The Trudeau government has spent hundreds of millions of Canadian tax dollars to train and arm neo-Nazi groups in the Ukraine over the last decade, and now this.

The House speaker, a friend of Trudeau''s and a Liberal (party member), who was appointed by Trudeau, claimed that SS veteran Yaroslav Hunka "bravely fought against the Russians during WWII" ... wait, what? The man was a literal Nazi, invading Russia!

Not surprising ... Trudeau has a long history of blaming everyone and everything for his misdeeds, maliciousness, and incompetence, and trying to twist everything into some political propaganda of his own.

So, the report of this ugly incident has made the rounds of international internet, several times over, and even some pro-NATO media is exposing Turdeau's hypocrisy:

But the rest of these Canadian MPs should hang their head in shame. Not only should it have been obvious that a Ukrainian fighting Russia during WW2 was in fact fighting on behalf of nazi Germany against the Allies. But they also cheered Zelensky although he is currently collaborating with the Banderista nazis. Why is that acceptable?

It's disgusting is that these Canadian MPs are approving the transfer of billions of Canadians' taxpayer money to Ukraine as 'military aid', while ignoring Ukrainian corruption and nazi affiliation. They can't just plead ignorance all the time, their MP position comes with a duty of due diligence. All of these MPs should be subjected to mandatory history lessons about the role played by Ukraine in WW2 and Ukrainian attacks against Donbas residents since 2014, and stop all military support for Ukraine right now.

I saw that pathetic weaselly man uttering his perfidy laden drivel, and he looked like someone who'd fallen on his sword. U.S., British, Polish and Australian media outlets have all reported on the controversy. Hunka has not commented on the controversy.

Poland and Jewish groups have denounced the Waffen-SS Galicia Division for its role in killing civilians and involvement in massacres during the war. The division was also used by the Nazis to crush a national uprising in Slovakia, again prompting allegations of war crimes. Witold Dzielski, Poland’s Ambassador to Canada, has called for Canada to formally apologize for honouring Hunka. Katchanovski said MPs should have realized what was happening as soon as Rota introduced Hunka as a “Ukrainian Canadian war veteran from the Second World War who fought for Ukrainian independence against the Russians.”"

On Monday, Liberal Government House Leader Karina Gould attempted to move a motion to erase all records of the Speaker of the House of Commons recognizing a veteran of the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (a Nazi division), during the address by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's to Canada's House of Commons.

This decision was horrendous. But you shouldn't hear why from me.

This story is my colleague Marty Morantz's to tell.

Marty, the Member of Parliament for Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia-Headingley and a member of Canada's Jewish community, vigorously opposed the motion. But when he attempted to stand up and put his rationale for his positions on the record, Liberals tried to silence him.

There's a reason why Jewish community members repeat the mantra, "never again."

The generational trauma of the Holocaust has been born by a people who have had to fight wars on multiple fronts: overcoming the scars of millions of lost lives, rebuilding for the future, and confronting those who seek to erase the stain of Jewish genocide from human history.

But if there's one thing that Jews know, it's that when history is erased, lessons are forgotten.

Adolph Hitler's Nazi regime knew this fact well, too. It's why they attempted to erase the proof of their crimes instead of atoning for them or submitting themselves to justice. It’s also why Jewish associations worldwide continually seek to remind the world of the systemic, state-sponsored genocide of over 6 million Jews by the Nazi regime. And it's also why Holocaust deniers try to whitewash the Nazi regime's atrocities.

Friday's historic visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Canada should have been beyond reproach. However, the invitation and lauding of a veteran of Nazi forces - a veteran of the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS - in the House of Commons, inexplicably given by the Speaker of the House and not stopped by the Prime Minister's Office or any other of the countless people in Canada's protocol, foreign service, or national security apparatus, is inexcusable.

This incident gave the Russians a proof point for their propaganda, did a profound disservice to President Zelenskyy, and stained Canada's credibility in the global community.

However, this event should not be erased from the records of Canada's Parliament.

