My own personal stance on issues like these (posting as a member, not a moderator!) is that there are sometimes some threads where the premise is one which I don't really agree with. With only quite rare exceptions, unless I feel I can post anything useful and supportive, I usually gently avoid the topic and just focus my limited attention elsewhere. (And that also applies when I just don't have a strong opinion at all!)

For those of you who might follow my posts (and thread presence!) very carefully, you might quite easily be able to see what some of those may be.

If we've all learned anything together during all these years as a community, it's that Social media discussion rarely changes anyone's minds. (That's a thread title.) The mods can see the echos and footprints of this sometimes, when members silently disappear never to return, or occasionally openly ask to retire or go on sabbatical.

Fairly often (but not always), this is because of disagreements that are either openly expressed (someone has posted something in strong opposition, maybe not always kindly or politely), or implied (there's a strong community feeling, often strongly stated, that e.g. the covid vaccination is harmful or dangerous; and so those who have received the vaxx, or are in favor of it, just quietly leave the forum).

We do know this happens. And it can happen because of political views as well.

So, please be kind. It's pretty important. By expressing your personal strong views on a highly charged topic, you may possibly be upsetting someone else. And on this particular issue, we have other places where opposing, or questioning, political views can be shared.

This is partly a satirical thread, so have fun. There are so many memes circulating which have NOT been posted on this thread yet, that there are some real opportunities here.

I've not been posting on this thread (or much at all really) but I have been following as it's been a rare beacon of humour, of remembering to see and feel the lightness in life, which is so vital in these times. I actually think humour is one of the most fundamental cosmic principles.

I've been feeling a sadness these past few days about the absence of Pris from this thread (and the forum). I already miss the enthusiasm, sharp intellect, curiosity and positivity that she has been bringing to the community.

Pris - if you're reading this, come back. You are much needed and appreciated!

I've bugged them over in the Sandbox thread a couple of times... So far there is no way to embed Truths. From what I gather, there's just not enough of a "demand" yet. I think the more people that inquire about it, the better.
Sure would be nice to have that feature.

I love Trump Rallies.
Could listen to them all day long.
Only a good documentary can beat it.
Incredible to think that the man who regularly pulls in crowds of tens of thousands to every rally, as opposed to every other campaigning politician, could be considered tied in the polls with his rival.
That is the joke.
That with fake news media, the story can be slanted, and the votes stolen, so that the people's choice - MAY NOT WIN THE ELECTION YET AGAIN!
Even the RNC is against him, which is truly incredible because Trump is a shoe in for the presidency - if only his party would rally behind him like the American people do they could ride his coattails to power.

If there was a way to grab and embed Truth Social posts with BBcode I could set that up and implement it forum-wide in maybe 15-20 minutes. But there isn't. For now it's simply not possible.

That's new information to me, thank you. There's gotta be a way (eternal optimist here).... It seems that X has no problem embedding Truths... How the heck do they pull it off (unless they've got some kind of special arrangement)? We'd miss half the good stuff on Trump if it wasn't for people here posting from X. I try to find what I can without having to join any social media platform let alone those that require personal/private information... so I'm rather limited. Regardless, I appreciate that you've tried, Mark.

It's called an API, Application Programming Interface. In basic terms it's a suite of tools that builds a bridge between software applications, from the likes of Twitter, IG, Facebook etc, to other platforms, allowing them to interact.

Twitter's API preambles says:

The Twitter API is a set of programmatic endpoints that can be used to understand or build the conversation on Twitter. This API allows you to find and retrieve, engage with, or create a variety of different resources including the following:

• Tweets
• Users
• Spaces
• Direct Messages
• Lists
• Trends
• Media
• Places

Truth Social doesn't have an API (at least it hasn't yet released one), so it doesn't have any ability to translate its content to non-native platforms.

I agree, that would be awesome! Trump knows it's a scam, he's mentioned pulling out before unless, perhaps, there's huge changes (but would rather leave). (I couldn't find the reference in the video.)
