Coals and Water - Angel Snow

Fortune tellers dancin' 'round inside my head
I'm tryin' not to lose everything she said

Even someone standin' at the foot of my bed last night
This mountains gettin' higher with every step
I'm trying not to lose everything I've kept
Captured by the fortune tellers in my mind

Ooohh, they always come back again
Every time freedom tries to pull me out
    They suck me back in
Oooohh, we gonna' let that fire burn you
Tell me how your gonna' walk on coals and water too

"Can you taste these words fallin' from my mouth?
Ain't old fashioned love what it's all about?"
I heard an old Black man shout Christmas Eve

Should've known better than to run to you
My heart started talking to me way to soon
Damn those fortune tellers in my mind

Oooohh, they always come back again
Every time freedom tries to pull me up
    They suck me back in
Oooohh, we gonna' let that fire burn you
Tell me how your gonna' walk on coals and water too

So tell me how your gonna' walk on coals and water too

I just stumbled across this song from about 10-11 years ago, and it doesn't seem to posted here anywhere.

we will not go down - michael heart- ( lyrics)

Quote A blinding flash of white light
Lit up the sky over Gaza tonight
    People running for cover
Not knowing whether they're dead or alive

They came with their tanks and their planes
    With ravaging fiery flames
    And nothing remains
Just a voice rising up in the smoky haze

    We will not go down
In the night, without a fight
You can burn up our mosques and our homes and our schools
But our spirit will never die
    We will not go down
    In Gaza tonight

    Women and children alike
Murdered and massacred night after night
While the so-called leaders of countries afar
Debated on who's wrong or right

But their powerless words were in vain
And the bombs fell down like acid rain
But through the tears and the blood and the pain
You can still hear that voice through the smoky haze

    We will not go down
In the night, without a fight
You can burn up our mosques and our homes and our schools
But our spirit will never die
    We will not go down
    In Gaza tonight

    We will not go down
In the night, without a fight
You can burn up our mosques and our homes and our schools
But our spirit will never die

    We will not go down
In the night, without a fight
    We will not go down
    In Gaza tonight
The only place a perfect right angle ever CAN be, is the mind.

Thumbs up Re: What music are you listening to now?

Prepare to have your heartstrings pulled by a 15 year old with a paralyzed stomach who just won't take no for an answer. Many people would have caved in to the question of still pursuing a career in singing. Emma Kok's determination pervades every note and expression.

As André Rieu said, she won The Voice Kids Holland in 2021, but this year she competed in another TV talent show in Holland called Ministars and she also won that. She used the price money to create her foundation called Gastrostars. She is quite small for her age, because she has a stunted growth because of her disease. She's connected to two tubes 22 hours per day since she was a baby and she has to carry two pumps with her that pump the nutrients through the tubes into her body. Now she usually carries the pumps with her in a handbag or a backpack, but in an interview she told that when she was still in primary school, she would carry these pumps with her in a walker for kids and that she was bullied by other kids calling her names because of this and because of her being small for her age. Now she can laugh at those kids, because she might be small, but she makes up for that with her huge voice and incredible talent
    • Love to hear from all French 🇫🇷 speaking Avalonians if this young Dutch 🇳🇱 girl Emma Kok (15 years young) sings in the French 🇫🇷 language good enough! Not the singing, but pure if she does not make mistakes in the French 🇫🇷 language.

Just some additional info to point out how incredibly brave this 15 years old Emma Kok is:

    - Two foodpumps are connected
    - The pumps are with her 22/24 hours
    - She was bullied at school

The audience (appr. 12.000 heads) is mainly Dutch 🇳🇱, but also from Belgium 🇧🇪, Germany 🇩🇪, Luxembourg and France 🇫🇷. Part of the audience does speak French and knows exactly what Emma is singing. This makes it even more emotional.
    • The lyrics translated to English 🇬🇧
    "Listen to me
    Me, the wannabe singer
    Talk about me
To your loves, to your friends
Tell them about this girl with black eyes and her crazy dream
Me, what I want is to write stories that reach you
    That’s all

Here, here, here, here I am, Here I am
even if stripped naked I am afraid, yes
Here I am in the noise and in the silence

Look at me, or at least what’s left
Look at me, before I hate myself
What to tell you, that another’s lips won’t tell you
It’s not much but all that I have I drop it there, that’s it

Here, here, here, here is who I am, Here I am
even if stripped bare it’s over
It’s my mouth, it’s my cry, here I am too bad
    Here, here, here, here
I am my dream, my desire, like I’m dying, like I laugh at it
Here I am in the noise and in the silence

Don’t go, I’m begging you stay a long time,
It may not save me, no
But to do without you I don’t know how
Love me as we love a friend who goes away forever
I want us to love me because I don’t know how to like my outlines

Here, there, here, here I am, Here I am
even if exposed it is finished
Here I am in the noise and in the fury too
Look at me, finally, and my eyes and my hands
All that I have is here, it’s my mouth, it’s my cry
Here I am, here I am, here I am
Here we are, here we are, here we are

    Here I am".

