It saddens me.

I was a little surprised. I'd thought he'd have the presidential nous to at least say something impressively statesmanlike. That's rather a poor Fail.

I see there are already 6k replies. I can't see those without a Twitter a/c. Without derailing the thread, what's the general tone of the response? Most of his Twitter followers will be (or will have been!) his hopeful supporters.

He also received a doctorate and master’s degrees in law from the University of Virginia and Pace University before beginning his career firstly as assistant to the District Attorney of New York in 1983 and then settling into a position that would form a new direction in his life, as Chief Attorney for the non-profit organisation, Riverkeeper.

Riverkeeper’s sole aim was the preservation of the Hudson River and Robert really found his calling as he helped initiate environmental actions and litigate those companies responsible for polluting and contaminating the waterways.

Time Magazine heralded Robert as one of their “Heroes for the Planet” and this informed the decision to create the Waterkeeper Alliance – an umbrella organisation that helped spawn nearly 350 similar groups across the planet, all dedicated to promoting “swimmable, fishable, drinkable waterways.”

Conservationism and environmental concerns form the backbone of Robert’s service to the world, his commitment to ensuring clean air and water for all, is a truly admirable campaign. And, alongside this, he became Chairman of the Children’s Health Defense, a non-profit that looks at the spiralling epidemic of chronic health conditions and autoimmune diseases in children, reportedly a consequence of increasing exposure to certain dangerous chemicals.

His articles have appeared in a range of publications such as The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek and Rolling Stone. He is a fierce and uncompromising advocate for healing the planet and its people and promotes the need to protect our natural resources and allow everyone access to our most fundamental and essential rights.

As anticipated, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. withdrew from the Democratic primary to pursue a run as an independent presidential candidate in 2024.

"I'm here to declare himself an independent candidate for president of the United States. That's not all. I'm here to join you in making a new declaration of independence for our entire nation. We declare independence from the corporations that have hijacked our government. And we declare independence from Wall Street, from Big Tech, from Big Pharma, from Big Ag, from the military contractors and their lobbyists. And we declare independence from the cynical elites who betray our hope and who amplify our divisions. And finally, we declare independence from the two political parties," Kennedy told a crowd of supporters at Philadelphia's Independence Mall this afternoon.

It's pretty obvious that no human being is going to gain the US presidency that isn't an Israeli Zionist apologist, so this probably doesn't hurt - and maybe helps - his candidacy. It would have been more forceful if he had posted a photo of himself brandishing an automatic weapon, along with his "self-defense" warmongering statement lacking any nuance at all. He has absolutely no clue that this wasn't done by Palestinians but rather by Zionist-controlled, armed, and funded, Hamas. How can someone so intelligent about many things be so ignorant of the actual history of the occupation of Palestine and slow genocide of Palestinians?

...How can someone so intelligent about many things be so ignorant of the actual history of the occupation of Palestine and slow genocide of Palestinians?

I don't believe he is; and he was clearly nervous during his speech at the event, which I think is tied to his statements in support of Israel, aligning fully with the stance of the western establishment. I think if he crossed that line he would be in serious trouble, and could forget becoming president of the US.

I would also have condemned the Hamas onslaught, (as I would Israels' over the top retaliation, the full extent of which is yet to come, and it doesn't look good. That's easy for me to say, I'm a nobody... It is in the further escalation involving Iran, US funding of yet another war... that is where I expect Kennedy to draw the line. Let's see how he goes...

Kim Iverson gets part of it (that RFK, Jr. is clueless about Palestine and Israel), but then, she must not have seen the map of Palestine and systematic theft of land, over the past 75 years, to be saying that yes, Palestine probably should have caved-in and traded "land for peace." Just exactly what part of Palestine should the Palestinians have traded for peace, and when should that have occurred? 1967? The Israelis have already stolen 90+% of Palestine and sure as hell didn't trade it for peace. Kim, should they just surrender Gaza and the West Bank so they can finally live in peace - somewhere else (out of the range of Israeli missiles)?
