Default Have you gone solar yet?

I'm just putting together a 24 volt solar system. The system will include four 100 watt solar panels at the start and two lithium batteries. I will be using a 2000 watt inverter to power things. Not sure how well it will work in winter yet but with the heat wave of two weeks plus reaching over a 100 degrees it will help power my battery operated air conditioner. Oregon had some brown outs during the heat wave so how nice to be able to stay cool...

is the electric car craze contributing to brown outs? are we not straining the grid?

While solar may seem ideal, it still requires maintaining, has a horrible effect on the environment,( have you seen those lithium mines!?).. and you need lots of sun… they’re no better than wind turbines. And they’re becoming so promoted that everything we do now, is suggested to use batteries, and most use rechargeable flashlights because we know how short lived batteries really are. One can’t help but recognize that batteries die quickly and get worse over time. It’s a red herring in my opinion, and just like electric vehicles, will probably have a worse effect on the planet than gas coal and oil all together. In The long run, as batteries begin to need to be replaced? We’re going to have a toxic mess on our hands. What we need to do is move to free energy. And stop behaving as if it doesn’t exist… Because t hecause “ batteries are allowed”, that is the next gold mine crop… sad really, it I hope it helps you.

Hi all, I have all the components to start but wonder if anyone on the forum has experience or knowledge with solar power systems? Thank you...

    Hi Mojo,
Here is a youtube video by my niece and her husband, who have embarked on their "living off the grid" journey for a couple of years now.
I am sure you could reach out to them with questions, and maybe enjoy watching along on their channel as they continue learning. Or you could PM me with any questions and I will email them.
