Default Unsolved Mysteries: Bigfoot and Skinwalker

    42 mins long:

I originally posted this video in the "Coins Dropping From Nowhere" thread, but having just rewatched it I think it deserves a thread of its own.

It comes from the 'Unsolved Mysteries' series. It centers around 2 Navajo Rangers who are tasked with investigating cryptid activity in the Navajo Nation, particularly Bigfoot and Skinwalker activity.

It's a very well done show. Not only does it include unknown vocalizations, but also videotape of what appears to be a shadow figure emerging out of nothing and running westward.

We get plenty of very convincing testimonials from the Navajo people, and even a cluster of Bigfoot hair is discovered on a barbed wire fence (and enormous footprints, from which molds were made).

As usual with this type of thing there is increased UFO activity in the area. Some fantastic pictures are shown, including one over Satan's Butte depicting what appears to be a large glowing mothership emitting tendrils of light onto the butte.

The 2 Navajo Rangers also experience the "hitchhiker effect", which is paranormal activity that follows investigators of such things home, for those that don't know. In this case it's coins materializing out of thin air and bouncing off the ground (and always landing heads up).

All sorts of goodies in this one. Well worth the time imo.

I watched this. Great stuff! Got me looking into a couple others. One about Mothman sightings around Chicago and then this one:

"My Paranormal Partner" - Unsolved Mysteries S5 E2 on Netflix.

Convincing evidence confirms there's a consensual partnership between paranormal investigator Don Philips and an entity called "Becky". But what's alarming about all this is twofold.

On one hand, multiple investigators are well aware of the critical dangers of possession and yet they recklessly tempt fate for the thrill of it.

And then there's Don. Proud to be possessed by "Becky". Feels he'd be half a man without "her". And happy to let "Becky" lead him around forever, come what may.

Don's possession is romanticised in this episode. An advertisement of sorts for demons to purr, "pick me, pick me," to ordinary, lonely, silly people. And that's not good.

You ever come across this atmosphere before Mike? Or do most of the shows stick with the dark side of all this, as they should.

Those are all good episodes! I've seen them all.

This new incarnation of Unsolved Mysteries is really good. And that bloody theme music they play...it's as weird and disturbing to me now as it was when I watched the show as a kid. My God, it makes my nerves all jangly and can't end soon enough. And for those reasons it's just perfect.

Re Don and Becky: I agree entirely with your thoughts on this episode. They do romanticize this one, which to my way of thinking made this episode just as dark as the others. But I get your point, and yeah most of the episodes in this vein are cautionary. This one stands out for its naivete.

Shamelessly bumping this for anyone who might have missed it. This is really an excellent episode and well worth watching.

I remember watching this episode, some years ago, and do recommend it!

I'm bumbing for this episode with texts from native american author Ardy "Sixkiller" Clarke.

"An academic of Native American descent who’s contributed greatly to our collective awareness of these various forms of non-human intelligence"
