    Default Dr. Jack Kruse: Blue-blocking glasses, and much much else

    Dear Friends, there have been several recent posts about Dr. Jack Kruse, and a very kind, longstanding Avalon follower has sent me this new video which I felt needed its own thread, as does Dr. Kruse himself. Here's her message to me about the video:

    ~~~
    Dr Jack Kruse's revelation on Adrian D'Amico website, an Australian podcaster. His revelation includes the British Royals, the Vatican, the Rothschilds, the Bushes, the Military Industrial Complex, the Secret Government and its founder, the Italian and Jewish Mafia, Stalin, Trotsky, Roosevelt, Churchill, Hitler, Eisenhower, JFK, the Dulles, SV40 (Simian Virus 40), cryptology, El Salvador and ... finally, Bitcoin.
    I think he has RFK Jr's and Trump's ears.
    Please share this with the truth seekers of Project Avalon.
    Thank you, Avalon Follower.
    I've watched a number of Dr. Jack Kruse vids. I'm particularly interested in the block blue light info and invested in quality glasses for blue blocking day and also blue blocking night. I'm a couple of weeks into balancing out my circadian cycle (day and night wake and sleep patterns).
    Some of the other Dr. Kruse videos I've listened to are: 5G & Blue Light, Circadian Biology, Melanin & How To Heal Your Mitochondria, Anti-Aging, and Light, Water & Magnetism.
    While I'm here, I'll add the summary to your video.
    Default Re: Dr. Jack Kruse: Blue-blocking glasses, and much much else
    I had a pair of blue blocking glasses from Amazon which included a blue block test kit to prove they block the blue light. It wasn’t until my new glasses arrived that I discovered how true this statement is: “You get what you pay for. I had the new 100% blue blocking glasses on and couldn’t see the time on the digital clock because the numbers were blue. The same for the blue light that blinks on the vacuum cleaner. I also compared the cheap glasses to the new DayMax Glasses (eliminating 100% of the harmful blue light). There was a distinct difference between them as well.
    Merged reposts: (apologies ahead of time for repeats):
    I researched the topic of blue light blocking. Dr. Jack Kruse is the go to guy on the effect of blue light, AND a lot more also found @ Dr.Jack Kruse: Reversing Disease.
    Dr. Jack Kruse Is a respected neurosurgeon, CEO of the Longevity Center, author and inventor, looking at the quantum level to explain how nature works in biology. He’s a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the Age Management Medicine Group, and a board certified physician by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
    It's because of the blue light blocking research, I spend the first 15-30 minutes soaking in the rising sun rays. Later in the day, I walk to soak up the sun effects even on cloudy days. Note: soaking up the rays doesn’t work if the window or door is closed. Sunrise and sunset are potent times and Dr. Jack Kruse says you only need 1-3 minutes.
    A few more examples are I've switched out incandescent bulbs for amber incandescent bulbs. They don’t have the blue-green spectrum. The same for my book light for bedtime reading. There’s a twilight motion red night light in the bathroom which is '100% blue and green light free, has zero flicker, and is low EMF', so it doesn't interfere with the natural sleep patterns.
    To quote Dr. Jack Kruse: More light, More life.
    My 100% blue light blocking glasses are for when it's time to wind down a few hours before bedtime and I’m still on the computer. (I’m slowly working to change that.) As mentioned elsewhere, I switched to amber incandescent lights because there’s no blue or green light to disrupt the circadian rhythm. My main goal is restful sleep. Amber light helps signal (prepare) the body for deep sleep.
    At night, Dr. Jack Kruse uses candles and lights a fire in the fire place because there 100% natural sources.
    Dr. Jack Kruse: “…when you understand it from that framework, you begin to see, there's no single most important thing. Actually light from the sun is important as darkness at night time is. And if you make a mistake in either side, then it becomes unbalanced. For want of a better term, the circadian mechanism is no longer yoked, and that allows destruction to come to cells in terms of how cells organize.”
    Blockbluelight.com offers glasses that are non-prescription, prescription and readers. BlockBlueLight purchases can be returned for an exchange, store credit, or refund within 30 days of your order delivery. (Maybe not prescription glasses. Please check policy.)
    How Blue Light Is Wreaking Havoc on Your Sleep,
    Making You Fat, & Destroying Your Health
    Less than 150 years ago, humans were exposed to no artificial light. Moonlight, dim candlelight and the orange light of fire was all that illuminated the night. The rising and setting of the sun were clear indicators to our brain when the day's activity began and ended.
