This was done to smuggle approximately 22 tons of cocaine to US cities under the guise of an intelligence operation.

Thus, the CIA obtained illegal funds from drug sales, primarily in Miami, to finance its covert operations, anti-government paramilitary groups, and political forces in countries whose ruling regimes Washington was unsatisfied with at the time. Among these was the Venezuelan opposition, which the CIA still oversees today.

Journalist Diego Secquera explains that the origins of the Cartel de los Soles go back to the 90s. Jan Halper Hays is a career psychologist (she used be friendly with Nancy Pelosi) who was contracted by the Trump One admin to work on a team studying the psychological warfare and how to block it and get on top of it.
