Default David vs Goliath: a killer lawsuit just waiting

Hi all, This one really gets to me. Google sucks we get that and they are a huge monopoly with deep pockets. We the little people have no chance against the machine unless something like a class action lawsuit could happen. Here's the rub, for years I have refused to monopolize my youtube channel because I did not want viewers to think the content was made for ad revenue. Well Google just went ahead placing ads on all my content collecting revenue without paying the content creator one red penny. This seems wrong is so many ways. Without the content creators Google wouldnt make a penny. Certainly I as one individual couldnt go up against them but it seems like a winnable lawsuit IMO.

copy your content to X & monetize there... at least it's "mostly" better than Youtube

You don’t need or want Google. Google may want you but it does not need you in particular. There are viable alternatives for you. Use one or more of them. Create your own. You’ll be much better off in the short and long run.

For many people, the phrase “Class action lawsuit” has a sexy ring to it and many believe it implies success at the end of the day. I’ve been involved in several class action lawsuits, defending against them, and I’m here to tell you that a class action ain’t what it’s made out to be for the plaintiff and the putative class, that is, the potential plaintiffs of the class.

Class actions take years. They are won or lost by the defendant, or lost or won by the plaintiffs, at the class certification stage. But what ever a judge does regarding denying or granting class certification, it is usually appealed. Years pass. There is no relief for the plaintiffs. Plaintiffs grow weary and discouraged. Their lawyers quit because they can’t afford to carry the financial and other burdens.

The big corporation often win in the end because they’ve got the money and lawyers are a dime a dozen for them.

That is the stark and often unfair reality of litigation in general, and class actions in particular.

There is much more to be said about the world of class actions, but what I’ve said here sums it up.

One thing I've noticed about demonetized independent channels on youtube, is that ads will pop up at the very point of critical or controversial information being presented. Looks like the timing of these ads is more about distracting the viewer than anything else. It's probably not about Google making money. Isn't google mostly under deep state control?

Another reason for content creators to move to other platforms.

I agree with all the comments above and maybe a class action lawsuit sounds good but not so easy. Still my main point is how can we the citizen have a fair chance fighting the big machine? After all don't you think its wrong that Google can take advantage of content creators? Also it's not that easy to upload the years of filming and historical timeline that is currently on Youtube platform and move it over to another platform although I do agree in theory about another platform but most of them even Rumble hasnt opened up many different categories like youtube has. For example when you want to watch a how to video the place we go is Youtube. They are still the monopoly so again how do you win against that especially if the case seems so easy to win?

You win by not losing. Don’t play their game. They make the rules for us, which they arbitrarily twist and turn to meet their needs, and there are no rules for them. It’s a zero sum game and to them we are the zeros.
