Default OffGrid: Fishing for the Big One - Mountain style

    Who doesn't love a good fishing/hunting story?

Yesterday I broke out my trusty gear. Old fashioned, made of wood with metal (none of that modern day composite crap for me, thank you very much), and the bait. Oh, you must have the proper bait. Stong enough to withstand some teasing but light enough to take it in one gulp - which is what we are looking for here. I've managed to cook up my own special (patent-pending) bait for every size and occasion.

Finding the right spot is also key. I wanted a perch to lay the bait right on it, but I also wanted to make it a challenge for the beast. Because beasts love challenges.

And speaking of beast - what a specimen I was after! Not only large, but older than sin! Knows all of the tricks - has been nearly caught many times - but each time he alludes the traps and escapes by millimeters.

And patience. Patience, thy name is "hunter/fisher". The right spot, the right bait, the right equipment, the right time (very, very early my friends), and then the lovely wait that you wish upon the brightest stars will come to success. And the snap! Oh, that sound!

And success we have! Touchdown! The Big Beast is Bagged!

Biggest rat I have caught in a long time.

Oh, I never said it was about a fish, did I?

Well, that silver streaked, black furred, disturber of the peace is now in the bag - the double garbage bag, to bother and tease my dogs and cats no longer. And a safe nights sleep, unencombered, we shall have!
