For your info, the cut-off is generally 30 years of age. A female child under the age of 10 is considered (and often called) a 'little girl'. But 'girl' is common and considered correct for a female up to the age of 30, after which 'woman' is more correct. In formal situations however, like in writing, 'young woman' is more preferable to 'girl' when referring to females over the age of 18.

The term 'girl' maybe be sometimes used for women over the age of 30, but usually only between women themselves and in an informal context, example: 'We're city girls through and through', 'a girl's night out on the town'.
