Do you still see many Maskers (Covidians) around you?

Recently I saw a lot of mask wearers again in public space such as shops and groceries, young students at my old university (near me and where I occasionally visit the library in order to read), even outside on the streets and in pedestrian areas ... and even on hot sunny days.

Still makes me activate my inner or each time.

It seems they are not going away. Some cases are extreme. This recent vid by Paul Watson also shows this:

The Cult is very much alive it seems. And ready to go into total (re-)activation mode every time again as soon as the media and politics spin another 'p(l)andemic'.

So I'd be interested to know: How is it going on in your area (country, city, rural area) where you live: Do you see a lot of these 'zombies' there? Is the Covidian Cult still visibly active around where you live?

In Toronto there are about 10% who still wear masks. Mostly older people but there are also the hip youngsters, who I believe only wear them to virtue signal or even as a fashion statement.

Wow. 10% ??!! That is a whole lot of people. Insane. Much more than in my area. It is not even 1% round here and I am already disturbed by them.

I see them around.

When I do, they register in my mind as a hazard warning telling me not to engage or even assume normal behaviour, as when I see an L plate on a car approaching a mini roundabout.

I think there is three main groups of Covidian Cult followers we can identify, all according to their main motive(s) and connected psychology. People can of course fall into all three of these categories but there might also be some proper ones who only or mainly belong to one.

A) Left-wing Ideologists (Fascists)
They are the worst. They wear a mask as a 'badge' or a 'uniform'. Some critics think that the mask is the new swastika. Thus getting and following state mandates (masks, vaccines, lockdowns, etc.) is compatible with their 'socialist' world view and possibly even wished-for. Denouncing the non-compliant people is seen as justified to them with all the acceptable consequences (cancel culture, etc.). They are the (mainly political) enemy.

B) Conformists
Not the worst but still bad. (Instilled) Fear is a factor here. They are 'believers' and thus victims of the brainwash by media and politics. Most are just willing to be compliant and do everything to 'belong' to 'society'. Some are of the Milgram-experiment type. They would do 'anything' to their fellow human beings to obey and follow. Not because they are necessarily downright evil but because of their religious submission to authority and due to fear.
Any person with a deviating opinion thus will be disregarded, ignored or even disrepected, in some cases also denounced. Cognitive dissonance often also applies here. Any opposing views have to be rejected. They might or might not be kind of fascist too.
However, not all of them are strict 'denouncers' of non-compliant non-mainstream people though. For some it's just the fear. I believe that some of the conformists even might have hidden sympathies (or even admiration) for the resistant non-compliant people. And some might have regrets today (although don't dare admit it due to their still existing conformism they can't overcome) that they went along with all of this (masks, jabs, etc.).

C) Hypochondriacs
I admit I do feel a lot of sympathy and empathy for them. Still think they are wrong anyway but there might be some chronically ill (and many old) persons who do it out of 'real' fear for their health due to their bad immune system.
Others might be just real hypochondriacs who have been already viro- and bacteriophobes for a long time. Hence some of them might have had this trait before this officially proclaimed Covid 'pandemic', so it just fell on fertile ground. On the other hand some might have been brainwashed into it by the media's 24-hour fear propaganda.
The end result makes no difference anymore though. They are now purely fear-driven compliant subjects.
In extreme cases they also might be 'denouncers' of the non-compliant people. Not because of ideology but because they view them as 'terrorists' and as a danger to public and their personal health and well-being, or even a danger to their life.

Around here, the very few wearing them are generally elderly, and very feeble looking people. Generally they have recently undergone a surgery or are being treated for cancer. Not particularly hypochondriacs, but likely advised to wear it by their doctor or loved ones.

In Japan where wearing masks has always been popular I'd guess about 80% wear them on the trains and buses. Outside probably 50% wear them. All shop clerks, waiters, receptionists etc. wear them and half the customers wear them now. It is considered impolite not to wear them when interacting inside.

This is in the Tokyo/Yokohama area.

In Alberta... in the Rockies.. Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise... no-one is wearing it... neither old people like me .. here and there I am noticing some tourists from Asia...

Where I live (Zagreb/Croatia) only Asian tourists wear them. They wore them even before covid.
I never understood their mindset behind this "masking" and where does the submissive Asian stereotype come from?

Still see them here now and again. However, I believe it is for general health purposes and not just Covid.
