Emotionally, he torments you, making you feel either excessively or insufficiently, always finding something to fault you for. Yet, he won’t allow anyone else to harm you. He’s a deficient friend who desires the best for you. He yearns for you to transcend your fears, to eliminate anything that intimidates you, eradicating all taboos.

And you’ll never ascertain if he was the finest friend you ever had, with his unconventional methods, or a disguised adversary. You’ll never know. Occasionally, if you overcome the traumas he subjects you to, you’ll question him. You’ll contemplate the challenging moments when he was your sole companion, alongside his questionable methods and his toxic interpretation of friendship. You’ll remember your parents’ warnings about him. Then, having survived, a victim of Stockholm syndrome, you’ll reminisce about everything he brought into your life, wearing a wistful smile, still incapable of addressing the question.

Yet, ultimately, doesn’t what doesn’t destroy us only make us stronger?