    When the electric light bulb was invented, it opened up a whole new world. Artificial light allowed education, productivity and industry to grow rapidly. But could our pursuit of the endless day have a dark side?
    The truth is our ever-increasing exposure to light from screens, bright office lighting, home lighting and street lights could be the most overlooked health risk of our modern lives. It’s having a devastating impact on our health, and we don’t realize it.
    Dr. Jack Kruse on Junk Light, 5G, Optimizing Sunlight and Longevity
    Dr. Jack Kruse is with me today and he is a respected neurosurgeon and a CEO of the Kruse Longevity Center, which is a health and wellness company dedicated to helping patients avoid the healthcare burdens we typically encounter as we age. He is highly, highly researched and today we have a specific focus on light, EMFs and 5G, and on optimizing sunlight. He talks about why lack of sunlight is actually more dangerous than smoking, and why our kids need more sun, and how to do it safely. We talk about light, and how screens, and junk light affects our body at a mitochondrial level and how we can begin to improve this, and why he considers this actually the top factor for health, above diet, above exercise.
    Episode Highlights With Dr. Kruse:
    • What junk light is and why it can be so harmful
    • Why sunlight is so important and not dangerous… and why it is so important for kids
    • The problems with screens that you probably didn’t know of
    • Understanding light functionally
    • Why light is a medicine
      ....
    • Six meta analysis show that lack of sunlight is more dangerous to your health than smoking
    • The deeper problems with blue light beyond just sleep disturbances
    • How blue light cases break down in the retina and brain changes and destroys dopamine
    • Why he recommends avoiding melatonin supplementation in kids
    • Where melatonin is actually made (in the mitochondria) and how to optimize it
      ....
    • The reasons he recommends avoiding sunscreen and increasing sunlight exposure, especially in kids
    • Low Vitamin D levels correlate highly with melanoma and the sun helps increase Vitamin D levels… so why lack of sunlight is more correlated to melanoma than sun exposure and how blue light comes into play
    • Why sunglasses decrease melanin production in the skin and why he says to avoid them because you’ll be more sensitive to the sun
    • Ways to optimize your light exposure
    • Light exposure tips: open windows inside so it isn’t filtered through glass
      ....
    • More reasons to get morning sunlight
    • A reason kids don’t need as much sunlight as their grandparents do
    • How to do grounding correctly
    • His water recommendations for optimizing this for our kids
    • How screens are dehydrating, especially to kids
      ....
    • The food and light connection and what to know about water
    • His top tips for longevity
    • Mitochondrial DNA is only inherited through the mom
    • What transgenerational epigenetics is and why we need to understand it as parents
    • The real deal on Vitamin D (a neurosteroid he says not to supplement) and Omega-3
    I only came across Jack Kruse in the last month or so when his DARPA video emerged. I wondered why he has suddenly emerged. Where was he during COVID. I certainly cant recall anything from him Now he seems to be the meme of the month
    That being said I am sitting here with my blue light blocking glasses And each morning for the last week I have walked to a nearby park to watch the sunrise, which is amazingly energising and stays with me through out the day. I now spend at least 6 hours outside each day Dont know how I go when the summer heat hits 40C in a few months
    Dr. Jack Kruse’s recommendation for how much sunlight is as much as you possibly can. He states in the video called (IIRC), “Everything You Must Know About 5G and Blue Light” that when he’s at work he tries to get out even if its for 2-3 minutes or he opens the window. You need to see the sun and not behind glass windows because it filters out the light. It blocks all the UV and 40%-50% of the UVA. Just being inside makes you blue light toxic because glass has no effect on the blue light from the sun. He says it’s one of the major problems, i.e. just being inside is what technology has done for us because the computer screens don’t work outside.
    As stated elsewhere, I don’t wear glasses when I’m out walking nor use sunscreen. I take in the natural light spectrum. One example from Dr. Jack is wear blue light blocking glasses in stores where there’s florescence lighting.
    Dr. Jack Kruse has been around for a while. My guess is people don’t have the time to listen to a 2-4 hour video. I’ll add another below which is from April, 2015.
    His banned TED talk was in 2012 where he tells how he lost 150 lbs in a year (IIRC). His son and nephew also followed his protocol and lost weight.
    Dr. Kruse's presentation stirred controversy, not only due to its pioneering concepts but also because of the substantial financial interests tied to leptin as a potential anti-obesity drug. He challenged the conventional wisdom depths of metabolic understanding and the transformative power of light on our well-being.
    (article)
    Biohacking is the practice of employing methods drawn from fields like biology, genetics, neuroscience and nutrition to enhance physical or mental performance, improve overall health and well-being, or achieve a specific health outcome (like weight loss).
