COP30 climate summit evacuated after fire disrupts negotiations




BELEM, Brazil, Nov 20 (Reuters) - A fire that forced an evacuation of the COP30 climate summit in the Brazilian city of Belem on Thursday was under control, officials said, although it was unclear whether delegates would return immediately to continue negotiations.

Brazil's tourism minister told reporters at the venue that the fire was under control and no one was hurt, but that he did not know whether delegates would be able to return today or Friday to the part of the venue where the summit negotiations were taking place.

Summit organizers also confirmed the fire was under control, adding that Brazilian fire officials had ordered the evacuation of the summit's entire premises.

The UN climate body said the fire service would conduct safety checks and expected to provide an update later in the afternoon.

The summit in the Amazon city was initially scheduled to wrap up on Friday, but it missed a self-imposed Wednesday deadline to secure agreement among the nearly 200 countries present on issues including how to increase climate finance and shift away from fossil fuels.

The fire scare occurred in what is already a hive of activity during the summit's two-week run, interrupting ongoing negotiations inside the venue.

A siren sent delegates, observers and journalists running for the exits with their belongings, as police lined up as a barrier to prevent anyone from nearing the area where the fire was reported.

TV footage showed flames and smoke inside the venue, a conference center on the site of a former airport.

Since kicking off earlier this month, the summit has drawn multiple protests demanding climate action and forest protection, at times interrupting talks.

Minnesota Medicaid Fraud Tied to Al-Shabaab: Investigation Uncovers Startling Connections



An investigation has uncovered a fraudulent scheme involving Minnesota’s Medicaid autism-care programs, where millions have been misappropriated and funneled back to Somalia, allegedly supporting terror groups. The scandal, centered around the Somali community in Minneapolis, involves nearly 100 autism clinics falsely billing Medicaid for services under the guise of treating children with autism.

New revelations suggest the scale of the fraud is significantly larger than earlier reports indicated. At the core of the issue is the oversight by Minnesota’s Governor Tim Walz, previously a vice-presidential candidate for the Democratic Party, under whose administration these welfare schemes have been mismanaged.

The financial implications of this mismanagement are staggering. For instance, the state’s Medicaid Housing Stabilization Services program was initially projected to cost $2.6 million in 2021. However, actual disbursements far exceeded expectations, with expenses skyrocketing to $21 million in its inaugural year. The following years saw expenditures rise dramatically to $42 million, then $74 million, and eventually $104 million. By mid-2025, the program had already accrued $61 million in costs, as reported by City Journal.

The fraud extends beyond autism programs, affecting various Minnesota welfare initiatives. A notable case involves Asha Farhan Hassan, a Somali woman charged with defrauding the state’s Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention program. She allegedly orchestrated a scheme that siphoned off $14 million through false autism diagnoses for Somali children.

Prosecutors have revealed that Hassan and her associates offered Somali families monthly kickbacks ranging from $300 to $1,500 per child to enroll them in the state’s autism treatment initiatives.

Prosecutors now say that Hassan and her cohorts approached Somali families and promised them kickbacks of between $300 to $1500 a month per child if they enrolled in the state’s autism treatment programs.

The fraud in autism treatment has skyrocketed apart from Hassan’s alleged criminal enterprises. The Journal notes that “autism claims to Medicaid in Minnesota have skyrocketed in recent years — from $3 million in 2018 to $54 million in 2019, $77 million in 2020, $183 million 2021, $279 million in 2022, and $399 million in 2023.”

Businesses are also in on the con. Autism providers soared from 41 across the entire state in 2020, to 328 by 2025 — all of them applying for and receiving Minnesota’s Medicaid funding. The theft was so deep that one in every 16 Somali four-year-olds in Minnesota had been “officially” diagnosed with autism — a rate that is more than triple the state average.

And this is all in addition to the Feeding Our Future scam that has resulted in 70 Minnesotan Somalis being indicted for $250 million in fraudulent food aide.

