    Default Shipibo art

The woman who served as model for this painting by Luis Tamani was a shaman of the Shipibo people. She was murdered on April 19, 2018 in her village with 5 bullets in the chest.
Olivia Arevalo Lomas was the living memory of her people and the guardian of the Shipibo-Conibo traditions.

I've had a strange dream about this woman. In that dream, I was standing by the river in an Amazon village. I was watching children standing on a wooden pontoon and watching an old tree stump floating on the water.
The stump came to touch the pontoon and slowly moved back towards the middle of the river, without the children having time to catch it and bring it back to the edge.

The next day, I had learned of the murder of this woman and I thought that her spirit had come to say goodbye to the children of her tribe and that he had quietly gone back to join the great mystery of the forest...
