ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — North Carolina officials have decided to make it easier to build temporary housing for Helene victims.
In a recent News 13 Investigation, several volunteer groups expressed frustration over the permitting process and rules when it comes to providing temporary shelters. They say because of the red tape, warm homes have been delayed for those in need.

But, the State Fire Marshal has now announced a new emergency rule. It says there is now a list of minimum safety requirements for temporary shelters, such as foundations, roofing, and heating.