Instead, the records of Canada's Parliament should be filled, from here on in, with recognition from Canada’s current government of the utter inexcusability of this affair, atonement from this government for failing to prevent it from happening, and acknowledgement that the root of this incident was an unsavoury tendency of Canada's current government to attempt to use convenient revisionist history for political gain.

Instead of erasing what happened on Friday, Canada’s government should work to ensure that our Parliamentary records be now filled with government statements of apology to Canada's Jewish communities for a broken system that allowed a veteran of Nazi forces to be lauded. The fact that Canada's allies like Poland and Slovakia suffered grievous losses at the hands of the division that the individual in question fought with should now be imprinted in the Hansard by our current Prime Minister. And our Parliamentary records should now also be filled with reminders of how important it is to remember the past so that future generations do not whitewash the future.

It has been said that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. That Canada’s Prime Minister was absent from the House of Commons on Monday, and instead of being accountable for Friday’s incident sent his House Leader out to attempt to erase the record of its occurrence, is inexcusable.

Yesterday’s Liberal attempt to strike Friday's incident from the records of our nation was an ugly reminder of what survivors of the Holocaust know too well: that we must never forget. Deleting the text of the Speaker's words from Hansard would have only one purpose: to try to forget what happened, to wash the record clean.

Under no circumstances should Members of Parliament allow the Liberal government to erase the records of what happened.

Instead, we should be united in ensuring that Canada’s government take responsibility for its failure. The government must put onto the record a formal admission of culpability and a request for forgiveness. But most importantly, they should deliver action that sends a clear message to the world that such an egregious lapse of judgment will never happen again.

And if they can't or won't do that, instead of attempting to erase history, they should abdicate the position of power they hold, because they will have lost the moral responsibility to keep it.

History is rife with examples of attempting to erase history.

Lest we allow ourselves to forget that thanks to what the Liberals attempted to do today, Canada is no different.

A Polish government minister has launched a bid to extradite Yaroslav Hunka, the 98-year-old Ukrainian-Canadian man who fought in a German-Nazi division during World War Two and last week received a standing ovation in Canada’s parliament.

“In view of the scandalous events in the Canadian parliament, which involved honouring, in the presence of President Zelensky, a member of the criminal Nazi SS Galizien formation, I have taken steps towards the possible extradition of this man to Poland,” announced education minister Przemysław Czarnek.

He published a copy of a letter he has sent to the head of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) – a state historical body that has prosecutorial powers – asking him to “urgently [establish] whether Yaroslav Hunka is wanted for crimes against the Polish nation or Poles of Jewish origin”.

“Such crimes constitute grounds for applying to Canada for his extradition,” added Czarnek in the letter.

The fact that this celebration of a person involved with not just the SS but the Galician division of the SS (apparently especially notorious) in a prominent Western country is shocking enough, but the blatancy of it is even worse. The growing international outcry about this will hopefully help to open more eyes about what is going on in the increasingly dictatorial and ugly governments of the West.
One of our own notorious dictators, the Premier of the state of Victoria, has just announced his retirement, and I can't help wondering if the next appointment will be even worse.

The stomach-churning scene of the Canadian parliament giving a standing ovation three days ago to a former Waffen SS Nazi has by now made the rounds on the internet.

During Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's visit to Canada, and following his predictably bombastic pan-handling speech, House Speaker Anthony Rota went on to gush praise over a Ukrainian-Canadian in parliament that day: Yaroslav Hunka, a World War II-era Nazi, calling him “a Ukrainian hero, a Canadian hero” and thanking him for his service.

Two days later, Rota issued an apology for lauding the man, saying he had “recognized an individual in the gallery” and had subsequently become aware of “more information which causes me to regret my decision to do so.”

Just to be clear – since Rota was not – the individual he meekly referred to was Yaroslav Hunka, and the information which made Rota remorseful was that Hunka had been a voluntary member of 1st Galician Division of the Waffen SS – you know, the one accused of mass murdering Poles, Jews and Ukrainians in Ukraine and Poland, as well as committing other atrocities.

Whereas Rota claims he was unaware of Hunka's service as a Nazi, given that he had also praised Hunka for fighting “for Ukrainian independence against the Russians,” one can assume this is the service he referred to.

