And for minor burns, Lavender essential oil is brillliant - just dab a little on the burn and the pain is gone. I'm prone to accidentally picking up hot pans etc while cooking, and the relief is instant. This oil is great during summer when the midges bite (they always go for me ) and good for general insect bites too.
Lavender oil has many many uses, physical and mental/emotional...too much of a big list to go into here (it's late for me) but it's safe to say it covers many medical minor emergencies.

This thread is offering up so many things I had not considered. And Running Deer, I had accidentally passed over the DMSO post entirely... I apparently clicked it, believing it was for something else... That is really something worth having! Thank You!

I was unaware that lavender oil also had so many uses. I used to create lavebdar bath salts, but never knew it did so many other things...

I use Kanberra Gel instead of sachets. It’s natural and long lasting. It gets rid of odors rather than cover them up. I began with the small size and added as I went along. Now I use the 24 oz Refill size with the original containers.
    kanberragel.com
    WHAT MAKES KANBERRA DIFFERENT?

It’s the rich history of our founder Joel Solly, and his personal commitment to providing the purest, safest, yet toughest fight against airborne odor possible and enhance in-door air quality. For over two decades, Joel has lived and breathed bringing fresh air into hundreds of thousands of homes, boats, RV’s, cars, and locker rooms, safely and effectively.
    Amazon comments:
    • I use Kanaberra Gel in my cars, on my boat, and in the basement to maintain a fresh smell and prevent mold. This is not the cheapest product on the market…. But nothing else is an all natural air freshener that also prevents musty mold and mildew. I have been using this for year and defiantly recommend.
    • This actually works. My car had pizza smell I just couldn’t get rid of. Weeks of trying everything. My car had most horrible smell of onions. People refused to get in unless all windows were open. This actually got rid of the smell. My daughter used it when she spilled perfume and it worked great.
    • I have a closet that smokers put there coats in that has retained the smell for 20 years. This product cut it with no offensive cover up smell.
    • I have used this product once before to get the smell of cigarettes out of my previously owned car and the odor was eliminated. I even had a tea tree diffuser in my car along with the odor eliminator and I couldn't even smell the tea tree. I wish it gave off a much stronger scent of Australian pure tea tree oil. Though it took out the nasty odor from my car beautifully fast.
    • No one has to know your cat boxes are in the room next door.

WHAT DOES LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL DO?

All essential oils are extracted from plant material through steam distillation. With lavender, it takes about 3 pounds of flowers to pack all the powerful healing properties of the plant into just half an ounce of essential oil.

So lavender essential oil doesn’t just smell nice. It’s made up of hundreds of soothing natural compounds, and when you inhale it or apply to your skin, it can have a profound effect on both your mind and your body.

So just how does lavender oil work? When the scent of lavender essential oil is inhaled, the aromatic molecules travel up your nose to your olfactory bulb, which immediately sends a message to the limbic system, often referred to as the ‘emotional brain’. The limbic system influences many basic things like breathing, blood pressure, stress levels and hormone balance. But it’s also where your memories, emotions and feelings are stored. That’s why the scent of cookies baking can quickly trigger a memory from childhood.

This whole process happens within milliseconds. It’s why we often have an immediate response when we smell something - instantly triggering a mood, emotion or physical reaction. And it’s why just one whiff of lavender can often make you immediately feel calmer and more relaxed.

Lavender essential oil also works effectively when applied to the skin. It has a low molecular weight and is fat soluble, which means its healing components easily penetrate skin and provide benefits to the body. When applied topically, it is rapidly absorbed - it takes a mere 20 minutes for the oil to affect every cell in the body. And in many instances, you actually get a twofold benefit as you also inhale the essential oil at the same time as you apply it topically.

Because it’s highly concentrated and potent, it’s important to note that lavender essential oil always needs to be diluted before applied topically. It’s also a good idea to safety test for sensitivity on the inside of your upper arm before use.

MAKE SURE YOU USE 100% PURE LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL

As essential oils aren’t regulated, it can be very easy to purchase the wrong product instead of a pure lavender essential oil. Here’re some things to look out for to make sure you’re getting a 100% pure lavender essential oil:

Avoid ‘fragranced’ or ‘perfume oils’:[/B] Fragranced oils are just that – a synthetic fragrance or perfume added to an oil without all the health and healing benefits of a pure lavender essential oil extracted from the plant.

Check the label: It should include the Latin name of the plant, which in the case of lavender is Lavandula angustifolia, if other ingredients have been added to it (should be the just pure lavender essential oil without fillers), and country of origin.

Dark colored glass bottles: Reputable companies package essential oils in either brown or blue glass bottles to protect the quality. Pure lavender essential oils are highly concentrated and degrade plastic bottles over time.