“This is not an isolated scheme,” Joe Thompson, the U.S. attorney, said in a press release. “From Feeding Our Future to Housing Stabilization Services and now Autism Services, these massive fraud schemes form a web that has stolen billions of dollars in taxpayer money. Each case we bring exposes another strand of this network.”

“Most of these cases, unlike a lot of Medicare fraud and Medicaid fraud cases nationally, aren’t just overbilling,” Thompson said at a press conference announcing the indictments. “These are often just purely fictitious companies solely created to defraud the system, and that’s unique in the extent to which we have that here in Minnesota.”

“What we see are schemes stacked upon schemes, draining resources meant for those in need. It feels never ending,” Thompson exclaimed. “I have spent my career as a fraud prosecutor and the depth of the fraud in Minnesota takes my breath away.”

The stolen billion in Medicaid and welfare money didn’t merely go into the pockets of corrupt Somalian migrants. They also went to fund terrorism in Africa.

There was no referendum, vote, or caucus to bring 80,000 Somalis into one particular location in the USA. This week's China Show speaks to all the issues that have been the focus over the past week or two that I've been posting here on the Breaking News thread, from the collapsing bridge to lying CCP propaganda.
Note that there is no sensationalistic or shady reporting style (though the style is entertaining and down to earth), and many of the well known sources of the stories are cited, with plenty of obviously authentic videos.
Youtube censored last week's China Show because of the pivotal segment about the newly constructed bridge that just collapsed in China.
...Though the reason for it Youtube claimed was because of a seconds long slapstick segment that has been on the China Show many times.

I've read many articles of this story that took place in Dearborn, Michigan, Tuesday. They all say the same thing, that J6'er Jake Lang, alt-right, of course, slapped a Quran with a slab of bacon before attempting to burn it. They condemn the act by warning, “Attempting to burn a religious document is an unacceptable act of hate,” and make sure to mention that Michigan Republican gubernatorial candidate Anthony Hudson felt sincere remorse for Lang's actions. A tense confrontation erupted Tuesday in Dearborn, Michigan, after an anti-Islam activist attempted to burn a Quran, drawing swift backlash from counter-protesters and prompting a strong police presence along Michigan Avenue.

According to Fox News, Dearborn, home to one of the nation’s largest Muslim communities, has increasingly become a target for activists pushing false claims that the city operates under “Sharia law,” according to MLive.

The clash began when Jake Lang — a participant in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot — arrived on Michigan Avenue and tried to ignite a Quran. Witnesses told MLive that Lang held a lighter to the book before counter-protesters knocked it out of his hands.

The confrontation escalated as Lang slapped the Quran with a slab of bacon, spurring more anger from the crowd. A counter-protester eventually grabbed the book and ran off with it.

Police formed a perimeter along the sidewalks and the roadway, stepping in briefly when tensions spiked following the attempted burning. One person was arrested outside City Hall, according to the outlet. No injuries were reported.

Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel condemned the incident, calling it an attack on the community.

“Attempting to burn a religious document is an unacceptable act of hate,” Hertel said in a statement. “Dearborn is a beloved, multicultural city with tens of thousands of people who are cherished friends, family members, and neighbors.”

The event unfolded as Michigan Republican gubernatorial candidate Anthony Hudson held a separate demonstration nearby. MLive reported that Hudson’s march appeared unconnected to Lang’s actions.

Hudson had previously promoted what he called an “American Crusade” against “Muslim infiltration” and “Sharia Law.” But after visiting three Dearborn mosques, Hudson said many of the narratives fueling fear about the city were misleading. He added that his interactions with local Muslims were marked by hospitality and said he opposed outsiders traveling to Dearborn to burn the Quran.

“We welcome Mr. Hudson’s remorse for his admitted fearmongering against the Dearborn community and American Muslims in general,” CAIR-Michigan Executive Director Dawud Walid said in a statement. He invited Hudson to continue discussions “to learn about the Islamic faith and what Muslims generally believe.”

Lang, angered by Hudson’s shift in tone, responded by spray-painting the word “cuck” on Hudson’s campaign bus in Dearborn and accused him of “selling out,” according to MLive.

