Well, he's not a very good military commander. But he's the guy who got the job when the only other contender was intelligence chief Budanov, skilled in covert operations but with zero experience of commanding even the smallest unit in battle.

The choice is significant, because if Budanov had replaced Zaluzhny, it'd have indicated that the plan from here on out was to scale the conventional operations right down and focus on covert insurgency (terrorism) instead. It means that the US is determined (somehow!) to continue the conventional war.

🇺🇸🇺🇦🇮🇱 US Senate votes to advance foreign aid package with assistance for Ukraine and Israel

The US Senate held a key vote on Thursday to advance a $95.3 billion foreign aid package that provides assistance for Israel and Ukraine after Republicans blocked a broader bill that included border security measures earlier this week.

The major foreign aid package now moves one step closer to a final passage vote, which could still be days away.

More on Syrsky from The Moon of Alabama.
Ukraine SitRep: A Hated New Commander - Critical Lack of Infantry

The Ukrainian President Zelenski has fired the commander in chief of the Ukrainian armed forces General Zaluzny.

Zaluzny was replaced by General Syrski, a somewhat unexpected choice as Syrski is hated by the troops for pushing them into meat grinders without a perspective of winning. Syrski, who was born as a Russian, had lost the cauldron battles of Debaltsevo (2015), Soledar (2023) and Bakhmut (2023). Currently Avdeevka is in a cauldron and likely to fall.

Rumors say that Syrski already ordered reserves to reinforce the troops in Avdeevka. Russian FAB bombs will welcome them.

The Economist describes Syrski as thus:
General Syrsky has a reputation for being willing to engage the enemy, even if the cost in men and machines is high. He is a divisive figure who provokes strong reactions from serving officers. Some praise his professionalism, others say he terrifies his subordinates and rules by fear. He is less likely to question the priorities of his president. As he takes on the top job, he will have to soften his style of command and learn to speak truth to power. The reorganisation will also cause disruption as officers shift to new positions in the chain of command. It is important that these changes do not degrade Ukraine’s capacity to fight. Before long, the country will need a new mobilisation even if General Syrsky uses his troops mostly for defence—as, for now, he should.
Simplicius discusses the most plausible reason why Zalauzny got fired and Syrski promoted:
Ask yourself, why would Zelensky appoint a commander that the entire armed forces allegedly hates? In fact, this is a ‘design feature’ not a bug.
Recall that the reason Zaluzhny was given the boot was he had become too powerful: he was too loved by the troops, and by the people. Why? One of the reasons is likely because he fought for the troops multiple times. In early 2023, documents were leaked showing that he nearly begged Zelensky to pull troops back from Bakhmut, but the narco-Fuhrer refused, wanting it as a symbolic city defense—perhaps taken with romantic delusions of Stalingrad.
During the grand summer ‘counteroffensive’, Zaluzhny pulled the brigades of the 10th Army Corps back and began to use them sparingly—much to the chagrin and disapproval of US sponsors—after the initial first few wipes devastated columns of Leopards and Bradleys along the infamous road of death near Rabotino and Mala Tokmachka.
Recently it was claimed Zaluzhny likewise attempted to get Avdeevka totally withdrawn. It does not seem that he likes to waste men for what he knows to be fruitless efforts. Syrsky on the other hand appears glad to grind them down.
So, has it become obvious yet? Zelensky needs a commander-in-chief he can control, someone not universally loved by the troops; someone who cannot use those troops at a time of opportunity to ‘march on Kiev’ and oust Zelensky from his citadel. Syrsky appears to fit the perfect prototypical role: undefiant, unpopular, uncharismatic, and most importantly, untempted by political ambitions—the ideal subserviant factotum to Zelensky’s regime.
There is no word yet what Zaluzny is going to do. He has the respect of the troops and good relations with the 'nationalists', i.e. the Nazi fringe militia of Ukraine. He also has the support of some politicians opposed to Zelenski.

A coup is thereby a possible outcome of this change.