Evaluate the company: Look for a trustworthy company or brand that has been around for a number of years.

Compare prices: Prices between different brands can cover a broad range depending upon their production and sourcing methods. Pure essential oil prices can also vary widely within a brand due to the scarcity/availability of each base ingredient. However, if you find a lavender essential oil at a rock bottom price, it’s probably not genuine.

I used to buy the lavendar oil, and large bags of natural sea salts from the healthfood store... (You could get a 20lb. bag for only $5 at the time)... Looking back now, I was very niave to the full benefits of essential oils, knowing only a efw benefits of most oils... but I did like the lavendar oil benefits at the time, and because I was so busy, I only really played with the lavendar to any large degree... (Outside of tea tree oil, which I never run out of)...

I would place the salts on a cookie sheet, and apply lavendar oil onto them, and allow them to absorb what they would, then move the salts onto another tray, and allow them to "Dry" as much as they would, (with oil on them...) And then pack very small cotton bags , with drawstrings that could be hung directly under running water in a bath... with the coated salts...

I would put little labels with instructions on how to dissolve the salts in warm bath water, and share them as gifts... As really, you never had to open the bags... the salts would begin to dissolve through the bags, leaving any salts that didn't dissolve, in the bag, which you could just collect and toss out...

The sea salts, unprocessed, did amazing things for the skin, and the lavendar, well, at the time, I knew it was relaxing, calming, and smelled nice, so I just gave them away for those simple benefits... Sometimes with other little "personal care" gift items... Having no idea the depth of the other things that the oil accomplishes...

I would probably still be making these dissolvable little pouches and sharing them, but after awhile, the concentrated lavendar oil scent overwhelmed me... It got to the point where I couldn't even tolerate the smell anymore, because it was so concentrated while in the process of being prepared...

I think I am going to have to definately revisit the essential oil arena. If I could give advice? At the time, there was a lot of controversy about using essential oils improperly, where people would apply them directly to the skin, causing major reactions, as this stuff is very concentrated... So if I could give one piece of advise, it would be to USE SPARINGLY .. But definately use!

I knew someone planting Lavender, he got this purple field full of butterflies (we got a butterfly season here), so beautiful and great smell, he said it is a sort of perennial herb and grows very easy, you don't actually need to take good care, it likes full sun, and alkaline soil, and that is the only problem around here, it is too acidic, but with some amendments is possible to plant it like he did. They burn it in a incense burner, first they dry the plant and then light up.. smoky but great smell, I didn't know it was a super herb, my grandmother used to have around the house to repel bugs and mosquitoes, apparently these insects hate the smell of it.

Tribhuvankirti Rasa (contains purified cinnabar / mercury sulfide)-(and very poisonous herbs like Aconitum ferox and Datura metel) is also used for fever just like Mahasudarshan. Because of Mercury it boosts the powder of herbs.

    Here to bump Lavender oil.

Three or four years ago, while I was visiting my doctor regarding a venous stasis skin condition, he looked up remedies on his computer and recommended Lavender oil. I got up and looked at the screen, and yeah that name.

So I went and bought a small bottle, with a squeeze-dropper top. Put it on, full-strength drops, and it stung, and it also smelled like I was using a way-flowery perfume, so I shelved it.

Then last year I looked it up properly, and started using it again. Now, it’s 4 drops per cup of water, which each cup of has a good tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, in a spray bottle kept in the fridge (first had it staged room temp, had plugging of the squirter due to visible ~clotting) and vigorously shook to mix the oil. Dunno if any therapeutic effect, but it makes me smell nicer but not overpoweringly.

For immediately increasing the platelets. During emergency such as malaria, dengue etc platelets count goes down too much. Even if there's a situation for platelet transfusion this remedy can increase patient's platelets overnight, and when doctors tests the platelets next day to finally make sure that it is decreasing or increasing, he will see good changes.

    • Sahastra Puti Abhrak Bhasma (=calcined mica ash 1000 times) {costly} OR Shat Puti Abhrak Bhasma (=calcined mica ash 100 times) {less costly} [Max 300mg per day]
    • Mandoor Bhasma [Max 500mg per day]
Mix them in 1:1 OR more ratio in sufficient amount of Honey or fresh butter or ghee.

When not in emergency Lohasav, Drakshasav etc can be used.

As of today, only buy Sahastra / Shata Puti Abhrak Bhasma of DHOOTPAPESHWAR BRAND. Only this brand can be truly trusted for the preparation of various kinds of BHASMAS. Other ingredients means the GILOY SAT you can even buy from Baidyanath brand.
There are many doctors and pharmacies that do produce authentic Bhasma but it would be very difficult to know and buy for global customers.
