In my last Time evolution (hypothesis) Time itself , referring to the Galaxy Time which is giant expansion time wave to liken it to something containing in itself, the life Time of individual Stars , planets etc. and about most of both manifested and unmanifested Universe ( aka dark matter Universe)
Time moves (paces ahead) almost rhythmically,
moving step ahead and two steps back , in short sequence.

Hence we also experience self reflection, memory of past, large historical perspective and natural tendency to rest and retire but we can only see clear glimpse of true Future.

In order to "move to True Future" in evolution terms we then need to produce radical amount of effort.

In human terms: just "going with the flow" results in natural, long term intelligence decline

Of course there is no use of mere statements. There still exists remedial passage , an option for better future that would include factors like supported parenthood so that today's parents could spend worthy , individual time with their children,
    humanisation of education systems:

that would allow time and attention from teacher to individual student,

governments who actually listen and have the time to listen to individual problems and help those who are in dire need

    instead..

sending people to church, rallies or costly private care most can not afford.

If the remedial path is not taken there's looming danger of turning us all to mere numbers, social animals and colonial ants in cars.

Besides that we have learned of the importance of web, web of Life from Spiders

There were times when giant insects inhabited this planet . Check important fossil evidence

Wish we could learn to live from flower nectars

According to some Buddhist prophecies ( vis Maitreya Sutra ) we are in period of human decline that will continue for next few thousand years (slow descent) untill humans become only about 4 inches tall and very short lived.

After the birth of next Buddha Maitreya who will be times taller than everyone else (at least 40 inches tall) the curse of genetic decline will be repelled and new human evolution era begins .

Maybe just a story though .

maybe off topic but I could not help myself

I love this , Jim. If ants had size on their side I have no doubt who would come out the winners. They may be here long after we are anyway, there is something to be said for determination and pure pursuit of instinct without a bunch of silly distractions!!!!

"but we certainly seem to lack the aspect of a hive mind that makes one fearless in pursuing the common goal."

We're forced to be sort of fearless in chasing money, just to survive though. That may be too loose an analogy. I don't know. Most of us are fearless when it comes to protecting our children and pets too.

On the other hand, we don't lay down actual pheremone trails, and that's a good thing--otherwise this can happen. I can't think of an analogy here, other than being trapped in an information vortex.

Wow!!!! This is both terrifying and can definitely be compared to the human "march" we seem to be on. Even willing, not everyone, but many, to sacrifice our own children to the mindless propaganda of mechanization's that only goal seems to be to strip us of everything, our health, our wealth, our mental and spiritual capacities, everything. What do we get in return, a shallow promise of some sort of safety and knowing we are in compliance with governance that is clearly psychopathic, insane and cares nothing about any of us. A governance that allows us to take our hard earned money and support senseless genocide with it. A world that demands we live at a level of cognitive dissonance that at least to me feels quite unbearable at times.

What will it take for the masses to see "the emperor has no friggin clothes"? Not only that but the emperor is butt ugly, weak and insane? It is time to wakey, wakey and step out of the death march. Not easy or comfortable. The march is hypnotic and easy, in fact, it can seem almost impossible to pull away from. The weird thing is, in my personal experience is that to pull out of one death march there is another one waiting and ready to be stepped into. Not only is our reality an inversion but it is fractal in nature. There is always more unless we can create an emphatic "NO"

I am developing more and more empathy and understanding from our little insect friends then I would ever dream.

Thanks everyone for a most interesting discussion.

    Pam

In my video at the beginning of the thread, I discuss the movie Starship Troopers which pits humanity against an alien insect society and
poignantly shows us we are not so different. The writer of the book the film was based on was Robert A. Heinlein who explored the idea that humans might be becoming more insect-like, both within and outside his science fiction works. One of the most notable places where he discussed this concept in non-fiction is in his 1959 lecture titled "The Pragmatics of Patriotism." In this speech, Heinlein touched on the idea that human societies might evolve in ways that increasingly resemble insect colonies, particularly with regard to social organization, conformity, and the subordination of individual needs to the collective.

Heinlein’s fascination with this concept is also evident in his later interviews and essays. He expressed concerns about the potential for human societies to become too regimented, bureaucratic, and dehumanized—qualities that he saw as resembling insect colonies. This theme is a recurring one in his speculative fiction, such as in Starship Troopers and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, where he explores the tension between individualism and collectivism.

"Grok," the name of X AI's chatbot, is derived from a word that Robert A. Heinlein coined. The term "grok" first appeared in Heinlein's 1961 science fiction novel Stranger in a Strange Land.

    Meaning of "Grok":
In the novel, "grok" comes from the Martian language and is a complex term that means much more than just understanding something. To "grok" something means to comprehend it fully and deeply, to the point of becoming one with it. It implies an almost instinctive, holistic understanding that transcends mere intellectual grasp.

The word has since entered popular culture, especially among tech enthusiasts and programmers, where it often signifies an intuitive or deep understanding of a concept.

    Connection to X AI:
Elon Musk's AI company, named its chatbot "Grok" likely to emphasize the chatbot's capability for deep learning and understanding, drawing on the rich connotations of the term coined by Heinlein. The name suggests that the AI aims to comprehend and interact with users in a way that goes beyond surface-level responses, aligning with the meaning of "grok" as a profound and complete understanding.

I just finished Heinlein's Expanded Universe, which completes my reading of his written works, as well as his 1200 page authorized biography.

Started reading Heinlein's juveniles in 3rd grade when found in my grammar school library, 60 years ago. After retiring I caught up on his later works which I had not found time for previously.

His early books were what got me interested in reading (and especially science fiction and speculative fiction), and his ideas and storytelling always entertained me.

Recommend The Moon is a Harsh Mistress and of course Stranger in a Strange Land (original uncut version), both of which I reread in last couple of years, for anyone looking to check him out.

Really wish these 2 would get made into high-quality movies....

I first read Stranger in high school, staying up all night to finish rather than studying or resting for next day final exams, showing where my priorities were at the time.

If you really want to go deep into his later work, look up the best order to read them as numerous books and stories have interrelated characters and stories.

Recently watched this time-travel movie made from a short-story of his:

Predestination is a 2014 Australian science fiction action-thriller film[4] written and directed by Michael and Peter Spierig. The film stars Ethan Hawke, Sarah Snook, and Noah Taylor, and is based on the 1959 short story " '—All You Zombies—'" by Robert A. Heinlein.
saw this today - from my favorite Heinlein book

I don't believe anything, but I have many suspicions. - Robert Anton Wilson

The present as you think of it, and in practical working terms, is that point at which you select your physical experience from all those events that could be materialized. - Seth (The Nature of Personal Reality - Session 656, Page 293)

Profound quote from P. D. Ouspensky who was a student of Gurdjieff’s most respected for his incredible book 'In Search of the Miraculous'

" Intelligence " is not only useless in a beehive or an ant-hill, it would even be dangerous and harmful. Intelligence could not hand down all the laws, rules and methods of work with the same exactness from generation to generation. Intelligence could forget, could distort, could add something new. Intelligence could again lead to " mysticism ", to the idea of a higher intelligence, to the idea of esotericism. It was therefore necessary to banish intelligence from an ideal socialistic beehive or ant-hill, as an element harmful to the community—which in fact it is.
“One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The latter procedure, however, is disagreeable and therefore not popular.” (Carl Jung)
