❗️🇨🇱 - Magnitude 6.4 Earthquake Hits Chile, Leaves Thousands Without Power

A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck Chile, affecting regions from Antofagasta to Coquimbo, with the strongest impact felt in Atacama, according to Chile’s National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (SINAPRED).

Authorities confirmed the quake does not meet the criteria to trigger a tsunami along Chile’s coast.

The earthquake caused power outages for nearly 24,000 people in various sectors of Copiapó, Atacama. Minor landslides were also reported and are being monitored. SINAPRED response teams are deployed, assessing and addressing emergency situations caused by the event.
