Haiti 10,000 Covid-19 cases, the DR 183,000; Could mass parasite campaigns with Ivermectin have made the difference?
The medical establishment in the Dominican Republic has again gone public speaking out against the use of Ivermectin regarding Covid-19 virus. In the Dominican Republic, almost covertly, thousands of physicians are sucessfully using the drug that was discovered by a former Nobel Prize winner. In the Dominican Republic, the most outspoken promoter of the drug is Dr. Jose Natalio Redondo, after he was able to successfully reduce deaths in Puerto Plata once the drug began to be administered at his clinic.
The Ministry of Public Health on 11 January 2021 issued a statement indicating that Ivermectin is not a recommended treatment for the virus. Likewise, the Dominican Society of Infectology recommends getting vaccinated and keeping physical distance.
Meanwhile, mass parasite programs with Ivermectin for years have been the norm in Haiti. The practice could explain why the low death toll and milder cases in the western side of Hispaniola. Haiti reports 10,272 cases as of the 10 January 2021 report, compared to 183,282 cases in the Dominican Republic. The Miami Herald recently reported in Haiti there is no cap on people gathering, people don’t wear masks and children are back in school. Restrictive measures were relaxed in July 2020. Nightclubs and restaurants are open, music festivals are being held.
Internationally, advocates of the use of Ivermectin urge its approval given its proven efficacy worldwide and low cost. New groups around the world are campaigning for the widespread use of the repurposed drug for its proven effectiveness in saving lives.
Recently, Monseñor Nouel senator and popular merengue band director Hector Acosta urged the government to use drug. He made the statement last Friday, 8 January 2021 when the Senate passed a 45-day extension of the National State of Emergency. He recommended the prophylactic use of the drug.
Around the world, many communities have resorted to mass parasite campaigns to get around the reluctance of incorporating the low-cost pharmaceutical Ivermectin in Covid-19 treatment protocols.
In the Dominican Republic, the government has approved costly pharmaceuticals such as Remdesivir and Tocilizumab for treatment of the disease.
In El Salvador, the Central American country with the best record in the region, the government gives out Covid-19 kits that include Ivermectin to all who test positive for ambulatory care. El Salvador has only 4,121 active cases (population 6.5 million) and the DR has 41,967 active cases (population 10.5 million).
Dr. Pierre Kory of the Front Line Covid-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC) urged the US Senate to incorporate the pharmaceutical into authorized treatments in the United States when appearing during an 8 December 2020 hearing. The FLCCC urges the US government to called for the government to swiftly review the already expansive and still rapidly emerging medical evidence on Ivermectin.
