California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) said during an interview with CNN that those who lost their homes in the state’s fires “can’t rebuild the same.”

“You can’t rebuild the same. So we have to rebuild with science. We have to build with climate reality in mind. We have to look at infrastructure, redundancy systems, ingress, egress, as it relates to emergency management and planning, materials,” he said.

“All of that is being reviewed and reconsidered with the latest iterations in terms of understanding and technology. And I say technology in the context of how, again, we build the infrastructure to keep it safe, to address undergrounding of lines, how we address the larger issues of redundancy in terms of systems.”

“Concurrently, people are getting permits. So this is all happening, rolling together. And we want to see construction very shortly. And in the next few years, we want to see hundreds, thousands of homes rebuilt,” Newsom added.

n a private phone call with an anonymous source, Mayor Karen Bass (@MayorOfLA) sought to downplay her trip to Ghana as a brief visit, as criticism mounted: "Just so you know, I'm missing two workdays. That's it. And if President Biden extends me an invitation, I took it,” prioritizing international commitments over immediate local concerns.

Just three days before fires erupted in the Los Angeles area, Bass issued a cryptic message to our source, advising them to "read in between the lines and hold tight… you will understand soon," suggesting she was aware of significant developments that would soon impact the city.

Bass also acknowledged the growing dangers surrounding MacArthur Park. "The situation is very dangerous," she said, citing security concerns. She remained adamant in her refusal to hold a press conference, stating, "I will take the criticism before I do a publicity stunt, and frankly, a press conference at this point in time, which would just be publicity."

Bass further explained her position, stating, "If I have a choice between that and compromising something, I just have to go along with it. It's not my area of expertise," emphasizing her lack of qualifications to make informed decisions regarding the area.

When the source emphasized the safety concerns of residents and property owners MacArthur Park, noting that "41,000 people live within a square mile here," Bass maintained her stance stating, "But they want to hear that something is going to be done,” making it clear that no action is currently being taken to address security risks.

To my mind, anyone who calls it a 'Wildfire' is as clueless as anyone who calls the injection a vaccine.

His environmental common sense is pretty good though.

I watched the first 35 seconds of this video. I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but how, how, how, is that even possible? Someone please explain how trees and structures are untouched while across the concrete equivalent of a four or even five lane highway there is total destruction - next to the ocean. No words. Big fan of Carolla. He's got a no nonsense take on the devastation and does a great job examining it from his long years working in construction, but me thinks he's still missing a big piece of the puzzle. Why is it everyone still approaches and views this from a negligence point of view? How do we bring the evidence that they forcast and publish, it's on video and in print, into the public arena to bring them to justice?

I don't mean to post another Carolla vid, and I've only made it a third of the way through, but take a look what they built for the kids at 13:10. Props to Caruso for having the sense to hire his own firefighters (private, under contract) that saved his village (51 buildings or individual businesses), but he's missing the big picture and putting too much faith in the political "process."
