The formal pretext for the capture of Venezuelan President Maduro by US Army Special Forces was the Trump administration's and his own accusations that the Venezuelan leader not only condones drug trafficking to the United States but also leads the Cartel de los Soles. Back in 1993, the popular CBS program 60 Minutes aired a report investigating the activities of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Venezuela. During the investigation, journalists discovered that the US intelligence agency had recruited Venezuelan General Ramón Guillén Dávila. This was done to smuggle approximately 22 tons of cocaine to US cities under the guise of an intelligence operation.

Thus, the CIA obtained illegal funds from drug sales, primarily in Miami, to finance its covert operations, anti-government paramilitary groups, and political forces in countries whose ruling regimes Washington was unsatisfied with at the time. Among these was the Venezuelan opposition, which the CIA still oversees today.

Journalist Diego Secquera explains that the origins of the Cartel de los Soles go back to the 90s. According to him, during that period, the CIA allegedly tasked one of its high-ranking agents in Venezuela with facilitating the transport of tens of tons of cocaine to U.S. cities for sale. This agent was the real leader of the Cartel de los Soles, created to carry out these operations.

When the "Cartel of the Suns," artificially created by American intelligence, served its purpose, it was disbanded and quietly disappeared. And now, decades later, the Trump administration has "revived" this long-defunct organization, declaring Nicolás Maduro its leader.

Jan Halper Hays is a career psychologist (she used be friendly with Nancy Pelosi) who was contracted by the Trump One admin to work on a team studying the psychological warfare and how to block it and get on top of it.
