As the New York Times writes, this will be the first such enterprise that the Pentagon is building from scratch since the start of the war in Ukraine.

The Mexit plant will produce 30,000 artillery shells per month, roughly double current U.S. production.

However, as the newspaper points out, Ukraine fired from 4,000 to 7,000 such shells per day alone when it went on the offensive last summer (the publication refers to data from the NATO Secretary General).

That is, with more or less intensive work of the Ukrainian artillery, the monthly production of the new plant will be enough for the Armed Forces of Ukraine for less than a week.
