75 mice, fruit flies, and fungi will fly into space aboard the "Bion-M" satellite.
On August 20, a Soyuz-2.1b rocket is planned for launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome with the Bion-M No. 2 biosatellite. The spacecraft will be placed into a sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of about 370–380 km, where it will remain for approximately one month.
On board are 75 mice, fruit flies, plants, seeds, fungi, microorganisms, and cell cultures. The experiment is aimed at studying the effects of weightlessness and cosmic radiation on living organisms.
According to Roscosmos, the radiation level in the satellite's orbit will be about 30% higher than on the ISS orbit. The results of the experiment will be summarized in a few months.
