    Default Tales From the Cryp[tid]

This is a thread for long-story videos of encounters with cryptids, and other bizarre and unknown creatures in the wild.

Call it a short but interesting interlude from the madness.

The following are three such fascinating stories. Can be watched or listened to. They're worth watching though for the evocative artwork.

    **

The Megalodon has been extinct (or so says science) for at least 3million years. But a number of frightening encounters at sea claim otherwise. Giant sharks roam the deeps, some, purportedly, measuring over one-hundred feet in length.

The Solomon Islands have been called 'the land that time forgot'. Natives live in fear of a tribe of terrifying cryptids that lurk in the dense interior -- 'Giants', that have a taste for human flesh..

Mount Vottovaara (a thread on it here) located on the Finnish/Russian border, is feared by the indigenous Sámi people; it is rumoured to be a portal, a gateway to 'other realms'. In 1939, during the Winter War between Russia and Finland, the Red Army took the high ground of Mount Vottovaara as part of their offensive. It would be a mistake.

Thanks Mark, after a busy week this is a reminder to catch up with these! I've followed the parent channel Bedtime Stories since the early days and that has a lot of cryptid episodes, Wartime Stories was developed from that and is excellent in its own right.

I once read of a tribe deep in the Congo that elevate their huts on stilts. The reason isn't snakes, or floods, or cheetahs, or baboons or anything conventional you can think of. They live in fear of a terror that creeps by night. A beast that's been known to snatch full grown men and eat them. Natives call these horrors J'ba FoFi.

Also known as The Giant Congolese Spider.

Crazy! Can't believe anything one sees. Probably best to delete this one as well and I'm going to ignore anything else that comes with a ?

It's always a good idea to approach with caution, but that doesn't mean you should discard all evidence, thinking it a hoax or fraud. There are many diamonds in the mud out there, but you have to sift carefully to find them.

Begin by reading the comments to see what viewers are saying. That's how I found the link to Stan Winston Studio with the video above. This is by no means an objection to your post -- believe me, I've fallen for a number of hoaxes myself! I've since learned there's very often more to a clip than what it seems at first glance. I've learned to be wary!

I've recently watched his story on a few other podcasts too, it's a really interesting encounter. It's about the only one I've came across where there was a type of attempted communication like he describes.

I image he must of felt quite "small" when this being approached him!!!!! LOL

One specific detail he mentions I find quite fascinating is he noticed there was no life-line on this beings palm. Not sure what to think about that.

The way he describes the one that approached him sounds so eerily familiar to my encounter, as if we almost seen the same one. Except the one I saw didn't have blue eyes, the one I saw had black or really dark brown eyes. The one I saw was larger to, a good 10ft tall. (Ginormous!)

Yeah, I think he said the eyes were blue like a Huskies eyes.

I've never heard that in any other Bigfoot testimony. And I've never heard anyone describe the sort of arm gesturing communication either. Normally anomalies like those would cause me to doubt a story like this, but in this instance it kind of had the opposite effect on me.

If he's making it all up he's a damn good storyteller.

    Wow. I recommend this!

My own thoughts: when truck driver Joe Barger returned to the scene he says there were now other people there. In Joe's recounting he says these strangers gave some excuse for being there as following bear activity, but I noticed they didn't mention the gunshot.

People being there screams out 'not a coincidence'. Then he says the FBI visit him and describe the thing as an 'asset'. Obviously they would track and monitor weird assets like that.

So, is that thing the result of clandestine human genetic experiments? I can't believe I'm thinking this but it could like be a bigfoot/dire wolf cross lol. Joe made one shot, with what he thought was a likely ineffective weapon, and struck true like David and Goliath, and good riddance.

I agree. The only red flag about his story to me is that it's so uniquely different than any other I've heard with the manner the being approached him and the sign language etc. The way he said it tapped it's finger on it's palm was really strange, why would it even do that? I am a bit skeptical but he is quite convincing.

I know for a fact what I seen was 1000% real, but I also know 99% of the people won't believe me.