Yesterday a Washington Post article, sources from interviews at the Ukrainian front, describes the utter shamble the Ukrainian forces are in:
In interviews across the front line in recent days, nearly a dozen soldiers and commanders told The Washington Post that personnel deficits were their most critical problem now, as Russia has regained the offensive initiative on the battlefield and is stepping up its attacks. One battalion commander in a mechanized brigade fighting in eastern Ukraine said that his unit currently has fewer than 40 infantry troops — the soldiers deployed in front-line trenches who hold off Russian assaults. A fully equipped battalion would have more than 200, the commander said.
Under normal circumstances a mechanized battalion is supposed to hold a 3 kilometer long frontline. With only 40 infantry soldiers available that becomes an impossible task. The further deterioration from that depleted state will be rapid.
Oleksandr, a battalion commander, said the companies in his unit on average are staffed at about 35 percent of what they should be. A second battalion commander from an assault brigade said that is typical for units that carry out combat tasks. Asked how many new soldiers he has received — not including those who have returned after injuries — Oleksandr said his battalion was sent five people over the past five months. He and other commanders said the new recruits tend to be poorly trained, creating a dilemma about whether to send someone immediately onto the battlefield because reinforcements are needed so badly, even though they are likely to get injured or killed because they lack the know-how.
“The basis of everything is the lack of people,” Oleksandr said.
“Where are we going? I don’t know,” he added. “There’s no positive outlook. Absolutely none. It’s going to end in a lot of death, a global failure. And most likely, I think, the front will collapse somewhere like it did for the enemy in 2022, in the Kharkiv region.”
The new Ukrainian mobilization law, which is supposed to refill the army with fresh bodies, is still creeping through the Ukrainian parliament. It will likely come into force only by April. The first new troops conscripted under it will take until July to be combat capable. One wonders is the current Ukrainian army can hold that long.

It seems like the world is experiencing two genocidal wars at the moment. One is designed to kill Palestinians (Moslems and Christians) and the other is focused on genociding Ukrainian men. Horrifying and sad.

❗️NATO to chair 'Ramstein' meetings on Ukraine

The German newspaper Handelsblatt reports that the US and NATO want to chair a 'contact group on Ukraine's defence' to coordinate military aid to Ukraine. Germany is opposed.

Jens Stoltenberg and Jake Sullivan, the US president's national security adviser, made the proposal.

"The Alliance's motto has always been that it does not want to go to war with Russia under any circumstances. But now the taboo has been broken. One reason: the fear of Donald Trump's return. NATO wants to coordinate the supply of military aid to Ukraine", - says in the material.

German journalists say that Berlin is sceptical about the proposal because it will "convince Russia that NATO is waging a war against it".

🇨🇦Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ignored the question of his office inviting Ukrainian Nazi Yaroslav Hunka (Hunka) to the country’s parliament.

And Russian President Vladimir Putin called the mention of this episode in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson an element of Russian propaganda.

📝 “Of course, he (Putin - ed.) will use any propaganda he can, but I can say that Canadians will not be fooled. Canada supports Ukraine not only because we are friends of Ukraine, but also because the rules-based order, the legal system and the UN Charter protect all of us, not just Ukrainians. We will support Ukraine as long as necessary,” said the Canadian Prime Minister.

In an interview with Carlson, Putin said that denazification, which is stated as one of the goals of the special military operation in Ukraine, means getting rid of people who promote the theory and practice of Nazism. As an example, he cited the appearance of the Nazi Hunka in the Canadian parliament during Zelensky’s visit. - Ostashko reports

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky sacked the country's army chief, General Zaluzhny amid growing friction between the two leaders. Zaluzhny, who has led Ukraine's army since 2019, helped successfully defend several of Kyiv's regions after Russia's invasion in 2022. However, he has been at odds with Zelensky, and had admitted that Ukraine's war has reached a stalemate in 2023. As Zelensky replaces Zaluzhny with ground forces commander Syrsky- can this change help revive Kyiv's campaign against Moscow? Palki Sharma explores....

“I think that the most important message in Putin's interview [to Tucker Carlson] is that Russia is ready for a political or diplomatic solution of the Ukraine conflict,” Russian international affairs observer Dmitry Suslov told Sputnik.

“But it requires a political will from the United States. Putin identified the concrete conditions on which Russia would be ready to end the conflict through diplomacy. And this is first, the recognition of the current territorial settlement. Putin bluntly said that it's up for NATO to look for and to find a form which could be, I mean, not humiliating for them, but accepts the current territorial settlement. Secondly, Istanbul communique [agreed in the spring of 2022, before the West forced Kiev to break off negotiations, ed.],” Suslov, the deputy director of the Center for European and International Studies at Russia’s Higher School of Economics, said.

“Thirdly, he identified in a very detailed way the condition of denazification and explained what it means, and also, mentioned that it was partly included into the Istanbul communique. So, I think that this is a very important message, that if the United States is ready for serious negotiation on the basis of these conditions, Russia would not hesitate to resume and to start those negotiations,” the observer noted.

Syrsky’s command will see more ‘meat assaults’ driven by fanatical loyalty to Zelensky

Newly picked Ukrainian Armed Forces commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrsky is “absolutely loyal to the current government. He is ready to continue the policy of ‘meat assaults’ and it is easier for him to do this, since his reputation allows for it,” Nikolai Kostikin, an expert from the Military-Political Analysis Bureau think tank, told Sputnik.

