Isn't that type of broom called a 'Besom'? We have the strong association with Witchcraft, with the Besom being associated with rustic Crones, their symbol of office! Flying on a broom (besom) using hallucinogenic mushrooms, sweeping away common reality. Surely the broom is one of humanity's earliest tools?

Violet 3, what do you think my having this broom means? good luck hopefully ?
    Hi Doug
well firstly - no coincidences, right? Though in the end only you can feel into the meaning that fits for you. Here is what I was thinking about it:
Good luck- maybe, but more a blessing and recognition. As they say, energy follows thought. You were engaging so thoughtfully, meditatively and appreciatively with your broom at home. And the universe is a magical place, everything is alive in some form- some would never consider the importance and craftiness in common domestic objects but you really entered the greatness of brooms and maybe you manifested (with help perhaps) a truly outstanding example of the very best craftmanship.
Also it is actually full moon today- a very good time to meditate, go OOB, astral travel, or dream with the powerful full moon. As Heart to Heart says, the universe is on the phone.
The witches/ spiritual teachers always meditate at this time as the energy is strongest. witches were commonly depicted in the old days riding broom sticks across the moon, probably for various reasons such as materialist thinking and public ridicule, but fly they did and do, and so might you.

Reading this thread reminded me of something I heard from a Spanish friend about Nuestra Señora de la Escoba (Our Lady of the Broom), seems to be a thing in the Roman Catholic faith....

Quote Our Lady of the Broom Fine Art Print, 11x17 (13x19 with white borders)

The image shows the Blessed Virgin as a compassionate mother; she sees the unseen, mundane tasks of daily life. The Queen of Heaven has done the same. She invites her children to follow her example and to participate with her in the redemptive work of her Son, especially through the little tasks of everyday life offered freely in deep love and devotion to Christ.
Quote Prayer to Our Lady of the Broom

Oh Mother of Jesus Christ The Savior, we Salute you, we Honor you, we revere you.

Never was it known that any of your children who came to you with tears and supplications, failed to get your attention. Here we come to you, Our Mother, with tears and supplications. Oh Mother with Immaculate Heart of purity, with your broom, sweep our souls, our hearts, our lives, our homes, our families, our jobs and our businesses, any impurity, either we imposed on ourselves or enemy imposed on us, that is depriving us from knowing you or your son better. Oh Lady Of The Broom, you are the only one who is pure enough to sweep away our impurities and prepare our souls for your Son. Please help, protect, defend, direct, and prepare us to build everlasting relationship with your son through you, with you, in you, by you, and for you, Amen

Violet3 THANKS. I feel good having the little broom in my house. I took it in. Be it the broom itself or the awareness of small things normally passed by, I feel spiritually awake and heightened.
    Happy.

pueblo Thanks for posting. I immediately thought of the big painting I did for Chris Bledsoes amazing story with the lady. No broom, but they relate.

I envy your new little broom, it is gorgeous. By the way it is called "besom".
I remember my Mother calling another lady a 'besom' when she was extremely annoyed with her. Not sure how it became an insult but it widely used in the north of England and in most of Scotland when I was a boy.

Webster's Dictionary has this to say about the originations of the word.

Quote Middle English beseme, from Old English besma; akin to Old High German besmo broom. (First know use predates the 12th century)
Fascinating little thread showing an abundance of synchronicities and dare I say, morphic resonance?

What does it all mean, Casey's dream was perhaps the most disturbing post.
It's getting close to the point where cleaning up is too late - broom going on fire?

you got me laughing, I never imagined it would be a word used to insult someone, interesting.

I agree Ewan we are getting to the point that soon won't be able to clean a s***.
