Play around with less than $10 for a few days before buying anymore than that.

    By play around I mean:
    Buy $10 worth of Bitcoin.
(This alone will take some time)
Now that you've got a bitcoin wallet with $10...

    Make another wallet !
Now send a tiny amount from one wallet to the other.
Send a tiny amount to friend.
Pretend like you lost access to however you access your wallet.
Restore the wallet using a different device

It will all seem simple after doing this a few times, I always tell people to now do the same thing with a different Bitcoin wallet program/ app.

I can report some involvement with Bitcoin, a little with Etherium, like so many I missed the cue for the really huge gains the crypto nerds had once BTC exploded from being a few cents to multiple 10's of thousands of dollars in value - but I was able to 'live off it' during the Covid period, that year 2020 I managed to pay most of my living bills from a few thousand Australian dollars I had invested from about 2018 - each time I converted 3-500 bucks worth it would catch up and regain its value, which was very nice at the time.
There are all kinds of schemes, and claims being made regarding trading crypto, with an absolute plethora of coin types - this gives me a headache trying to keep up with it; I stick to Bitcoin and regard this as being an additional savings strategy, I have a few grand invested and keep it to this - you might decide otherwise. I think Bitcoin in particular is set to increase in value once again, so it is a wise bet to have a little invested. I use the Australian exchange: https://www.btcmarkets.net/, this is available to others I think also.

XRP, yes I investigated this new payment process it seems poised to become something significant, I bought 79 of them for a beginning, sometimes I think "if the electricity goes down, all of this goes to zero" - I seem to be going through a maudlin phase.

Some have told me that XRP was poised to replace Swift. We'll see. This morning, all my profits have disappeared (LOL). I am in it for the long run, patience...

Also, no electricity, yes, it goes down, however not zeroed, they are still there, just inaccessible.

To me, it's about diversifying, don't have all my eggs in one basket.

    Not financial advice.

    HOLD. (HODL !)

    Buy the dip.

Time in the market beats timing the market. New investors should not sell for a long time (I would say at least two years).

Don't sell at a loss, just wait. If you do make a loss, you will loose sleep as well - maybe even some hair.

Don't invest more (or take a position bigger) than you can afford loose completely.

Rule by logic not emotion when dealing with Crypto.

Not your keys not your crypto!

Remember about Capital Gains Tax when you sell (assuming you realize a gain lol).

(If you don't understand any of these cliche bits of advice, you are not ready to risk Crypto and how much it can mess with your head).

    --

My Crypto story full of fun and some stress and some happiness.

I mined BTC LTC and Vertcoin in 2014. Stopped early 2015. Was proud owner of the biggest electricity bill at my rental I had ever seen.

Forgot about it all till 2018. Did some trading. Made some. Lost some. Lost sleep. Stressed myself out.

Decided this was a stupid way to live and stopped trading. I think I posted about it on here somewhere. Lessons were learned.

In closing out my positions kept XRP, and swept all the rest into BTC.

Sold 20% by value of BTC a few years ago and bought XRP with the proceeds. Paid a lot of tax that year I did this because at the time I saw BTC as a libertarian dream, and XRP as a capitalist dream. One or other should work out - maybe neither. I aimed for a 50:50 balance by value of BTC:XRP at the time. Since then I got some more XRP when it was cheap and I had some spare cash. Not regretting that at all now.

Sold 60% of the BTC in 2022 when I got made redundant and with that and severance I retired. Increasingly I value XRP more than BTC so I never sold any XRP.

With the gains in the last two years, the value of my investment is almost as much as it was before I sold the 60% - which seems crazy to me - but we are in a crazy world.

I'm about 30:60:10 weighted by value in BTC:XRP:XLM respectively. No plans to sell now until I need to. It might all go to zero and I don't care anymore. I already got what I wanted and I am very grateful for that.

Final words. BTC is probably a deep state thing - at least that is what I suspect. (Baby Transfer Currency I have seen it called) There is a risk of it being zero'd once that is all exposed, so diversify.

IMHO there is no shame in holding no bitcoin. The remaining bitcoin I hold cost me nothing except the effort in mining all those moons ago and all that is already paid for.

XRP /XLM seem the most legitimate to me, but for long term. Only sell if you have a need and no other option.

This is theoretically possible, and RIPPLE company has set up links between international banks already for exchange of value. If they did all the banks, and SWIFT did not evolve then they could out-compete it.

The method used for value exchange is by sending XRP tokens on the network but the demand for them is not set by the market because RIPPLE hold a lot of XRP in escrow.

SWIFT tipped its hand in the showing itself to be subject to unexpected levels of control and surveillance (with the US being the one doing the insisting) and Russia, Iran and North Korea all got expelled from SWIFT since 2012.

RIPPLE and their customers will all have to follow the same anti-terrorist controls that were originally imposed on all banks by the US/EU

    • "Stablecoins" Are WORSE Than CBDCs! with Mark Goodwin:

CONVERSATION RECORDED JULY 17, 2025. House Republicans just celebrated their "Crypto Week" with the passage of an Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act and the passage of a stablecoin-promoting GENIUS Act. And, whether you know it or not, this new stablecoin regulatory regime is going to transform your life and the entire global monetary order. Here today to fill us in on all the details is Mark Goodwin, co-author with Whitney Webb on a series of articles about this new blockchain regime and the powers-that-shouldn't-be who are behind it.