“Ukraine’s Armed Forces now have prospects for the continued mass slaughter of their personnel. And it is not Ukrainians who command Ukrainian troops. The policy of meat assaults will continue until the front collapses like dominos,” Kostikin said, adding that “so far, Syrsky has proven himself only as a ‘cauldron general’, responsible, in the minds of Ukrainian officers, for the defeat at Debaltsevo in 2015.”

Russian servicemen released from Ukrainian captivity arrive in Moscow

"All the released are provided with the necessary medical and psychological assistance," the Russian Defense Ministry pointed out

MOSCOW, February 9. /TASS/. Russian troops freed from Ukrainian captivity have been transported to Moscow for treatment and rehabilitation, the Russian Defense Ministry has informed.

"The released POWs were transported to Moscow by Russian Air Force military transport aircraft to undergo treatment and rehabilitation in Russian Defense Ministry medical facilities. All the released are provided with the necessary medical and psychological assistance," the ministry pointed out.

The department published a related video on its official Telegram channel. "I cannot believe it; we are so glad to be safe and sound. These are our first hours on our native land. We got a great welcome here, they gave us new clothes, it's nice that they were waiting for us," one of the Russian soldiers said in the video.

The Defense Ministry said on Thursday that 100 Russian servicemen had been released from Kiev-controlled territory and the same number of Ukrainian POWs had been sent in return. The authorities of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) provided humanitarian mediation assistance for the return of Russian servicemen from Ukrainian captivity, the ministry added.

The previous exchange was announced on January 31. Back then, following negotiations, 195 Russian servicemen were returned from Kiev-controlled territory and 195 Ukrainian armed forces soldiers were transferred to Ukraine in exchange.

It seems like the world is experiencing two genocidal wars at the moment. One is designed to kill Palestinians (Moslems and Christians) and the other is focused on genociding Ukrainian men. Horrifying and sad.

And in both conflicts the ¨chosen people¨ seem to be playing significant role.Like jewish gangster billionaire Ihor Kolomoyski who created and financed most of these Ukrainian neonazi militias like Dnepr,Tornado,Azov etc. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ihor_Kolomoyskyi If you havent heard about this guy then read up. Seems Zelenski is wiping out both him and his useful idiot nazis who have now become a threat to secure his throne.Supposedly the plane that prisoner plane that got shot down recently was full of Azov guys ?
While he was governor of Dnipropetrovsk he pretty much ethnicly cleansed the region from russians with his nazi militias and israeli mercenaries while creating many massgraves that most still havent heard of.
Zelenski got him locked up not so long ago on corruption charges and alot of his wealth got confiscated. Them chosen people are blinded by their own greed and keep going at each others throats to get more wealth and power...Like it happened when they created soviet union..

Persia kicked out the satanic talmudic jews who ended up in Khazaria and eventually took it over and became the ruling class.Russia destroyed Khazaria and khazarian jews escaped to ukraine/poland/lithuania.Khazar jews then destroyed russia with bolshevik revolution/soviet union. Most if not all Israeli prime ministers have been born in soviet union, none in israel.

¨Israel’s Secret Plan for a "Second Israel" in Ukraine¨ (Dec 12,2014)

The role of Jewish figures and that of the State of Israel in the Ukrainian crisis has not gone unnoticed considering that this community represents less than 1 percent of the population. However, a secret report in the hands of the Netanyahu administration confirms that Ashkenazi Jews do not originate from the Levant, but are the descendants of the Khazars. This little-known population founded a Jewish empire in the tenth century on the banks of the Black Sea. Therefore, some Zionists see in Ukraine a possible second Israel.

The Times of Israel, an independent Israeli newspaper that counts among its staff a number of former reporters for the Israeli daily Ha’aretz, published a fascinating but largely overlooked story datelined Jerusalem and Zhitomir, Ukraine, March 16, 2014, and which was written by its respective Russian and Ukrainian correspondents, Hirsh Ostropoler and I. Z. Grosser-Spass, citing a secret report provided to the Israeli government . The report, written by a select panel of scholars of Jewish history drawn from academia and other research centers, concluded that that European Jews are in fact descended from Khazars, a war-like Mongol-Tatar group that ruled over Ukraine and southern Russia, which mass-converted to Judaism in the eighth century AD.

Zionists have long argued that the land claimed by Israel was the biblical birthright of the Jewish people who were forced from the land in a so-called «diaspora» after repeated conquests by various empires. Proof that Ashkenazi Jews, which make up a majority of the Israeli Jewish population, have no historical link to Palestine would call into question the entire premise of Israel as the historical «5,000-year old» homeland of the Jewish people.

