I am continuing to enhance our Avalon Library.

Notice the "Mod-edit" that I just added to Post #20, above. That Mod-edit has a link to http://avalonlibrary.net/Bill/Collection_of_193_EBooks/, with an enhanced presentation of the 193 EBooks in one of the archives that Bill uploaded last year. You now have the option to pick and choose just which of the 193 files in that archive you want to download.

Almost a year ago, Bill started the Avalon Library using a WeTransfer account, funded by the generous donations of a number of forum members. As documented in the early posts of this thread, he began sharing some of the many interesting and important ebooks and media files that he had accumulated in his travels.

Since then, further contributions of material and funding have come in, and Bill and I have put in quite a bit of work, upgrading the library, moving it to its own web server (AvalonLibrary.net) and expanding the collection of material available.

I am pleased to announce that we have completed the latest round of improvements to the Avalon Library.
    • It now has an improved look and feel (nothing fancy yet, but better).
    • It now has over 11,000 ebooks and audio and video files.
We invite you to take look. Come on over to the AvalonLibrary.net.
Happy Birthday, Bill. One of your dreams is a step closer to being all that it might become.

Yes, this is a pretty neat resource now. Paul's worked pretty hard at this for quite a number of weeks. Kudos.

There are various nuggets sprinkled around, but the main mother lode is the ebooks section:
There's a LOT of stuff there, including some rare items which are hard or impossible to find elsewhere. Until Paul adds a good advanced search utility in there, which is on his list, the best way to find things is simply to use the search function in your browser page.

Because this is a closed thread (for announcements only), all discussion, comments, feedback and suggestions are most welcome here:
    Enjoy.

I have just moved the Avalon Library from my Linode.com server to the same Singlehop server that ProjectAvalon.net runs on. Thanks to the increased disk space made available by last years server upgrade, we can now fit both on the Avalon server, thus saving a little money for the use of the separate Linode server.

Holler if I broke something, such as some image or pdf file with an avalonlibrary.net URL isn't loading correctly.

I just now had to take AvalonLibrary.net offline, for the rest of this month, October 2018, as it was using up too much of our monthly bandwidth allotment.

I expect to reopen the Avalon Library in November 2018, with some means of limiting the amount that any given IP can download, or some other such throttle.
The Avalon Library is now re-open for business.

Thanks to the shutdown of the library, we got through the month of October 2018 without exceeding our monthly bandwidth allotment from Singlehop, and now we have a fresh monthly allotment to work on.

I have in place tools to monitor usage more tightly, so that I can (hopefully) block those IP's downloading too much, too fast, while allowing all ordinary usage to continue as before. Up until October 2018 (the month just ended) we never used too much, so any ordinary usage, as before, is fine.

The ebooks section of the Avalon Library has been reinstated.
Quite a few books have been removed due to copyright considerations, and we've amended the header to read as follows:

I'd like to thank everyone in the Library team — specifically Bluegreen, who deserves some kind of a medal — who worked so very hard on filtering and categorizing. And Tintin, too, who's also worked tirelessly on all this for months, and has been continually adding new archive material (a LOT of it!!) to the main Library section. Peter UK has also been steadily supplying new material for him to add, so it's been quite a team effort going on behind the scenes.

Ugh. I'm afraid we've had to take the ebooks section of the library offline again. It had directly caused a sequence of heavy server overloads that was only relieved when we guessed correctly the ebooks were the problem, and took them down again.

Here's my post on the Record of Server Outages thread:

Quote Posted by Bill Ryan (here)
Quote Posted by Bill Ryan (here)
The Avalon server has been down for quite a few minutes, several times, in the last half hour. Nothing we can do, I'm afraid... the server is simply overwhelmed with requests.

I don't think it's an attack: there's just a lot going on right now (including the re-opening of the ebook library), and Avalon is getting a lot of attention.
An update: we removed the ebooks section again, as a test — and the problem disappeared. We watched the server load numbers fall by the minute right back to normal.

So we're going to have to keep the ebooks offline until we figure out how to solve the problem without compromising the forum access. Our apologies to everyone for that — and also for the outages in the last 45 minutes or so. But it does seem resolved now.

A complete archive of all the Missing Persons shows David Paulides has done on Coast to Coast AM since 2012. Some are whole shows (a continuous audio), others are split into the separate hours. At the foot of the list is also a most excellent video presentation Paulides did for MUFON. Important (and baffling, disturbing), material, discussed in this thread:

    LIBRARIAN UPDATE:
David Paulides' work had been moved to a devoted directory from the main library landing page in October 2019 and is accessible through this link: https://avalonlibrary.net/?dir=David...0to%20Coast%29 - the link in Bill's post (above) has been fixed so that too will work (TQ)

742 pages of recently released FBI files on Hitler's flight to Argentina in 1945, in 4 PDFs. The files are all viewable here, but are a little tricky to download from the FBI's site. Discussed on this thread: FBI quietly opens files on Hitler fleeing to Argentina
    LIBRARIAN UPDATE:
the FBI files on Hitler in Argentina have had a specific library directory since October 2019; the link in Bill's post above has been fixed. Along with the .ZIP here are the 4 PDFs unpacked (TQ)

Hundreds of high quality photos of ancient artifacts from Ecuador, a number of them featured in my 2010 video Klaus Dona: The Hidden History of the Human Race. (Uploaded for a researcher in China who asked to include some of them in a book, now also shared here.)
Librarian update from Tintin: Bill's interview with Klaus from March 2010 is also in our library as an .MP4 and can be watched and downloaded from here: https://avalonlibrary.net/Klaus_Dona...%282010%29.mp4. The photos and film have their own directory (since 2019) (TQ)
