Also bear in mind the physical process of moving large sums of cash/money across national borders in a more straightforward sense. Turning a pile of dirty money into a very expensive piece of art is an innocuous and sophisticated version of the blatant and risky approach of a suitcase stuffed with cash.
Like all branches of crime it has its place and is a well polished science within a well polished network.
