US authorities have agreed to drop their demand for Julian Assange to be extradited from the UK after reaching a plea deal with the WikiLeaks founder. In return for pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to obtain and disclose national defence information, Assange will be sentenced to time served, 62 months - the time he has already spent in a British prison.

What? Almost $600,000 cost for a one-way charter flight that Assange is forced to take for the plea deal gimmick? I don't know what a charter flight halfway across the planet normally costs, but it can't be that much. Perhaps some of you know?

It is so encouraging to hear that Assange is free. I fully expected that he would die in prison, which would have been so heartbreaking.
And I expected to see him emaciated and barely able to move, but he's in surprising good form considering his long ordeal.
Hopefully anymore over the top expenses will be paid for by his supporters, so he can finish out his days in relative peace and ease.

A very interesting discussion with Yanis V who said that Julian Assange had received 3 offers in all, the first of which was a full pardon from the Trump Aministration while he was in the Ecuador Embassy, in return for revealing the sources of the Clinton emails, which he refused to do.

The 2nd offer was about 8-9 months ago which involved him being flown to Virginia and sentenced to 5 years and then released to go back to Australia. Again he refused.

You will note that Varoufakis is clearly unhappy with the "settlement".

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange arrived at the courthouse on the US-owned island of Saipan, where he is expected to partially plead guilty and be released.

"Julian Assange has arrived on US territory at Saipan Island to formalize the plea deal that should never have had to happen," the organization wrote on its X social media account.

Assange's hearing will be held Wednesday on Saipan, the largest island in the Northern Mariana Islands, an unincorporated Pacific territory administered by Washington.

re the 'first offer'..... from the Trump Administration - it's a bloody shame the proviso of specifically revealing the source of the Clinton Emails was included - because Julian all but spelled out the actual name - by inference - due to the policy of Wikileaks never revealing it's sources... poor Seth Rich - 'they' got rid of him so the Russia Russia Russia psyop against Trump could be played out - -
