The light on the sea
Shines brightly in the darkness
Before morning light

Sister spirit wafts by
leaving trails of delight
in her wake.

In Bath yesterday
Everything was lovely but
Too damn expensive

UV off the scale.
Our friend, the sun, is changing.
... Will he betray us??

A few hours rain
In 53 days. The frogs
Sang loudly that night

But are now silent.
The lakes and rivers are dry.
Wild fires are burning.

Frightened creatures hide
In their burrows, but cannot
Escape. Little birds

In their nests are too
Young to fly away. This is
Nature’s Great Cycle.

A little mouse lay
Dead on my trail. He ached with
Thirst. One dewdrop would

Have sustained him. But
There were none. He closed his eyes
To lie in the dust

And then his heart stopped.
I told his tiny spirit
I mourned his passing.

I gently laid him
In the long grass by the trail,
A soft resting place.

But Mother Nature
Will never intend to hurt.
It is all God’s Will.

We were always safe.

Both happily lost,
Marveling at nature’s grace,
Eventually back

Home to celebrate
With warmth, food and drink. It was
A beautiful day.
