An important announcement following the closure of the WORM TONGUE thread

Hello all,

After 2.5 years of service to this Forum I am stepping down as a Moderator, as of today. I have lost my passion for continuing under the guidance of Bill, our founder.

However, I wish to state very clearly:

Bill Ryan is a good Man, a tireless Man, and an intelligent Man, who has brought many of us together. He has a clear view of his perceptions, but sadly I no longer have the confidence with some of his decisions in regards to the handling of Avalon, and what has happened with Richard is only a small part of that.

It is best for all that I step down and allow room for new energy to assist the Team in moving Avalon forward.

I wish to sincerely thank all who I have connected with and to the Forum in general over the past years. It has been an honour and a pleasure for me, in doing my part, with assisting Bill and the Team and all the members of Avalon.

I thank all of the Moderators and Admins personally, for many hours of hard work and commitment.

This decision is a sad one for me, but a new Team will emerge, taking Avalon forward into the unknown.

On a brighter note…I will still be a member here.

I have now read this thread in its entirety, and the Worm Tongue thread. After all of that, there is only one thing that I can say for certain.

I do not know the whole story, nor am I likely to, and I don't want to.

Richard crossed the line and Bill was right. Richard was "in uniform" when he had his outburst, and that is unacceptable.

If Richard were a police officer and beat a citizen for insulting his wife would that be acceptable? NO

Like it or not, Richard should have been held to a higher standard, and he was.

you know, I think this 'refreshing' is a good thing. too bad it took an embarrassing meltdown to achieve it.
frankly, some of the past mods were very selective on what they chose to monitor.
I've been a member from nearly the beginning and have been called lots of names
for not tolling the collective line, plus plenty of threads highjacked by naysayers,
all without mod interaction or guidance.
change is this case is good.
onward to project avalon 2.0, refreshed and recommitted.

I've seen more than one vague and haunting allusion to fame since I've been here, and Bill, I'd love for you shine some light on this from your perspective. I'm sure its something you've had to struggle down to a reasonable package to carry along with you, so to speak.

It has always been my experience of you to be as one who moves through the world with an understanding of how such things work, their usefulness, weight and their far-reaching effects.

Maybe now's a good time to broach the subject? Would you share with us the burden/expectation/motivation/opportunity that the role of fame has in your journey?


On review, I do realize its quite a personal thing I am asking you publicly. I'm still asking. I'm hoping we've reached a teachable moment.

Absolutely gosh darned right. That dang thing is a force to be reckoned with. Literally a battle to spite one's own face. After all, it controls/filters all avatar awareness and data I/O function.

Once seen for what it is ...the trail of havoc it has wreaked in the given life ...is near unbelievable.

I'm glad I don't have to be right anymore.

There seems to of been a breach of trust and secrecy issues on the forum and behind the scenes.
Until these issues are dealt with these problems will continue.

I personally don't want to see one more member or Mod, Admin leave.
I think it's past time to put it all on the table.

What you must understand is that Bill made the only decision he could, under the circumstances.

I absolutely agree. Bill played the hand he was dealt pretty much the only way he could. He also left the door open for other parties concerned to take actions which might change the game we were playing. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened and doesn't look like it's going to.

I don't want to be a moderator (as much fun as that can be)... as I could not have the kind of fun I like to have.