    Examples of Biohacking:
    • Age biohacking
    • Energy Biohacking
    • Diet and Nutrition Biohacking
    • Physical Health Biohacking
    You're welcome, Maggie.
    Yes, that's my guess. I've downloaded the Humberman podcasts, but haven't listened as yet. It takes me a while for each vid because I make notes and some of them I create audio snippets for review.
    My guess is I've listened to 15-20 so far. I'm reaching my saturation point. The main reason was for the blue light blocking, anti-aging, mitochondrial knowledge and circadian rhythm regulation.
    Dr Jack Kruse On Biohacking Your Water, EMFs, Blue Light, DHA, Cold, Sun and Sleep (2:08:00)
    April 12, 2015
    Dr. Kruse's order of importance:
    • Circadian Rhythm
    • DHA
    • Limiting blue light
    • Water (spring water)
    • Sleep
    • Cold
    • Psychological stress
    • Exercise
    Takeaways from video:
    • We see and will continue to see a trend of disease explosion - especially of the brain, immune system and heart.
    • The paleo and ancestral people - Chris Kresser, Rob Wolf, Matt Lalonde and Jimmy Moore don't focus on the important things.
    • We get too much blue light.
    • We need more DHA if we get less sun.
      .....
    • We need more DHA and 'good' water if we're exposed to EMFs.
    • Living in a city dehydrates us and therefore we need to drink more good water.
    • I discuss my water biohack - distilled water+infrared light+hydrogen+cold....Jack says that putting the water on a copper pot on the magnetico is a good addition.
    • Farmed fish is better than no fish. Supplemental DHA is better no DHA, as long as it's from a reliable company and not exposed to light or heat.
    • We should try to get much of our DHA from raw seafood, especially oysters.
    • DHA increase our DC electric current, which is critical to being awake.
      .....
    • We need more iodine in the form of seaweeds if we have more EMF exposure.
    • If people don't do well with saturated fats, it's because of environmental exposure to EMFs and the environment in general.
    • Obese and really thin people have an energy problem and electron loss. The obese people have it from neck down and the anorexics have it from neck up.
    Dont know how I go when the summer heat hits 40C in a few months
    I imagine at sunrise it’s relatively cooler. That's how I get around the heat and humidity in the summer when I walk. We’re coming into winter in New England (east coast US). The average low is 15 F (-9 C) with an average of 45 inches (114 cm) of snow. Sunrise comes up through my kitchen door. It’s already chilly at 35-40 F (-1-to 4C).
    …soaking up the rays doesn’t work if the window or door is closed.
    Finger’s crossed my make shift solution will keep me on track. I watch the sun come up and soak in the morning rays for about 15-30 minutes. I imagine that time will shorten through the winter. What I do is sit by the storm door which is made up of two sliding windows. I slide up the bottom half and use a spring-loaded curtain rod with a double-folded, thermal curtain (block out curtain). That leaves a foot (30 cm) of space for the rays to come in.
    It bears repeating that Dr. Jack says sunrise and sunset are potent times, and you only need 1-3 minutes. I’ll catch as much sun as possible later in the day even if it’s cloudy.
    Jack Kruse is sharing biology science I have never known. He is very interesting to hear. My favorite take awa is that at one time, mammals brought melanic cells IN and we emit light. One thing about listening to many different people, different people who are very intelligent, sometimes they are wildly divergent.
    A snippet from a Dr. Jack Kruse video. I omitted some of the nonessential parts.
    Interviewer: Can we talk a little bit about the spectrum of light and the various different intensities and frequencies that were getting from the sun throughout the day? Because a part of the narrative that the sun is dangerous. There's a certain times of the day that it's the most dangerous.
    Dr. Jack Kruse: It’s not dangerous. Times of the day? Everybody needs to hear, “The more sun you get, the more life you get. The more time you get, the less disease you get. The less times you need doctors.
    That's the real story and that's all you need to know. And if you want to break it down to frequency? Then you're going to have to step into my world and talk about a lot of science. But honestly? It's not just about frequency.
    There's an electric part and a magnetic part. That's why it's called an electromagnetic wave. The electric part dominates electric fields during the day that's linked to a lot of ATP biology. The magnetic side of the wave of the magnetic flux, deals with ROS and RNS. That deals with timing of how metabolism works. If you don't understand both sides, neither one of those are just a frequency story. It actually is radically different. And as it turns out, the light that's probably the most important of the two are purple and red. Because what does purple (and red?) do? it makes the magnetic flux. It makes all the free radicals in your body.
