We need as many (or more) words for A.I. as Eskimos have for "snow". Without them, our discussions and understanding will hit the rocks.
Human effort enhancing technology is almost as old as humans. The introduction of information processing algorithms into that mix is not a problem, it's a benefit as long we (a) stand the right way up and (b) hold or apply that technology the right way up. The problem is the intellectual dominance of wrong way up aspirations and in those forming an early access power block getting primary and elite fortress access to that technology.
Even as things currently stand, information processing algorithms can be put to work to counter that risk ( certainty?) that the wrong way up world will reach a runaway escalation to infinity.
Imagine, if an electrical gadget runs on a battery compartment full of six 1.5v batteries but you put 3 of those batteries in the circuit the opposite way around they will cancel the voltage and current supplying capacity of the 3 that are fitted the right way around. The result of that is that the gadget will not power up and function. A.I. could be used as opposing polarity power cancellation too, while the mass, but left behind, common sense consciousness catches up with, overtakes and lights up the 359 degree blind spot of the consciousness of the techno geekery madness.
Here's an AI proponent describing a street level "content creator" angle view of the general concept of self cancelling A.I. power.
