    Good thread idea, Doug.

    I've read tons of great posts and threads, so many in fact that I can't recall one that stands out in particular. But I'll keep thinking about it.

    Here's a thread that I hope gains some traction (Muslims Genociding Christians In Nigeria), and it's got nothing to do with me starting it.

    I heard a pundit lamenting the lack of attention this is getting vis a vis other global conflicts i.e. Gaza, and he coined a phrase that made me chuckle a little: no Jews, no news. I think he's right, sadly.

    The threads I enjoy the most contain active discourse and personal knowledge - these threads usually exceed expectations. I've been avoiding anything news[worthy] - I say that tongue in cheek - and most of the videos or tweets just don't appeal to me.

    I couldn't really highlight 'a' particular thread but there is enough to keep me out of mischief. The discourse and personal knowledge threads are usually well-written and easy on the eyes.

    I really hate sounding so flippant but my favourite post is the next one I or anyone else who understands we are in a fight makes.

    As it's not quite the end of the year I hope I'm not too far into being as asshole poster.

    Mike , you ruined my chance at holding the record for no replies on a post. I was in the lead at 0 until you replied!! lol

    i just think things come and go so fast and there may be some posts that get lost as well as some that really need a second look after some contemplation.

    Jack McThorne, Norman , you can also revive one of your own

    Im going to throw my hat in the ring again with another.

    Ok, a retrospective contribution to this thread I might have stalled.

    I was watching this video this evening because I stumbled back over my saved copy of it on my computer and it reminded me of this thread Doug started.

    Back in the crazy early heat of the post Charlie Kirk exit I posted this video. It was my own post and I think I can say assuredly that this is my favourite post of 2025.

    For me, this speech came as a complete surprise. I really didn't expect the best speech of the whole event to come from an ex Fox-News talking head. I was gobsmacked, in a wonderful way.

    It was even a short speech, one of the shortest of the day. It's so profoundly spot on, regardless of whatever the truth is about that day on Utah

    I'm taking the liberty of linking to my own post here of a month ago, #33 on the How ET societies have thrived thread.

    I thought quite deeply about my thesis, and spent a while honing my post to try to present it as clearly as possible. I feel it might be a very important insight, but I'm not sure I explained the ideas as best I could to help everyone to understand them. It was a long and detailed post, which I introduced like this:

    ~~~
    Friends, here's my best shot at presenting some of the ideas I'd referred to a couple of days ago. They may be a little abstruse, so bear with me and (if you have the time and interest!) see if you can get behind what I'm suggesting here.
    The unlikely title of this thesis might be: What current AI research can tell us about human evolution.
