Reminds me of the Hobbit thread we did up to the run up
of the movie trilogy , which was not as good as the Lord
of the ring trilogy.Which in turn were not as good as either
book imo. But still they were fun romps in the spirit of Tolkien.

HBO has taken TV series nearer movie quality than ever before
especially in battle scenes , epic music , CGI , costume and
story telling. Of course it helps with goo source material.....

With the HBO GOT series coming to an end it would be great if they
did a Lord of the Rings series where they could use all the characters
left out of the movies......It would not be for several years if at all
and a new generation of actors would have come up .
