Regarding the tariffs... I do not know so much.... Canada is having averages about 450 millions in trade yearly with the US... how is it that US has a Trillion dollar deficit with Canada? Math is hard for me...
If you know, that Canada was always as "not equal" with US... just simple look at Canada's Dollar... I think that US used Canada so much too... just see in Alberta with all US oil companies... Oil Sands etc!

I don't entirely comprehend your comment so it is a bit difficult for me to respond. But here is some fairly accurate information regarding tariffs with Canada.

The U.S. goods trade deficit with Canada was $63.3 billion in 2024. This means Americans buy much more stuff and/or are being charged much higher tariffs by the Canadains

All Trump is saying we want an even trade balance. His first go-to is for countries such as Canada to drop all tariffs then Trump will drop all tariffs that America charges Canada. Then the country with the best products and the best prices will win the trade war. But............if Canada insists on charging tariffs (which they do) then Trump will charge tariffs to equalize the inequities.

Now there is a caveat with tariffs. Trump feels (I believe quite rightly) that Canada and Mexico are not doing enough to stop terrorists and fentanyl from coming across the borders. The illegal immigrants were entirely an American-made problem by Biden but that is mostly fixed. Drugs are still pouring in mostly from Mexico and the drug problem is getting exponentially larger from Canada. Also, about 80% of people on the terrorist watch list who are caught are getting in from Canada. So drugs and terrorism are separate issues outside of the trade deficit.

Just as an FYI, I believe the 51-state issue was Trump being pissed off at Trudeau. He said some horriffic things about Trump in the past and never apologized and then when Trump won the election in 2024 Trudeau acted like they were friends. Trump has an ego and he was not going to let it go.

Please explain how drugs are getting into the USA. Aren't drugs coming from all over the world? How are drugs crossing the border exactly? Doesn't USA have a multitude of airports and sea ports where drugs could potentially be shipped from anywhere in the world? What about the shipping of materials, that are entirely legal, but can be mixed to manufacture drugs in special labs?

What terrorists are getting into the USA from Canada? How many of them exactly? What terror acts have they committed on USA soil? How real of a problem is this? I'll repeat this again: it's USA's responsibility to monitor what or who comes across its border. And to detect drug labs. No other country can do that for the USA. The tariff excuse that Trump is using to punish Canada is just so phony. The real agenda, and Trump explicitely and publicly said so himself, is to economically weaken Canada ahead of a USA takeover. The whole world knows that the USA is faltering under a $37 trillions debt. So Trump is just trying to grab and rake in any resources from abroad that he can more easily get his hands on: Panama, Greenland, Gaza, ... and Canada.

If Trump really meant to address the terribly fentanyl crisis in the USA, he would shut down all USA military bases from around the world, get these military personnel back to USA and station them along both borders, at seaports, and airports to monitor the entry of any suspicious substances. Special military units would be in charge of detecting drug labs. Housing and rehabilitation centres would be provided for drug addicts.

But Trump has so far shown more interest in bullying his allies, and in shipping billions $$$ in weapons for Israel's genocidal wars of expansion. He's also continued to ship weapons to Ukraine who uses them to derail the ceasefire proposal. It all sounds like 'weapons CEOs first', and not 'America first'.

Greenland’s PM denounces ‘aggressive pressure’ by US
Mute Egede has condemned a planned visit by Second Lady Usha Vance and key members of the Trump team

The prime minister of Greenland has hit out at the US following the announcement that Second Lady Usha Vance and senior American officials will visit the island on Thursday. The administration of US President Donald Trump is pursuing control over the autonomous Danish territory and its resources.

Mute B. Egede described the upcoming trip – reportedly involving National Security Adviser Michael Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright – as part of “very aggressive American pressure” aimed at “taking over our country over our heads.”

90% of the mere 40 million Canadians live within 150 miles of the US border. There are 8 billion people on the planet, yet they control that vast land and its resources which they dont really even live on.

If competition for resources gets higher and higher, are Canada (40 million) and Russia (145 million and shrinking fast with birth rate and war) going to be able to keep control and claim over gigantic amounts of land and untapped resources. Those extreme northern regions are basically uninhabited yet claimed by the closest connected country south of it.

I don't know what should be done about this, but it makes sense that there is going to be heavy pressure on Canada since we may need to unleash the wealth of the earth (and later the moon or asteroids or mars) to boom industry and avoid a worldwide depression. The 40 million canadians dont have enough people or reason to extract that wealth of resources. Or else we need a tech breakthru answer. I'm really hoping the prediction of the new vastly superior energy source will emerge in 2026 or so. That will really make such an incredible impact more than anything.