The Israeli journalists noted that any conversation of the Khazars and modern Israel has always been met with disdain by Israeli leaders. They quote Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir as once saying, «Khazar, Schmazar. There is no Khazar people. I knew no Khazars. In Kiev. Or Milwaukee. Show me these Khazars of whom you speak». DNA proof that a migratory Khazar population from Europe is now claiming ancient roots in Palestine largely eliminates Zionist claims to the region.
The evidence that eastern and central European Jews have no historical claim to Palestine has resulted in a flurry of activity in Israel and abroad. The Israeli Knesset will soon vote on a bill passed by the Israeli Cabinet that legalizes Israel as a Jewish «national state». Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who read the secret report on the Khazars, has declared that «Israel is the Jewish, nationalist state for the Jewish people». With the Ashkenazi claims to Israel tenuous, at best, Netanyahu, his Likud Party, and his Jewish Orthodox and West Bank settler party allies have no other choice but to aggressively stake their nationalist claims to not only Israel but also to the West Bank – which the nationalists refer to as «Judea and Samaria».
The Times of Israel’s explosive story about the Khazarian roots of the Ashkenazis also revealed that Israel, knowing that a Palestinian state is inevitable considering the increasing pressure for it from Europe, is preparing to resettle Ashkenazi settlers in the West Bank to Ukraine. Israel’s advanced research in genetics resulted in a direct DNA line being established between Israel’s Ashkenazis and the Khazars who were dispersed across eastern and central Europe after Russia conquered the Khazarian Empire in the 11th century.
Israelis and their Zionist allies around the world have always accused proponents of the Khazarian-Ashkenazi genetic connection of deep-rooted anti-Semitism. However, the genetic research contained in the secret Israeli report confirms what Israeli historian Shlomo Sand revealed in his book, «The Invention of the Jewish People». The concept of the Khazarian bloodline was first broached by Hungarian historian Arthur Koestler in his 1976 «The Thirteenth Tribe».

The Times of Israel reporters quoted an unnamed aide to Netanyahu who revealed the plans for Israeli emigration to Ukraine: «We first thought that admitting we are really Khazars was one way to get around [Palestinian President Mahmoud] Abbas’s insistence that no Jew can remain in a Palestinian state. Maybe we were grasping at straws. But when he refused to accept that, it forced us to think about more creative solutions. The Ukrainian invitation for the Jews to return was a godsend. Relocating all the settlers within Israel in a short time would be difficult for reasons of logistics and economics. We certainly don’t want another fashlan like the expulsion of the settlers in the Gaza Hitnatkut [disengagement]».

Ostropoler and Grosser-Spass also quoted an anonymous Israeli intelligence source as saying: «We’re not talking about all the Ashkenazi Jews going back to Ukraine. Obviously that is not practical. The press as usual exaggerates and sensationalizes; this is why we need military censorship».

Politico: Ukrainian soldiers call Syrsky “butcher and General 200”

    from Anti-Spiegel

    February 9, 2024 1:16 p.m

A Ukrainian soldier said in an interview with Politico that the appointment of the new commander-in-chief is unlikely to lead to positive results

The new commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces, Aleksander Syrsky, is extremely unpopular among the soldiers. They refer to him as “Butcher and General 200.” Politico reports this, citing Ukrainian soldiers.

“A very bad decision,” a Ukrainian commander commented on Syrsky’s appointment to Politico on condition of anonymity. His point of view was supported by another soldier who said that the appointment of the new commander-in-chief is unlikely to lead to positive results for Ukraine. According to Politico's interviewees, the military nicknamed Syrsky "Butcher" and "General 200" because of his tendency to risk the lives of his soldiers. ( Translator's note: In the Russian and Ukrainian armies, fallen soldiers are referred to as “200s”. A “Transport 200”, for example, is a transport of fallen soldiers )

Syrsky was unpopular with soldiers, Politico said, because he led Ukrainian forces in the Battle of Artyomovsk (Ukrainian name: Bakhmut), in which many Ukrainian soldiers were killed.

Rumors about the resignation of the former head of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valery Saluzhny appeared back on January 29, and since then the topic has not gone silent in the Ukrainian and Western media. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced Saluzhny's resignation and Syrsky's appointment on the evening of February 8, but the decrees were not published for a long time. Zelensky thanked Saluzhny for his work as commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and offered him to stay “in the team.” It is not known whether the general accepted this offer. At the same time, the Ukrainian head of state pointed out Ukraine's stagnation at the front. He expects Syrsky to present an action plan for the armed forces for 2024 and the presentation of the “reset team” in the coming days.

Syrsky was born in the Vladimir region in 1965 and graduated from the Moscow Combined Arms Higher School. Zelensky described him as “the most experienced Ukrainian commander.”

    How true Kryztian.

It has always been the case (the British young men about to be killed in WWI‘s trenches cheered on by hyperventilating suffragettes) but it used to be less visible.

Showing how it is has become a way of making us comprehend how automatically cruel our masters are.

Let us die all. We do not deserve to survive those whom we allow to be “ground”.
