and it is necessary; hence, as Sir Aurobindo said, metaphorically speaking: "None can reach heaven who has not passed through hell."

In other words, a true impulse towards Awakening brings up EVERYTHING - our wounds, blindspots, traumas, shadow, the lies we've been telling ourselves, our hypocrisy, and lower nature addictions and weaknesses which we previously have suppressed, avoided, or justified, projected on others, externalized and rationalized away - all of which the occult hostile forces target, tempt us with, and heighten for us to confront and transmute in the alchemical fire within - to help bring forth the psychic being (soul essence) within and to be reborn in one’s true Self.

Likewise, as our eyes and perceptions are cleansed through this initiation [and consecutive initiations] and ongoing internal work, we will see more and more evil in the world as the darkness is coming out of the shadows where it was lurking behind appearances.

Nothing is hidden anymore. All is revealed. Nothing can be unseen, and there is no turning back to the old self and old world. It's a widening on all levels. An Ascent and Decent at the same time. As Satprem noted: "The more Light the Seeker possesses, the more Darkness he uncovers."

You can only rise as high as you are able and willing to go into the depth of your own darkness and shine light into it, i.e., make it conscious. Hence, as Carl Jung said, "One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light but by making the darkness conscious."

We then realize that nothing was hidden all along but that we were living in a dream world, dreaming to be awake. This is the first step, symbolized in the film "The Matrix" when Neo first wakes up in the "real world", unplugs his tubes, and sees fields of humans plugged into the Matrix in their dream state as the machines were "feeding off" of them, harvesting them for energy/life force.

Neo came face to face with what Gurdjieff called "the horror of the situation." It is the first [necessary] shock for the seeker out of many more to come. These "shocks" are tests that not many people pass and hence try to go back to their old life and self, unable to let go.

At the same time, the more we make the darkness conscious, expose and reveal ALL [within and without], the more Light and True Love we can access, see, and anchor within ourselves and in the world - the more creative power, free will, and TRUE freedom we can access as well but this "Free Will" is not "our" own very limited egoic will anymore that lives under the illusion of "independence."

It's a higher level of Being in alignment with Divine Will - our higher/true Self, which acts as a transducer for Divine Will.

Once we tap into that infinite, all-powerful Force in surrender to the Divine, we will have the most powerful effect on the world, guided by the Divine as his faithful servant through every battle and hardship in the ongoing work to spiritualize our Being and the World, transmuting Lead [Ego] into Gold [Spirit].

This is the Great Awakening we're called to - the Great Adventure we're currently embarking on during this Time of Transition. Many of us came here purposely to be part of it - to engage in it and assist others.

But this journey is not a walk in the park. It's a long journey. There are many traps, detours, pitfalls, and temptations steering the seeker away from his mission - nor is everyone ready for it until a future incarnation cycle when the soul is ripe enough to answer the call and engage in the Great Work.

The inner call is the measure. Sincerity, Integrity, Surrender [to the Divine], and an unconditional sincere yearning for TRUTH, whatever it may turn out to be, are the Keys to the Kingdom of God [within]. The doors are shut to anyone else who does not pay with him/herself, for nothing is "free" in the entire universe.

As many ancient esoteric parables ask the question with many tests to pass through to see if the seeker is earnest and sincere: "Are you ready to cross the threshold and accept the sacred sacrifice?"

    Godspeed.
    Bernhard Guenther "

Jay-82, thank you for making this thread. I had no idea that after my awakening, I naturally started my 'shadow-work' process. I've read some of Bernhard's teachings and his wisdom is insightful and fascinating.

You are so right about people having repressed their emotions. A lot of my shadow work has to do with acknowledging my past traumas.. be it generational, parental and abuse ... it's something I realized as part of my ascension process: at the end of the day: only WE can help OURSELVES.

I turned my focus on meditations and self-healing through the work of Dr Joe Dispenza. His meditation teach you how to stop living in the past, letting go of ego (becoming nothing, no-one, being in no time and being no-where).. I find these meditations to be incredibly powerful and highly recommend them.

I was struck by this post as I am reading Sinead O'Connor's memoir, Rememberings.
I feel haunted by her life and death and have been watching many of her interviews. She was a wise and very soulful person and saw music as her therapy for living-- a means to work through trauma. The subconscious is an incredible part of the human design. So much is filed away here.

