🫡"Immortal Regiment" marches around the world — the procession with portraits of heroic ancestors took place in Australia, Argentina, the Netherlands, China, the USA and other countries.

In Washington (1 video), the event took place for the first time in six years. There, Russians laid flowers at the memorial inscription "Murmansk" and the bas-relief "Meeting on the Elbe". Wartime songs were heard on the main square of Amsterdam (2 videos), and in Buenos Aires (3 videos), more than a hundred people walked along one of the central squares of the city.

Some other cities where the "Immortal Regiment" took place:

🇹🇷Ankara: not only Russians, but also many representatives of the CIS countries joined the event. Security measures were strengthened around the Russian embassy due to the large number of people wishing to participate;

🇻🇪Caracas: About 450 people took to the streets of the Venezuelan capital. The event was attended by high-ranking representatives of the Venezuelan authorities, including the deputy chairman of the United Socialist Party for International Affairs, Rander Peña;

I suspect (but don't have the expertise to know for sure!) that some of this confusion, that's always been present in the war reporting since the start of the SMO, lies in the differences between the Russian and Ukrainian names for towns and villages.

Yes, that's a source of confusions, but my confusions had a simpler cause. I was listening with half deaf Yankee ears to someone speaking proper nouns with a fluent Russian accent ... with no accurate spelling available of what he was saying. He could have said "Moscow" and it might have taken me a couple of rewinds and re-listens to be sure he hadn't just said "Kyiv" (well, not quite that bad ... but close.)

Please don't forget that it was started (actually by Yours Truly) far ahead of the war on April 3rd 2001. So one page per day could still be approximately the correct rate (too lazy to calculate right now).

Back then in spring 2021 I never hoped this thread to survive for long since of course I hoped that this looming war would never really fully start.

Damned, I've never been so wrong before.

Of course, you're quite right! But all the 2021 posts were contained to just the first page.

So the difference isn't really that much. Page 2 started with your own post of 22 Jan 2022. After that, the thread began to quickly accelerate with 14 fast-moving pages in the next month. (We were on 16 Feb by page 8, just a week before the declared start of the SMO.)

It's true if we look at the current/new German parliament (Bundestag). But the BSW (a leftist party that split off from the Linke (Left) Party) is also pro-peace and good relations with Russia.
They did not make it into the Bundestag by a hair's breadth with slightly under 5% (which is the hurdle to take). They were actually very strong months before the General Election (10 % or more) but made some vital mistakes in a state (Bundesland) election, and then the Linke Party (who were weak) could steal lots of voters from them and reached the Bundestag instead (unfortunately).
With the BSW in the Bundestag and the AfD at nearly 25% we could have almost a 30% resistance potential.