Judge dismisses cases against James Comey and Letitia James after finding prosecutor was unlawfully appointed

A federal judge dismissed the criminal indictments against former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James after finding the prosecutor who brought the cases was not lawfully appointed.

"I agree with Mr. Comey that the Attorney General’s attempt to install Ms. Halligan as Interim U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia was invalid. And because Ms. Halligan had no lawful authority to present the indictment, I will grant Mr. Comey’s motion and dismiss the indictment," U.S. District Judge Cameron Currie wrote in her ruling, finding the indictment should be tossed because the appointment of former Donald Trump personal lawyer Lindsey Halligan was invalid and she'd lacked the authority to present a case to a grand jury.

She issued a separate ruling dismissing the James case.

Because Halligan, who'd been appointed interim U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia at Trump's direction, was the only prosecutor to present the cases and sign the indictments, the indictments should be voided, the judge found.

The ruling could have major ramifications for other prosecutions brought by Halligan’s office during her tenure. A similar ruling disqualifying Alina Habba as the New Jersey U.S. Attorney has resulted in a number of criminal cases brought under her leadership being stuck in legal limbo while she appeals the decision.

Currie seemed largely skeptical of the Justice Department's position at a rare joint hearing on the issue with lawyers for Comey and James on Nov. 13, where a prosecutor portrayed questions about Halligan's appointment as "a paperwork error."

Comey's attorney said it was much more than that, and a "fatal flaw" in the prosecution of his client.

Comey was indicted on charges of making a false statement to Congress and obstructing a congressional investigation, while James was indicted on charges of bank fraud and making a false statement to a financial institution. Both have pleaded not guilty.

In a highly unusual move, Halligan was the lone prosecutor to present their cases to the grand jury and the lone prosecutor to sign their indictments. Other prosecutors in her office had recommended against charging Comey and James because they didn't believe there was enough evidence to secure convictions, NBC News previously reported.

Trump said he was naming Halligan U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia on Sept. 20 — the day after he forced out his initial pick, Erik Siebert. Siebert had resisted pressure to prosecute Comey and James.

Halligan's appointment was immediately viewed as problematic because, according to federal statute, people in that post may only serve for 120 days after being appointed U.S. attorney, unless confirmed by the Senate before then.

The SARS-CoV-2 genome was first reported as a COMPUTATIONALLY ASSEMBLED consensus sequence derived from fragmented RNA extracted from broncho-alveolar lavage fluid (BALF) of a single patient with pneumonia of unknown etiology in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 (Wu et al., 2020).

No purified viral particles were isolated, and fulfillment of Koch’s postulates was not attempted.

The resulting 29,903-nucleotide sequence (Wuhan-Hu-1, NC_045512.2) was rapidly adopted as the reference for diagnostic assays, phylogenetic studies, and vaccine development.

Notably, the spike glycoprotein encoded by this sequence (YP_009724390.1) was incorporated—after minor stabilization mutations (K986P/V987P)—into the mRNA-1273 (Moderna) and BNT162b2 (Pfizer/BioNTech) vaccines, which were designed, manufactured, and distributed within one year of sequence publication.

This IN SILICO-DERIVED sequence serves as the antigen in mRNA vaccines administered to over five billion individuals.

Here, we report that 32% (416 amino acids) of this spike exhibits significant local similarity to Human Endogenous RetroViral (HERV) elements and cellular proteins across six functional domains:

intracellular trafficking

These human-derived sequences are absent in the closest purported natural relatives (RaTG13, BANAL-52, Gd/2017, RpYN06) and in all other publicly available sarbecoviruses, rendering convergent natural evolution biologically implausible.

The evidence presented raises four unresolved scientific and ethical questions that warrant immediate independent investigation:

Is the reference spike most parsimoniously explained as a modular human–coronavirus chimera produced by application of pre-existing, patented technology?

Did the documented un-blinded assembly methodology necessarily maximize incorporation of functional human protein segments into each pre-engineered domain?

Is the 32% human-mosaic spike biologically distinguishable from the chimeras generated by the Baric and Bieniasz laboratories over the preceding two decades?