    The electric side, that everybody focus on in centralized medicine is just the ATP side. And everybody knows, every biochemistry book you open up, have you ever asked the basic question, “Why is it that every metabolic pathway makes a different level of ATP?” Might it be that there's got to be some computer system where those metabolic pathways are appropriate for different parts of the day? Or different tissues in the body that have a different mitochondria footprint or efficiency? It turns out the answer is yes. All those non-visual photo receptors are the things that pay attention to those individual light frequencies. The body is the thing that deciphers that code. All your job is, is to get your a$$ in front of the sun with your two feet on the tectonic plates.
    From the Internet:
    What is ROS - reactive oxygen species?
    Melanin is protection against reactive oxygen species (ROS). Reactive oxygen species are byproducts of your body’s cell processes. When ROS accumulate in your cells, they can lead to stress, premature aging and health concerns such as diabetes and cancer. Melanin scavenges for ROS, boosting antioxidants and eliminating free radicals.
    What are ROS reactive oxygen species?
    A type of unstable molecule that contains oxygen and that easily reacts with other molecules in a cell. A build up of reactive oxygen species in cells may cause damage to DNA, RNA, and proteins, and may cause cell death.
    Define RNS.
    "Reactive Nitrogen Species," which refers to a group of chemically reactive molecules containing nitrogen that are naturally produced within the body and can play various biological roles, including cell signaling, but can also damage cells if present in excessive amounts; the most well-known RNS is nitric oxide (NO).
    What do ROS and RNS mean?
    ROS and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) are the two free radicals derived from both exogenous and endogenous sources that play a very crucial role in maintenance of homeostasis in a biological system.
    Light is the nutrient, UV light is needed
    Interviewer: Are there a specific nutrients that you're getting from the sun? Electro magnetic nutrient that you're getting from the sun around high noon that you would not be getting that actually is quite invaluable and important to get out during those times?
    Dr. Jack Kruse: POMC, nitric oxide, leptin. Those have an absorption spectrum in the deep UV. You have to realize everything requires UV light. So for people to say, “Yeah, I'm gonna stay out of the sun in the midday.” It's wrong.
    There are people that do have to stay out because their biology is so bad. For example, people that take phenothiazines for mental disorders. People that have Lupus. People who have certain autoimmune conditions that are on certain drugs. The drugs photosensitize them. So what do you do? You stop taking the drugs or you sit under the umbrella or you do what I'm doing. I'm outside and I'm not in direct sunlight. All the light around me is UV light even though I'm not in. Is my body able to process that? Yes.
    From the Internet:
    Leptin, nitric oxide (NO), and POMC
    Leptin, nitric oxide (NO), and pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC) neurons are all involved in a number of physiological processes, including energy balance, blood pressure, and reproduction
    What does the POMC do?
    One peptide produced from the POMC protein is called adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). ACTH binds to melanocortin receptor (MC2R), stimulating the release of a hormone called cortisol. This hormone helps maintain blood sugar (glucose) levels, protects the body from stress, and stops (suppresses) inflammation.
    What does cortisol do in the body?
    Cortisol, the primary stress hormone, increases sugar, also called glucose, in the bloodstream, enhances the brain's use of glucose and increases the availability of substances in the body that repair tissues. Cortisol also slows functions that would be nonessential or harmful in a fight-or-flight situation.
    What causes POMC deficiency?
    • Early-onset, severe obesity by age
    • Excessive eating caused by insatiable hunger.
    • Hormone level differences known as endocrine abnormalities ENDOCRINE ABNORMALITIES The endocrine system is made of organs, glands, and hormones that tell the body how to do its job.
    What is Nitric oxide?
    Nitric oxide, abbreviated as NO, is a chemical compound that plays a key role in cell metabolism. It is also crucial in coordinating tissue energy demand with supply.
    The body naturally produces nitric oxide as a free radical. It is the end product of a conversion process of dietary nitrates and vitamin C. One of nitric oxide’s prominent functions is to relax your blood vessels, which improves blood flow and oxygen supply to your tissues. This widening of the blood vessels is also vital in lowering blood pressure.
    Leptin & Leptin Resistance
    What is the function of leptin?
    Leptin’s main function is to help regulate the long-term balance between your body’s food intake and energy use (expenditure). Leptin helps inhibit (prevent) hunger and regulate energy balance so that your body doesn’t trigger a hunger response when it doesn’t need energy (calories).
    Leptin mainly acts on your brainstem and hypothalamus to regulate hunger and energy balance, though you have leptin receptors in other areas of your body.