I am reminded of the twelfth house in astrology; that which lies hidden; our deep subconscious.
I am reminded of the movie title, The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Who are we without trauma? To feel lightness; to feel love, is to really feel free..Rest in Peace, Sinead.

HOW TO HEAL TOXIC SHAME AND NOT FEELING “GOOD ENOUGH” | TCM #84 (PART 1)
    THE COSMIC MATRIX PODCAST
    https://veilofreality.com/2022/05/19...U1YMvuXep%2FKB

    (Podcast--47 minutes--at the link)

"Bernhard & Laura discuss how internalized unconscious toxic shame relates to the “not good enough” program that drives many of our behaviors in life. They talk about the difference between shame and guilt, the importance of healthy shame, the various manifestations of toxic shame in people, the identification with the false self to cover up shame, and they offer several strategies on how we can begin to heal from shame.

In the second hour, they discuss the interrelationship between shame and our expectations, how many highly gifted successful people are driven by toxic shame, the importance of knowing your values and where your desires and goals really come from, the two main expressions of the false persona based on toxic shame, the different stages of healing shame, and more.

    Show Notes Part 1:
The core wound of not feeling “good enough”
    Toxic shame and shadow projection
The difference between healthy and toxic shame
The difference between guilt and shame
The interrelationship between healthy guilt/shame, conscience, and self-worth
Self-importance and self-pity are two sides of the same coin rooted in narcissism
Most toxic shame is unconscious in people
The matrix supports and feeds off the shame-based “I’m not good enough” program
Healthy shame is part of humility and our spiritual self
The two phases of shame: Shamelessness and Self-Righteousness
People sexualize themselves, and “sexual openness” is oftentimes based on unconscious toxic shame
The trap of identification, self-righteousness, and unconscious shame
The false self-formation based on unconscious shame
    Multi-generational shame
    Shame-based relationships
    Inner child work is imperative
The different stages of healing shame
The importance of seeking out help
Unfulfilled childhood needs and adult relationships
Society’s view of success and toxic shame
In Part 2 (only for members), we go deeper into:
The interrelationship between shame, our behaviors, and our expectations (idealized self)
Unconscious shame around money and relationships
The trap of looking for happiness and fulfillment externally (shame-driven)
Question where your values, desires, aims, and goals come from
Healthy shame points to our limitations with a grounded humility
People want short-cuts [insert any “goal”] but don’t invest their time, energy, and effort to study/learn or develop themselves
    The benefits of conscious struggle
The importance of knowing your real values in life
Two expressions of the false persona based on toxic shame: the successful super-achieving perfectionist (hailed by society as the “role model”) and the addict in the alley (seen by society as the “loser”)
Many highly gifted successful people are driven by deep-seated chronic depression and toxic shame
Many goals, aims, and desires people have are a cover-up for toxic shame, trying to fill a hole within
    Being and Doing
    Toxic shame is spiritual bankruptcy
How toxic shame originates in childhood with shame-based parents
Bernhard’s and Laura’s story of dealing with toxic shame
The shadow side of the “new man movement” and polarity teachings focused on personality traits in “how a real man is supposed to behave”
The more you base your internal state of “happiness” on external things, relationships, achievements, etc., the more you are acting from the false self
    Soul/essence qualities vs. personality traits
We can “waste time” and get stuck in our soul evolution "

It brings up everything that is not in alignment with Truth – not what the limited monkey ego mind considers as "truth" in its oversimplified black-and-white thinking and tendency to externalize all evil - but anything within the seeker that stands in the way of realizing the true Self and embodying the Divine Force.

It is Law, and it is necessary; hence, as Sir Aurobindo said, metaphorically speaking: "None can reach heaven who has not passed through hell."

But this journey is not a walk in the park. It's a long journey. There are many traps, detours, pitfalls, and temptations steering the seeker away from his mission - nor is everyone ready for it until a future incarnation cycle when the soul is ripe enough to answer the call and engage in the Great Work.
I like this a lot. Often when I speak of this phase of my own journey in discussions with people, particularly when talking about the shadow work of suppressed trauma memory recall, and not wanting that unfinished work to continue to create timeline fractures and quantic field entanglements for my own living children to resolve because I had not fully cleared these levels or been too lazy to undertake myself (hence the hefty miasmatic load so many starseeds were called to Earth to accept as part of the ground crew mission to assist with clearing, we as the cosmic cleanup crew) I would give the analogy of Gandalf on the bridge with the fire beast. He wants to make safe passage on that bridge
For his companions, so he alone stands the guardian stance and tells the fire beast ‘YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!’ (A minor mantra of mine called for at the right time!!) But, as the shadow descends, it whips his leg and he too must descend into the depths to understand its final demise.

