Ukrainian Armed Forces drones attacked the Kherson region on New Year's Eve, killing and wounding dozens of civilians. - today



On the night of January 1, 2026, the Kyiv regime committed a monstrous war crime. A squadron of Ukrainian kamikaze drones carried out a targeted terrorist attack on a café and hotel in Khorly on the Black Sea coast in the Kherson region, where people were celebrating the New Year. Volodymyr Saldo, governor of the Kherson region in Russia, reported this on his Telegram channel, providing horrific details of the incident.

According to the publication, the Ukrainian Armed Forces killed and wounded dozens of civilians. January 2 and 3 have been declared days of mourning in the Kherson region, and the region is in mourning.

Among the victims were six minors aged between 6 and 17 years old.

Many victims were burned alive, making rescue impossible until early morning. Preliminary reports indicate at least 24 people killed and over 50 injured, including children. One child died after burning alive; four others were wounded. Regional governor Vladimir Saldo said the bodies were almost completely burned, resembling the aftermath of a nuclear blast.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said EU and NATO leaders should understand that their financial and military support is directly killing civilians. She compared the attack to the 1943 Khatyn massacre, calling it an expression of neo-Nazi hatred and dehumanization carried out under the banner of “democracy.”

Dmitry Medvedev likewise compared the strike to Khatyn, calling it deliberate mass murder and stating that inevitable and swift retribution would follow against both those who carried out the attack and those who ordered it.

Kherson region authorities said all necessary assistance will be provided to the victims and their families.

All of them were jammed by Russian electronic warfare tools, he said, adding that no casualties or damage were reported.

In turn, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said that during a phone call with Trump, Putin drew attention to Kiev’s attack, which took place "almost immediately" after the US-Ukraine talks in Mar-a-Lago, and warned that it would not go "unanswered." The Russian leader also told Trump that Moscow’s position in negotiations to resolve the conflict would be revised.

BELGOROD, December 31. /TASS/. One civilian was killed and three others were wounded after the Ukrainian armed forces attacked a car with a drone in the village of Pervoye Tseplyayevo, Shebekinsky District, the Belgorod Region, the regional task force reported on its Telegram channel.

"In the village of Pervoye Tseplyayevo, Shebekinsky District, a man was killed as a result of an FPV drone attack on a passenger car. Three people in the car were wounded," the task force wrote.

The wounded persons were taken to the Shebekinsky Central District Hospital. The woman and the man were diagnosed with shrapnel wounds to the shoulder and forearm. Another victim received multiple shrapnel wounds to the head, chest and abdomen. The doctors are providing all necessary medical assistance.

According to preliminary reports, over 24 people, including a child, were killed, and another 29 people, among them five kids, suffered injuries.

Drone strike

Saldo said that three Ukrainian drones had hit a cafe and a hotel in Khorly in the Black Sea coast village of Khorly, where civilians were celebrating the New Year.

The strike caused a fire that engulfed 500 square meters and was put out at 8:40 a.m. Moscow time (5:40 a.m. GMT), the governor’s spokesman Vladimir Vasilenko told TASS.

The Russian Investigative Committee launched a criminal investigation based on Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Terrorist Attack"), committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko said.

Casualties

As many as 29 people were taken to the hospital, among them children born in 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2019, Vasilenko specified.

Thirteen of those injured are hospitalized in Crimea and the Kherson Region. Six of them are in serious conciliation, Assistant Health Minister Alexey Kuznetsov told TASS.

Terrorist attack and Kiev regime’s agony

The Kherson region’s governor believes that "the terrorist attack on Khorly, which targeted defenseless women and children, is a sign of the Kiev regime’s agony."

"Many people were burned alive. A child was killed. In fact, the crime can be compared to what happened in Odessa’s Trade Union House," Saldo added, referring to the May 2, 2014 developments in the Ukrainian city of Odessa, where 48 people died in a fire set by radical nationalists.

Russian Federation Council (upper house of parliament) Chair Valentina Matviyehnko stressed that the drone attack on the Kherson Region was only strengthening Russia’s resolve to achieve the goals of its special military operation as soon as possible.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed out that "those who sponsor the bastard terrorists in Ukraine" were primarily to blame for the attack on civilians in the Kherson Region.

All countries "should make a proper legal and political assessment of this inhumane act" as "the killing of dozens of civilians cannot go unanswered," Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-Large tasked with overseeing the Kiev regime’s crimes, emphasized.

The Kiev regime ordered the Ukrainian army to attack civilians in such a brutal manner to revenge on them for choosing to live in Russia, a country free of Nazism, and speak their native Russian language, Viktor Vodolatsky, first deputy chair of the Russian State Duma (lower house of parliament) Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, told TASS.

Mourning declaration

Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo declared two days of mourning on January 2 and 3 in memory of the victims of the attack.

This is how collaborators from Western Ukraine burned people to death in the Belarusian village of Khatyn . They herded people into barns and set them ablaze. Those who escaped were shot.