    cheers,
    John 🦜🦋🌳

@timdoyon1694 quote: "I’ll keep this brief; my daughter Mandy suffered with the same disease. A few short years ago, I got a call while on my lunch break that my baby girl had somehow secured a pistol and shot herself in the head. It destroyed me. In a flash I collapsed and have not been able to get back up. Within the next few weeks, I lost my fiancé (because I couldn’t focus on her anymore), I lost my career at Anheuser Busch because I couldn’t focus on my work anymore, and I lost my home since I couldn’t make the mortgage payments anymore. My health deteriorated until I had a brain bleed followed by a stroke that left me without a voice. I then ended up in a hospital on suicide watch. I was there for a month, and then went looking for somewhere safe to sleep. I’ve become so numb, that I stopped feeling anything. Then I stumbled across this video of Emma Kok. To see this gorgeous little Princess perform this song truly moved me, and I started to cry again. I cried myself to sleep, and woke up and listened to it again and again. I wish I could hug her and thank her for helping to mend my broken heart. That was a world class performance of epic proportions. The whole world should listen to it. At least for me, it was life altering. I’ll always miss MY little Princess, but it’s time to start trying to live again". unquote

@JaapFilius quote "To start with: I think not a single person had the slightest idea how much response this video would have. Emma is hooked on tubes 22 hours a day, every day, since she was a little baby. So actually she has not more than 2 hours a day total freedom as we take that for granted 24 hours a day.... I have so, so much respect for her (being 50 years older than her can't change that). What a brave little fighter!! Her voice seems to be made for this genre. Emma learned the lyrics phonetic and with help from a French woman: in the Netherlands we don't speak French.... She performed fearless in front of a 12,500 audience, which is a thing, so to speak. No, in this video we don't see a healthy Angelina or Amira (to mention 2 awesome singers) but a small girl with some serious health issues who do this. To me, that makes it even more impressive. And then (last but not least) shout out to André Rieu. After these performances (there were 10 concerts) he has invited Emma to go with him and his orchestra on World Tour, early 2024, and to sing in his Christmas concerts, next December. I mean: he knows very well that Emma will need a little more care than healthy people do, so to me those invitations are humanity at his best: he opens the door for Emma so she can make her dream, being a singer, a reality immediately". unquote
    • comment source here
@misterc8866 quote: "This young person is music, is art in perfection! Starting several times one bar before, the orchestra alone proves a somnambulist security in what they do. She demonstrates incredible hearing and incredible tone stability. Her sensational holding of the notes, ending every word - not a wrong beat. Not a wrong note. Her incredible swinging between her belly and head voice, her completely natural vibrato, her oscillation between delicate breath and powerful vocal volume. "Ne partez pas, j'vous en supplie restez longtemps" - this heavenly and angelic fragility. Her beat and tempo, her unearthly jump a semitone higher without orchestral help. Her completely natural singing of Chanson's typical chant, only to unpack an unearthly vocal volume moments later. And above all - her absolutely professional interaction with the audience and the orchestra, her phenomenal stage presence. The whole time, she is talking to the audience - at 15 years old!!!! Many 50-year-olds can't do that. This girl is a new Edith Piaf. But not the dark, black, hopeless and pain-tormented Piaf - but a fun-loving, thirsty and incredibly strong young artist. In my opinion, Emma has lifted the French chanson into a new sphere. This girl doesn't sing music - she IS music. And if there is a god - with Emma he has created a work of perfection! From the first note it leads the master, the orchestra and the audience. I've never experienced anything like that. And especially not from someone so young. That brief smile from the violinist behind her sums it all up in a heartbeat". unquote
    • Now With Dual Subtitles!:

    A little background information:
    • Emma started singing at the age of 4 or 5, and has been singing in a local church choir ever since.
    • She won The Voice Kids in the Netherlands in 2021 at the age of 13.
    • Emma also plays the violin, just like her brother Enzo.
    • Due to her appearance on The Voice Kids, she is now an ambassador for Children's Research Fund Limburg / Health Foundation Limburg.
    • She was awarded a Maastricht award called the "Sjeng", given to her by Maastricht diva Beppie Kraft (daughter of Sjeng Kraft, after whom the award was named).
    • Emma sings mostly in Dutch, but also has covered a few songs in English.
    • Texts and music so far for Emma's songs (again: mostly in Dutch) is a collaboration between Emma herself and Tjeerd Oosterhuis (brother of Trijntje Oosterhuis, who together formed the group Total Touch in the 90s)
    • Earlier this year (2023), Emma started the Gastrostars Foundation, for research regarding gastroparese and similar conditions including intestinal research.
    @joostprins3381 quote:

"André Rieu was years ago driven by the wish that classic music wasn’t alone for the elite. He risked everything with the first concerts, he was looked down by the elite and loved by the people. His concerts with the amazing orchestra are going around the world. He will always start at Maastricht with his concerts. Every year he performs the classics but always has some special guests of all kind of music. This year, beside Emma, he had a few hundred ! Bagpipers marching on the square, and at the end he had an amazing gospel group. It’s a party, it’s magic and you only see happy people (well, sometimes they cry). And what’s important, it’s civilized".
    • Watch Emma Kok Singing When She Was 13 Years Old 2 Years aga:

Fun Fact 1: ... The speed of Emma Kok Version is about 20% slower than original speed of "Barbara Pravi - Voilà - LIVE - France 🇫🇷 - Grand Final - Eurovision 2021" ... I like this slowed down version much better Emma Kok Team nailed it!

Fun fact 2: When Emma Kok speaks in her local "native dialect" (Limburgs) her language is about 99% the same as where I was raised aprox 15 miles away from where she lives. When I was about 17 up to 19 years old, way back in the 1980s I visited her city many times meeting friends.