    It seems all is lost.

So too does this phase of the dark night of the soul and phantom ego death. I feel it is the phase we are in right now on Earth.

But then later, Gandalf is visible again. Reappeared. He never ‘went’ anywhere. He was just… unseen.

This is the phase when one sequesters
To do the hardest of the inner work, whatever that may be for a given person, it varies greatly I think. Many friends disappear, jobs change, sometimes one looses a home, car,
Partners…. This is learning to trust one’s higher self, the process itself, and deepen into the stillness of knowing God Source Spirit, ONENESS. At one ment. Atonement. Forgiving one’s own shadow is perhaps the most complex task of all.

Forgiveness, I have come to understand for myself, is hard
To acheive if the pattern of behavior that needs forgiving is still in active play. It makes no sense to forgive an attacker who is in the act of attacking still. But, this is where the powerful stance of neutrality and the spiral energy of that zero point comes in… this is Aikido in core conceptualization as I tried to understand it years ago when being hucked around on a mat in old town san diego after my philosophy degree at UCSD taught me that to beleive absolutely nothing was probably the best most self-preservationist and stealthy maneuver possible at that moment in the late 1990s time fields.

Anyhow, after that Gandalf emerges As white… no longer grey.

    Sublimation of shadow
    Purification of alchemical essence
Restoration of original divine blueprints without all the mind control, the vast shadow that collectively has
Risen and wants to be seen.

It always amazes me that when i use the term ‘mind control’ it still meets
With such a lack of comprehension from very three-dee type people. How can we not acknowledge this very basic level of shadow we are all facing right now?

Not everyone wants to stand on the bridge with the fire beast, because even that gesture forces a recognition of divine mirror, of oneness, in that self-other contemplation. Embracing the shadow, falling down off the bridge <<WITH>> it…. KNOWING… that that is how it is healed.. is the hardest leap of faith. It is me. I am it. Transmute, release.

Complete spiritual deliverance for ones own shadow and even the shadow entities on an external level is an extraordinary act of COMPASSION. Its why in my second interview
With Steve Richards I balked at his refusal to acknowledge the role of compassion in acheiving liberation and true self sovereignty from the trauma timelines of causation.

That interview is still being hosted online here, scroll down to ‘Healing and Integration q and a with Off Planet Radio”

    http://https://www.metaholistico.com...inetics-media/

Compassion for Shadow is not a comfortable subject. It is not ‘allowing’… there is a important command of one’s
Space that is needed and necessary’… but… compassion itself is not well understood in this world at all.
Which is why we keep doing shadow work on a collective level.

Yes it is there, you have to scroll down a ways to get to a little mp3 player that will then allow you to hear the file. This is a page hosting all holographic kinetics media and this particular interview was not particularly well received because I challenge Steve Richards on a number of points, and the need for compassion EVEN when dealing with dark entities, in fact reading an entity its rights and transiting them IS an act of compassion, and this is not well understood or accepted…. YET.

So anyways yes the link works but you have to scroll down through quite a few other HK interviews to get to this particular interview.

    Yay!!!

Not sure if anyone can figure out how to do a direct imbed of it… I tried but I am pretty analog so its kind of a miracle when I ‘make the things do the things’ in the digital realm at all.

    😬😇

Thank you for your interest and persistence! However the whole HK thing played out in the 3D I will all ways be honored for the small role I played in helping this information find its way ‘out there’ into embodiment at this time as informational context, because if anything Steve’s work and these interviews really help to make the energetic concepts of the hologralnic nature of reality much more tangible in the sense of corroborating obtuse concepts with examples from lived experience.

It was and is an honor to be part of this level of human consciousness advancement occurring at this time…

Namaste to Steve Richards, Randy Maugans and Robin Ehlert (the HK practitioner who facilitated my sessions 10 + years ago) 🤍✨🌞 All is One in the Light.
Much Love across the miles and time fields!
Until we all find our way home… and the shadows are healed into wholeness.