In his apology, Rota stated, “no one, including fellow parliamentarians and the Ukraine delegation, was aware of my intention or of my remarks before I delivered them.” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's office denied any knowledge of Hunka and his Nazi service, stating, “The Speaker had his own allotment of guest seating at Friday's address, which were determined by the Speaker and his office alone.” It seems highly unlikely, however, that the Canadian government would allow anyone into parliament without thorough pre-emptive screening when Zelensky, a visiting president, was speaking.

Whether Trudeau (and his Stepan Bandera-sympathizing deputy PM Chrystia Freeland) knew about Yaroslav Hunka or not, the question remains: why was he never brought to justice? He, or any of the other 2,000 SS Nazis Canada reportedly took in in the years following WW2. Having been accepted as anti-communist refugees with little to no scrutiny, these suspected war criminals and collaborators have been allowed to live out the rest of their days in peace, and most of them have done so openly under their own names, as the Simon Wiesenthal Center has repeatedly reported.

There is much to be said about Canada's history with Ukrainian Nazis. Not only did it take them in after WW2, but the government-backed Ukrainian Canadian Congress, which, until recently, listed Nazi-collaborator veterans organizations as members, as well as government-funded Ukrainian ‘youth centers’ that celebrate Nazi collaborators like Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevich. There are even monuments honoring Nazi collaborators and Ukrainian Insurgent Army criminals still standing in Canadian cities.

Canada has also supported modern-day Nazis in Ukraine itself, by training members of the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion on Canadian soil, although Canadian corporate media has in recent years attempted to downplay this.

Radio Canada reported in April 2022 that the Canadian Armed Forces, “did contribute to the training of soldiers of the Azov regiment in 2020, to the point where this unit is now boasting of being able to train its own soldiers according to Western standards.” The Ottawa Citizen, writing about this report, cited a 2017 briefing by Canada’s Joint Task Force Ukraine as saying, “Multiple members of Azov have described themselves as Nazis.”

In November 2021, the same Ottawa Citizen journalist wrote about Canadian officials meeting with leaders from the Azov Battalion in June 2018. Canadian officers and diplomats, “did not object to the meeting and instead allowed themselves to be photographed with battalion officials despite previous warnings that the unit saw itself as pro-Nazi.”

Canada (together with the US and Ukraine itself) has repeatedly refused to support UN resolutions against the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and racial discrimination, as they were seen as targeting Kiev. An overwhelming majority of member states has supported these resolutions, with Kiev’s other Western backers (like all the EU member states) and their allies (like Japan and New Zealand) abstaining.

If you've followed Canada's unrepentant support to Nazis, the parliament’s standing ovation for a former SS member becomes less surprising. It set off a small storm, with outrage expressed not only by Jewish rights activists and Moscow, but also by the Polish ambassador in Canada.

One can only hope that there were members of parliament who were sincerely appalled to learn they'd cheered for a Nazi. However, now that the apologies have been made, the outrage will most likely simply die down and Ottawa will continue supporting the same kind of people, as long as they are on the same side in the West’s proxy war against Russia.

After all, as Canadian researcher Tamara Lorincz noted, while everyone applauded the Ukrainian Nazi, “Not one MP called for peace, ceasefire & negotiations.” That’s the quiet part few are willing to say out loud – just as Canada apparently accepted SS “refugees” because they were fighters against the Soviet Union’s communism, just as Canada (and other Western powers) are willing to support terrorists if they are fighting against an “undesirable” government in the Middle East, so will Canada continue to cover for, give support to, and pretend to not notice a resurgence of one of history’s most atrocious ideologies as long as its adherents can be used against the current adversary – Russia.

For his part, Zelensky praised Canada for always being on the "bright side of history.” Just to recap: Canada helped destroy Libya, Canada indirectly supported terrorists in Syria against the country’s elected president, Canada housed 2,000 Nazis after WW2, and Canada supports Nazis in Ukraine now. Zelensky's definition of the bright (or right) side of history is peculiar to say the least.
