❗️🇹🇷 - A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Dodecanese Islands and Turkey’s western coast, centered in the Aegean Sea at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles), per USGS.

Felt across Greece and Turkey, the quake hit a seismically active region along the African-Eurasian tectonic plate boundary.

No damage or casualties reported yet, but authorities are assessing and urging vigilance for aftershocks.

The quake had a shallow depth of 68 km (42 mi) and was felt over a large region. The shallow depth of the quake caused it to be felt more strongly near the epicenter than a deeper quake of similar magnitude would.