    Leptin doesn’t affect your hunger levels and food intake from meal to meal but rather acts to alter food intake and control energy expenditure over a longer period of time to help maintain your normal weight.
    Leptin has a more profound effect when you lose weight. As your body fat (adipose tissue) decreases, your leptin levels decrease, which signals your body to think that it’s starving. This stimulates intense hunger and appetite and can lead to increased food consumption.
    How do I raise my leptin levels?
    Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do to raise your leptin levels to decrease hunger and appetite, since your leptin levels are directly related to how much adipose tissue your body has.
    One study found that sleep-deprived people had high levels of ghrelin, a hormone that signals hunger, and lower levels of leptin. Getting appropriate amounts of quality sleep is important for several reasons, so, in any case, it’s beneficial to your overall health.
    Scientists are also looking at the relationship between leptin and triglycerides, a type of fat also known as lipids. Some studies have revealed that high triglycerides seem to impact the way leptin works, but these studies are controversial. While some scientists think a diet that’s designed to lower triglycerides could help boost your leptin levels, other scientists disagree.
    What foods are high in leptin?
    Since leptin is a hormone your body makes and not a nutrient (like vitamin C or protein), no foods contain leptin.
    The sun comes through the window, the blue light comes right through, but all the purple light and 40% to 60% of the red light is blocked. So, what do? Reintroduce some of the red light.”
    Dr. Kruse: …Go buy yourself a spectroscope to actually test this for yourself. So, for example, I’m sitting in my house because I have a cold. Behind my computer is a red light. The reason for that, it’s sunny here. The sun comes through the window, the blue light comes right through, but all the purple light and 40% to 60% of the red light is blocked. So, what do I have to do? I have to reintroduce some of the red light that’s being blocked by the window to offset what I’m getting. And I have an f.lux screen that I’m seeing you through, but even with that, I’m still protecting my eyes with the blue-blocking glasses.
    (A f.lux screen is a computer screen that has been adjusted by the f.lux program to reduce eye strain and improve sleep.)
Some things to consider:
    When you’re inside, open a window, That’s how light works. All you have to do is open a window. When you filter light, even through glass, you are changing the spectrum of the problem. Like one of the diseases that modern medicine has no idea is linked to indoor living is fibromyalgia. Those are people that are all blue light toxic. Why? Because they’re not getting any red light on their muscles. That’s the reason why their muscles constantly hurt. It’s because they’re chronically energy deprived.
    So, if your kids are inside, you wanna do the same thing. Let ’em do their homework outside. Let them do as much as possible outside. I think one of the big problems with kids is video games. They’re creating all these little addicted kids from the blue light toxicity.
    Inside, open the window, introduce red light into the inside environment. Those the simple things you could do.
    Katie: Another recommendation importance of morning sunlight. And I know you’re making the point that being outdoors as much as possible is really important, but it seems like data does look at getting light as soon as possible outdoors, not through a window after waking up is important for that circadian signaling. What’s your take on that? Are there specific times of day?
    Dr. Kruse: The first light of the sun comes up, it resets the circadian mechanism in the central retinal pathways. The second thing that happens, most AM light, that sunrise is red, doesn’t have any UV in it. So, red light is really, really powerful for healing. But probably third and the most important thing, it starts all the hormone cascade that normally happens between 6 and 10 a.m. that’s supposed to happen.
    So, what does it do? Every time you see the sunrise, you’re resetting the default mechanisms in your brain. So, that way you can constantly tell time.
Now, the other thing that’s important is when the sun sets. Sunset for kids is also important. Going to see the sunset. If you really want your kids to perform optimally, especially with their brain, seeing the sunrise and sunset is huge. Most people don’t do that. And it turns out the longer light you get, the better you are.
    And it turns out light stability for children is a big deal because they have a developing brain. So, that’s the reason why I always tell people that nothing replaces sunlight. The more sun you get, the better it is. But here’s the cool thing about kids. Kids don’t need as much sun as their grandmothers or grandfathers do.
    Older people need more light than kids do because kids are…if you look at their body weight, they’re mostly made out of water. 80% of babies when they’re born are water by weight. When you get to be my age, you’re about 55%. And it turns out the number one chromophore for sunlight in our body is water. So, that’s a benefit for children because it means the sun really helps them. So, they don’t need as much as you think. And the kids, they’ll be perfectly fine if you let them play outside and build, you know, their life that way.
    From the Internet:
    A chromophore is a group of atoms and electrons that are part of organic compounds and that interact with light to form color. Chromophores are found within the molecule as a short conjugated system or a chain of atoms connected by alternating single and double bonds.
